They are only in it for the money. They won't do a simple insurance covered treatment if they can't make money in the long term. They also prescribe weird "natural" unnecessary medicine, which you have to pay out of pocket for, even though prescribed medicine is easily available. 90% of the work is done by assistants.

I went to this Dr. Ramirez a few times recommended by my optometrist for a chronic inflammatory eye condition. Unfortunately, Dr. Ramirez was not able to determine the root of my problem and even though he kept insisting my problem was due to an autoimmune disorder he declined to get me tested. My eyes were always red, eyelids swollen and tearing profusely and nothing much was really done about it other than steroid eye drops which is really bad if you are on them for long term. I had to see another doctor who fortunately was able to know my condition and currently being treated without steroids.

Top notch staff. Dr. Ramirez is very friendly and professional. They take quality time with you and never minimize the importance of good eye care. Since he is an MD he can go far beyond what an optometrist can do, including glaucoma treatment and eye surgery. I think you'll find bigger selection of glasses frames and lenses elsewhere but you can get the exam and prescription here. The dis a great job with cataract surgery on my left eye. I'll report back in a few weeks when the right eye is done.

EVERYONE that I had an interaction with was very helpful and professional, from the ladies at the front desk to the gentleman who helped me at the very end to pick out my glasses! He was amazing and very tentative and answered all of my questions. My Appt was at 10:30 and I was out of there within 50 minutes. Five stars for great customer service, respectful of appointment times, and being upfront of any out of pocket costs.

It was my first time, and my experience was exceptional. The staff was on point, and Dr. Acosta made me feel welcome with no rush. He took the time to answer all my questions and concerns. They were professional and attentive.

BEWARE:I suffer from severe dry eye & had medication for a year, till my next appointment. I got a call to reschedule until a month later as Dr & his wife, the optometrist, were on vacation. I ran out of my medication. I went I. Upon their return and I got a script for my glasses; told I would get them it less than 2 weeks. After texting because they don't answer their phones, I got my glasses 4.5weeks later and can't see with them. Then they ordered my medication but didn't respond to my pharmacy, as they needed to get a pre-authorization. They said pharmacy didn't answer. I said they answer on 2nd ring! They asked me to get their fax no. I called and they answered on 2nd right; reported they hadn't received anything from Buena Vista eye care. I called back, gave them the fax no to my pharmacy. Buena Vista then told me, via text, I had to get a pre authorization from my PCP! what I the world? I said he didn't order it so why would he send for a pre-authorization?Then they changed their mind & told me I had to contact my insurance and request pre-authorization. I did because in the meantime my eyes are suffering. Insurance was surprised and helped me but confirmed it should have been Buena Vista eye care doing this! I finally got it approved & told Buena Vista. I also told them they were supposed to help patients and do this for them as there are many elderly pts who have no idea what to do!I also told them to cancel my next year's appt.

Worse experience I have ever had in a doctor's office. I was referred to Dr Ramirez by my previous eye doctor from Austin, Texas. I recently had to move back to El Paso due to my father's progressive health issues. I suffer from kerataconus and my right eye has been red, swollen and painful for a month. I had to wait three weeks for an appt and Dr Ramirez rushed thru the appt and seemed intent on selling me on a procedure he performs to the beat of $5,000! Insurance does not cover. I dont have $5,000 just lying around. My red, painful eye was not addressed. I wasnt ever told my eyes would be dilated until they handed me the sunglasses. Good thing I had somebody with me to drive. Very arrogant demeanor and horrible bedside manner. I will not be returning and I will tell my previous doc to stop referring patients to this place!Oh and in response to the reviewer who commented on my creditworthiness, my review had nothing to do with that and everything to do with the rude, arrogant treatment I received. Dr R very well may be competent in his field. I couldnt see past his horrible bedside manner.
