An old standard just died a flaming death and it is so sad .My sister and I have ate at the charcoler since 1964 we grew up with Mr.Cox and Bobby. Last night we came back into town and had to go eat our favorite burger,my god we were excited to munch on the onions again! We they were having a benefit form the church we attended. And my grandparents attended it was crowded but not as bad as we used to see it. So not find a parking place we drive through and ordered. The guy had a bit of a hard time but we understood it was crowded. We noticed they kept running out because orders were wrong. Ok no problem .We got our order 3 number 3s one with green chili 3 Onion rings. We recieved 3 patties with nothing but cheese. Ok .We went up to the window and had them correct it .The new burger were dry smaller a tiny amount of BbQ and like one pickle!Oh well. The onion rings were a pile of grease. The buns are different dry hard not slightly toast and tasted like cardboard! THEN My sister after two bites pulled a piece of patty out of her mouth with a good SIX INCH BLOND HAIR EMBEDDED IN A CHUCK OF PATTIE!! I ALMOST THREW UP!!! I gaggedWe went to the window again and then saw a blonde girl VAPING IN THE BACK AREA!! WTF!!! Seriously? Vaping? They apologized and offered coupons we told them we just wanted our money back!Damn hopes for a great burger dashed. It was so nasty. I took only one bite before I saw what my sister pulled out of her mouth!!!Mr. Cox on events like this was always there.Bobby was always there. Whomever the new onwer was is thinking the business will work it's self it wrong and lazy!I have my own business,my grandfather had his own business in ELP and built all around the area. He taught me better .You just lost a lifetime customer. And I will let everyone I know how now horrific the charcoler is, sad to say ..Oh forgot they kids at the event were playing with a almost dead pigeon in the El Paso sign with mites in the play area . And then eating...Darn what an experience we had. Never again

Good as it ever was! This is the true charcoaler that we knew growing up! We were out here about four months ago, and it was simply awful, BUT not tonight! The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The burgers had that famous charbroiled taste, and the onion rings were spectacular! The reason they were so good was because we asked them NOT to include the barbecue sauce! If you don't specifically let them know no bbq sauce, they will slather those patties like no one's business, so forewarned is forearmed! We will he returning very soon, most definitely.

I've been coming here most my life it's been very interesting to see all the ups and downs Charcoaler has gone through. I'm pleased to say I'd definitely recommend coming and trying my all time favorite the number 7 green chili burger with a side of onion rings and a milk shake or cold root beer . Back in the day this place only had a drive thru and you'd order then park in one of the bays like a and eat in your car. Now they have added a whole picnic area with games out front and an indoor dining area where you can order as well and have beer and wine . It's such a great El Paso experience , I used to come here with my grandparents get a burger and eat in the back seat with my cousins all piled in the car . It has a nostalgia about it that is similar to what you'd get at Top Notch in Austin which is famous from the movie Dazed and Confused except this place is way better haha . I currently live in Austin and every time I visit El Paso where all my family lives I have to drive to the westside and have some Charcoaler . I don't come for a five star James beard experience I don't come here because it's spotless and has great parking and I'm not saying this place is a pit either what I'm getting at is this is a backyard burger hang out with family relax and enjoy your afternoon type of place for all you picky yelpers.

The burger and hot dog have great flavors, just like off the backyard grill. Best of all are the crispy hit onion rings. Service was quick and efficient. This is a great place for the family so that the kids can run and play.

This spot has been around for a longgg time, so maybe it's had it's misses; but all I know is that the time I visited it was all hits. Made the choice to get their pickle fries with the meal and that was an amazing decision... They're the best type of any fried pickle I've ever had. Period. Their green Chile burger was also great, nothing necessarily stood out but it was tasty. All & all I love historic eaterys like this and this was a great experience.

I personally love this spot. Has that nostalgic OG burger taste, house made ketchup, crispy fries. End it with a fried apple pie dusted in powdered sugar. Your day is set. It's been here since 1961. Has indoor and outdoor seating. Prices are very reasonable for today's prices. Just a great burger spot.

Average burger. It could have been cooked more though and it was drenched in BBQ sauce. A little too much for my taste. Fries are always good. Good for a quick bite.
