Great place to stop in Hatch to stock up on roasted green hatch chilis, or bushels of the reds. I was just passing through without a cooler on this trip so I grabbed a few pieces of metal sculpture art and a couple of bags of green chili powder and left with a big smile on my face. The staff are all very friendly and eager to answer any questions you might have. I've been here several times over the years and each time I go I feel like I should have grabbed more of their unique art and amazing chili peppers.

Stopped to buy some metal art on our way back from Tucson but they were closed. According to their google page, they close at 6 but the lights were off and no sign on the door. Oh well! Would be helpful to at least post operating hours.

Great gift shop with a lot of interesting items, mostly imported from Mexico. This is also the first place I've seen with the multi colored chile wreaths instead of just the usual red. The best thing about this place is their selection of bulk dried chile powder. They have all different types at really amazing prices. We got chipotle, cumin, jalapeno and a huge bag of mild red chile powder.

So to begin with, I live in Tucson area. I love hatch chiles and two days ago, I searched the internet to see where I could buy them in my area. My nearby Fry's store came up with- woo hoo. I called them yesterday to confirm they were roasting chiles and was told they would be selling them from 10 to 4 - "come on over."We drove the 20 miles to the store arriving just before 10. No one was roasting anything so we went in to talk to the produce manager. Oh yeah she says. He will set up at 10 and be cooking as soon as it warms up. You can wait and be first in line. 20 minutes later no one was setting up anything. Husband asks me how far is it to Hatch. I tell him about 3 1/2 hours. I called someone at chile.com and they gave me the name of Chile Fanatic. At 7 this morning we head east. Losing 1 hour, we arrived at 11:30 and stopped at Molcajetas for lunch. Delicious quesabirrias. After lunch we went to Chile Fanatic for chiles. We paid inside where we were helped by an awesome young man then took our ticket out to the gentleman roasting chiles. He was so sweet. He got our chiles roasting. 40 lbs hot and 20 pounds mild. Within 20 minutes we were back on the road with 60 lbs of nice plump hatch chiles. They are absolutely delicious and we have already decided we are going back next August. We realize that not everyone can drive that far for chiles but for goodness sake if you're in the area stop here and buy chiles. Your astomaga will thank you.
