Butterfield was our winter home for 5 years. We loved it there and met and made many friends. When we got there this year and we met Jeff and Tammy the new managers. They were great for a while, then they cut karaoke, as it was done on a volunteer basis, because of head clashes with activities Director Vickie, then yoga, over excuses. Then if you asked about these activities they wouldn't speak to you. On the website it says you must be fully self contained, but they have been letting people in with converted vans, they were not self contained, dumping pitchers of urine down the drain, throwing the number 2 in the trash, not saying anything for trash being outside for 2 days in a pile, but yet we are the problemThey will say that we broke rules, accused of my wife using the pool, though she hasn't been back since we left. They say we keep coming back to harass workcamping staff. None of that is true. The ones who left have been coming for years and have many friends in the park. Friends that have became family. We have lots of friends, some who no longer can get help from me as I got banned. For lies of speeding and using pool. Not true, at our new park we have a pool, why would I speed where many Friends live, why would I jeopardize that. But that was in email. We were told all guest must be approved by management, but they had open invitation to karaoke, at dances they let public come, as well as bingo. They changed the park for the bad. If you disagree with them you are considered hostile. Her favorite line is end of discussion before you get to ask the question. We moved to another park because we couldn't wait until May 7th to see if we were going to be allowed back, all of my docs are in Tuscan, as a disabled combat veteran I need to know I have a place to stay for the winter. They did away with the right of first refusal going away severely hampers patrons quality of life. And creates a lack of guarantee for the park of 6 months worth of income. They have so many work campers right now that it's crazy, they are having people fix and paint picnic tables. For 172 sites that's about 2 weeks work, they have 2-3 people doing maintenance most days, They have trimmed the trees and they look good. I miss being at Butterfield but I can't stay in a park where the manager won't take a few minutes to answer questions, and only hear one side of the story. Like I said they were great when we first got there in October. She will say we are part of a group, we are not part of a group, I do things because I want to not because I am a following someone, I would probably be leading the way. But she won't even open the dialogue with me about the lies that were said about meIt seems like once you leave the park they consider you no longer allowed on the property, even if to visit friends. The person they are visiting, gets in trouble as well for rule number 24. I am sure she will respond with things that I have previously stated. What went from a great park to a not so great park I will miss Butterfield and already do. Yes I left under my own accordI am not part of a groupI hate great people getting treated badly.

This park is very clean, nicely landscaped, has good hookups and includes amenities including an observatory, gym, pool and wood shop. The staff are friendly most of the time. They charge LP fill by the number of gallons put in which is nice. Some parks charge a fixed price. If you are a light sleeper know that the trains go through here 24/7 and blow the horns multiple times. It is no issue for us and the park has no control over this but it's reality. Overall 4 stars though there are some points that they could improve on.1/2- The website shows only paved sites, most are gravel, and the listed price is incorrect. They should add many pictures of gravel sites and change the pricing. They said the rates went up 1 April and would update the web page though days later it is still showing $50 rather that $60. It takes fifteen minutes to change this.3- Our spot using auto level has one tire an inch or so off the ground. We tried several orientations. We've seen other coaches with auto level here and some using blocks under the tires to mitigate this.4- The picnic table needs new boards. It's wobbly due to decay.5- When using the wireless login there's an explanation that there are two choices; free not suitable for streaming, and a $30 upgrade that is. I'm streaming with the lower speed which I clocked (engineer). They could point to their internet provider but it's their contract.

Never been to a better park! After a year of traveling through the southwest, I decided to stay somewhere long-term and Butterfield is the place! So many friendly faces, great activities, and incredible food! The activities crew works tirelessly to make visitors welcome. The pool is warm and the spa is hot... all day, every day. Three dog runs. Raffles at nearly every event. Really fun gift exchange, monthly breakfasts and birthday/anniversary parties. Card games, water aerobics, line dancing, wood carving, 2-step lessons!Clean. Fantastic weather. Nearby towns and historic attractions will keep you busy. Walk daily, play Pickleball or bingo! Or both!A worthy stop for a week or the whole season. Put it on your list!

We stayed at butterfield. The site was ok. The neighbors on both sides looked like they were long term and had a lot of stuff sitting out. The wind blew a couple things over to our site. Check in was easy. They do have an observatory on the property. One woman said if we were interested to swing back by and put our name on the list. When we came back by the list was full and we got put on a standby list. They had livid all court and paddies you could check out but it was too hot

Update....not sure what "Group" they are referring to but the fact that they would post a response like this without addressing any of the points made in my review simply confirms my conclusions about the poor management in this park. I would take any recent 5 star reviews with a grain of salt.We stayed at Butterfield last year and returned this year as we had a great time and loved the park and the people we met. This year we are reviewing it again due to a new huge negative.....the current management. Our first introduction to management was shortly after we arrived. I paid the $20 fee and properly displayed the permit for washing our camper. As I was washing the back, a woman on a red golf cart came racing across our neighbor's site and aggressively demanded "are you washing your camper?". As I assumed the soapy camper and the hose answered that question, I replied "Did the permit fall down?". She responded.. "So you have a permit?". "Yes, it is displayed at the front of my site." "Oh, I didn't check.". No apology, no explanation for why she was so aggressive; she just drove off....I came to find out later this is the new manager TammyOur next experience was when heading to Coffee and Donuts one morning. On our way there, a woman accosted my wife demanding to know her name. She replied "MaryAnne" at which point the woman further demanded "What's your last name?". She told her and asked why she wanted to know; the reply was "I've seen you around and didn't know your name". Maybe I'm old fashioned but I always thought if you wanted to meet someone it is polite to introduce yourself and then ask their name. After this encounter she simply rushed off. While we were having coffee and donuts, this same woman started making announcements and we came to learn she is the Activities Director Vicky. The strangeness from her continued as she launched into a scolding rant that I still have no clue as to what it was about....other than it had nothing to do with us. The only comment she made that stuck with me was "If you have anything bad to say you better do it behind my back!"... weird! These are just two personal interactions we had with them; there are many others our friends experienced that I won't record here. Aggressive and unreasonable management is a huge negative for me in any RV park...it sucks the enjoyment out of anything else the park may have to offer Beyond management's lack of professionalism, park maintenance is sorely lacking. The pool table is damaged as to be unusable, when we tried to move our picnic table, it almost fell apart and the "dog parks" are actually litter boxes and smell like it. The bottom line is the current management has made Butterfield a very uncomfortable and less enjoyable place to be. If you are not bothered by incessant train horns blasting 24x7, you might enjoy a short visit with no management interaction. However, there are plenty of other campgrounds in the area that are more pleasant, cheaper and quieter so I don't know why anyone would bother with this one. We will not be back.

This was the most unpleasant stay I've ever had at an RV park. After a very long day of driving from Texas, what would you want to do? If you're like me, you probably want to rest, relax, and get a good night of sleep before hitting the road for another long day of driving back to San Diego the next morning. You WILL NOT get that at Butterfield RV resort. We pulled into our site around 8pm and got setup. Fell asleep probably around 10:30pm and from that point until this very moment as I'm writing this (which is about 5:15am the next morning) I have been abruptly woken up AT LEAST a dozen times (if not more) by the trains blasting their horns on the nearby tracks. I've been awake since 3am. I'll doze off and then BBWAAAAHHHHHHH.....train horn. A few minutes later, another one. Finally a break...doze off....BBWAAAAHHHH again.Noisiest, loudest, most restless night of my life. I'm not exaggerating. It's like the train was in the next RV space over. This particular vacation (a trip to Texas from California and back) started two weeks ago and our first night we stayed at Tombstone RV Park....that was a MUCH better experience. It's only a few more minutes up the road and I wish we would've stayed there for tonight as well.If you're looking for peace and quiet I promise you will not find it at Butterfield RV Park.I cannot review anything about the rest of the RV park or the staff because we checked in late and will be leaving early so I can get home where there's not a train for miles and miles and miles.I wish i'd had a better experience here. Seems like it could be a nice place if it weren't for the incredibly loud ambiance.*UPDATE*I upgraded my review to a 3-star since they gave me a refund. She's trying to tell me I should've arrived earlier to enjoy th RV park. Believe me, if i could've gotten there earlier i would've. It still wouldn't change the fact that this RV park was put next to the worlds loudest train track.A review is supposed to describe one's experience with that business, correct? Whether or not you have control over the trains doesn't matter. This was my experience at this business. Plain, simple and totally honest.

We stopped here on a road trip. We stayed one night to do laundry and clean our RV after boondocking for 5 days. Nice and clean park with lots of activities. The surprise was that they have an observatory with a telescope. We signed up and it was led by Dave and he really knows his astronomy. It was very interesting and has me looking at the night sky a little differently now

We've stayed here twice. The first time was a year ago when they were nearly full, and we were given a back-in gravel site on the south side of the park near the entrance. The site was sloping downward from back to front and the stairs of our motorhome were quick high off the ground and required an additional step to easy access. We extended our stay and they were able to accommodate us in our same site. I tried to attend the observatory star viewing but unfortunately, it didn't work out because the telescope wasn't working properly. We used the pickle ball court once but it seemed a bit cumbersome to get a reservation, so we didn't try again. The pool and hot tub were out of service while we were there and we didn't really use any of the other amenities during that visit. On our second visit, it was during the pandemic and they were maybe 25-30% full in their nightly/weekly sites. We got a site on the end of the row with an asphalt parking pad and trees on both sides. We tried to extend our stay in the same site this time but were told they could only accommodate 2 extra days because they had other reservations booked for our site. They said if we wanted to move sites, we could stay longer. This seemed ironic because we were there a week and they were never more than 50% full at any time and possibly could have moved future reservations to an adjacent site. This is one of the better RV parks in the Benson area with several activities that were interesting to us. I attended the craft night that was fun and my husband was considering the woodworking afternoon activity but didn't get a chance to go. They also had a book and DVD library that we took advantage of while we were there. They have 3 dog parks and we walk our pups through the park daily on paved roads. We enjoy our stays here and will likely return again when in the area.
