A Bite of Belgium

A Bite of Belgium

Joe M. "I visited from Illinois and had the pleasure of dining here twice--once in June and again in October 2024. This was my first experience with Belgian cuisine, and I absolutely loved it!Service: 5 out of 5On both visits, the hosts and servers were exceptional. They were incredibly attentive and very friendly. While the host wasn't particularly smiley, they were still welcoming. The servers, on the other hand, were both friendly and cheerful.Ambiance: 4.5 out of 5The restaurant's decor is unique and cozy, creating a warm atmosphere. It's clearly a popular spot, as it fills up quickly. My only suggestion would be to reduce the number of tables by 10-20% to make it easier to navigate the dining room, especially when it's busy, as it can get quite loud.Food: 5 out of 5I made it a point to try Belgian-specific dishes on both visits. During my first visit, I had a Benedict with greens on the side--something not typically found in the U.S.--and it was absolutely delicious. The ingredients were high quality, and the presentation was lovely. They also keep the food covered until it reaches your table, ensuring it stays hot. On my second visit, I tried the Pork Green Chiles with eggs, hash browns, and a small Belgian waffle. The food was flavorful, hot, and very fresh. The waffle, in particular, was outstanding. Despite usually preferring savory breakfasts, I now know that I'll be leaning towards the waffles or other sweet breakfast options in the future--they're simply unmatched!Special coffee drinks: 3 out of 5I ordered a double Latte's at each visit. They were about $7+ each. They were flavorful, but a little too sweet. Unfortunately, also, they didn't come to the table "HOT." If I'm paying that much for a special coffee drink, it should be top tier. I look forward to coming back, I recommend this place to anyone! Try it!"

Marie G. "One of my favorite brunch places in El Paso- espresso flights, baklava pancakes, enormous piles of French Toast, a big platter of chicken and waffles- and excellent healthful choices as well! I came with a gal pal after a light workout at the gym, so we kept the food light but it was so tasty! The ambiance is so chic casual and the service is top notch."

Tomas R. "Wow -- how have I allowed this review to go without a proper update since 2016. Ripe has become one of my fave spots and their burgers and salads are now some of the things I most crave when I'm back in town visiting. Their standouts to me are their poached pear salad. Probaly one of the cleanest salads that although may seem simple it's the quality of ingredients and those damn red wine soaked pears and the sweet pear balsamic dressing that elevate your salad. If I was living in town, I would probably have this at least twice a week. That's how much I love it.Top it off with a protein and you have a super health friendly meal that'll keep you full. I opt out of the toasted cashews due to allergens and swap the goat cheese for feta. Damn now I'm here craving a salad and I don't have immediate access to one.For my sweet tooth fanatics.... get their cheesecake. You won't be disappointed and you'll regret having to share with the table."

Cynthia L. "This place is so cute! I came in during brunch time on a Sunday and they had live music playing which added to the vibe of the restaurant. The food was delicious and gave a modern twist to Mexican cuisine. I ordered an iced matcha latte and chilaquiles which was pretty tasty. I also had the churro waffles as a dessert and omg they were to die for. 4 stars because the service could have been better. Although my waitress was nice, she could have been more attentive. I saw my churro waffles sitting on the counter waiting to be delivered for literally 10 min while the restaurant only had 5 tables sat. Regardless, I would still come back if I'm ever in the area."

It was a fabulous compliment to my omelet. I got an iced caramel latte decaf that I fully enjoyed. And I made sure to grab some beautiful and yummy treats from the bakery. I was told the chef is actually French and bakes all the sweet treats in the showcase. Last but not least, I had the sweetest server. Kee was attentive, helpful (since this was my first visit), and smiled alot. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here, food and all. Cost is $$ and fits the food portions."

LOLEzra, my waiter knows the menu front, backwards and up side down. La Fete is a quaint open style restaurant with enough tables to be cozy not crowded. There is a cute wall mural where you can take selfies upon entering. Now on to the food. Excuse me. I know this great food didn't come out of this tiny place! Oh My Gosh!First things first! That Lavender Lemonade is the best lemonade I've EVER had. EVER! Wish I could take it on the plane with me. Ohhhhh so sweet, crisp, refreshing and light flavored .Fish, Shrimp, Andouille Sausage and Grits - YUM! Fish - well seasoned, fried extra extra crispy in flour batter, so it didn't get soggy from the grits.Shrimp - large sautéed shrimp were a nice compliment to the gritsAndouille Sausage - sautéed with peppers and onions, chopped small but not tinyGrits - very creamy and flavorful with the Andouille Sausage and shrimp mixed in with the crispy fish on top, is so delicious.I had to visit again before I left El Paso.2nd visit, I got Chicken n Waffles with a side of Mac and Cheese Waffles with peach cobbler butter (unbig my back) Lordy! - fluffy waffles coated with powder suger, not over sweet. Really good. Now the peach butter can be its own dessert. Oh My Lord!!!! It taste like smooth ice cream and has real peaches in it. Let me stop. I think I've said too much. (First 48) Chicken - large chicken breast, fried a little to crispy and had an old grease taste to it. Thank goodness for syrup. Marie G. "So my Super Bowl game day diet plan was to have a good protein packed breakfast. I had not been to The Riviera in several years. It was on my way home from Church, and they do have traditional pancakes etc, but I knew they would have good protein selections. I was right- they have a menu item that features a 10oz ribeye, two eggs cooked anyway you like, your choice of hash browns, beans or green chili potatoes, and toast for $16! As is traditional with El Paso Mexican restaurants, they bring you chips and salsa with your beverage. After a short wait, the breakfast platter came out- it was huge! The best part was the steak smelled and looked like it just came off the grill. It was a thin steak but cooked perfectly to my request- medium rare. The green chili potatoes were delicious without having to add salt or pepper and the eggs were perfect. My waiter made sure my coffee cup stayed full.Service - excellent, food - outstanding! Now I am ready to turn my head away from empty calories at my game watch parties (yes I am house hopping today)."

It reminded me of places that I would wait MONTHS to get into in some of the biggest cities in the USA!And that's not where the 5 star comparison stops! The food was AMAZING! We started with the funnel cake fries app for the table. My husband and I got the Texas Pecan French Vanilla drip coffee (which was epic and I'm a major coffee snob!) and the kids were THRILLED with so many fun nonalcoholic options and tried a fun new drink! The kids both fell in love with sweet crepes and the husband had a savory brisket crepe. I did the avocado toast on fresh sourdough toast with the eggs and bacon on the side (small mouth!) with potatoes and I never imagined I could still be craving something so simple yet so perfectly made and gourmet! It was the first time our whole family was SILENT because we were all eating! We initially tried for Fathers day but the wait was just a tad over what we felt comfortable doing. Also as a recommendation to other people, this is a diner, which means it is not that large of a place and large parties will take time to be seated as the accommodations are a tad lackluster in that sense. Their food as always was as delicious as their arizona locations that we frequent throughout the year. I had their Country Fried Steak eggs benedict and as always the portions were good and hearty. The fruit was deliciously crisp and in season and honestly everything felt and tasted great. The atmosphere is one you would expect and it does feel very active throughout your meal. Please remember they do have fudge as well as other goodies you can take afterwards.
