Food & service was fantastic. There's a large parking lot and plenty of tables for big parties. We ate at an off time, so it was not crowded. I'd definitely come back here.

We are visiting from the East side of Texas and wanted to try Mexican food in the middle of Texas. Candilejas did not disappoint! My wife had Romies Special and I had the Gran Burritto Mojado with fajita beef (your choice of red or green Chile sauce) and all the veggies. It was deliciosos and very filling!Next time I'll be trying the fish plate.

Everything was amazing. Authentic Mexican food. Fair prices I give it 6* out of 5. Being from San Diego it was hard to find authentic Mexican food but this place is it and Guadalupe is so friendly and we will definitely be back

Good food, service was great and definitely a very clean place. I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a good Mexican food.

I am moving to this area of West Texas and have been living out of a hotel while I work and prep for my permanent move in a short while. As a "stranger in a strange land" I can't live off fast food and don't want to go broke by overdoing visits to more upscale restaurants. I tried Candilejas one late afternoon on a whim. I was hungry having skipped lunch and felt like trying a local Mexican establishment. Candilejas did not disappoint! Although it's outward appearance is somewhat "Sketchy" once inside it reveals itself to be warm, friendly, and inviting. On this first visit, I was the sole patron (it was early for dinner) and I was greeted by a young woman who did not seem to be comfortable with English as a language. Nevertheless she seated me and we got through the ordering without a hitch. Before I left other patrons had arrived. I was however, the only gringo - but that's cool with me. I had enchiladas mole which were outstanding. Now as I write this I have just returned froM my second visit. Same waitress, one of the same couples from the other evening as well. This time I selected Romies Combination plate and it too was outstanding although a bit too much for my appetite. I will bring my wife here when she comes out and can say I think we will be regulars. I guess I only need to learn Spanish now for the full immersive experience. Try Candilejas, I promise you'll be pleased.

Delicious! Everything we had was amazing and the service was awesome too!! I had the fish tacos, my friend had the shrimp cocktail & we shared the guacamole. The lady who waited on us was super friendly and helpful as well! We will be back for sure!

I am not sure how this place got 5 stars! Order was brought incorrectly and all they did was scrape it. Only top had stuff on the nachos. Fish tacos were bland and served with lettuce, not cabbage as listed. Beans from a can and tortillas were Albuquerque brand, not fresh. Refills nonexistent and ignored. Steak fajitas were not skirt steak. Requests were ignored. Very dirty and the service was absolutely terrible. The kids nuggets were just Microwaved dino nuggets. Her excuse for taking the order incorrectly was that it wasn't her fault. Shocked that she tried to argue with me about her mistake for my child's food. Would not consider this place kid or customer friendly. ‍

Looks closed. Like sketchy. They don't serve margaritas either. Totally go somewhere else.

The reviews are right on for this place. My wife and I are as gringo as they come. They were busy and short staffed and continuously apologized. We weren't in a hurry and so it was fun and the food was great. The entertainer was good and even translated for us (only gringos). We're going back soon.
