Broken Spoke Taphouse

Fantastic beer selection! They had Old Rasputin...no one carries that around here. Lots of local beer, full bar, bar food (but decent not all fried bar food). Music wasn't too loud so we could visit while we munched and drank.Here's the kicker. Service randomly sucks. Our waiter disappeared into the kitchen and stayed there much of the evening. We had to track down someone else to take our drink orders when we were ready. He had no clue what beers were on tap. We paid with a $100.00 bill. Change came back $10 short. Manager took care of the money issue but didn't seem at all interested in knowing how bad the service was.Look, I get it everyone has to learn their job. But usually a bar staff person will at least know what beers they have, know what a vodka gimlet is and be able to count change. You can't learn ANY of that if you hide in the kitchen all night.We'll be back but likely sit at the bar. At least people will notice you need a refill there.

An absolute pleasure eating here! We stopped in on our way to Austin and loved it so much that we had to stop on our way back to Phoenix. The food is incredible. The chef came out to greet us and make sure we were enjoying our food, he gave us a sample of his ST Patrick's dish (bangers and mash with Guinness gravy-- WOW) Nick was our bartender both times. He was AWESOME and the manager (didn't catch her name) was also so sweet and friendly and accommodating!! We will certainly be back next time we are in town!!

Came here for drinks and the service was incredibly slow. Over the 3 hours she came to check on us twice and brought the wrong drink out and didn't refill waters.

It's a shame how the service quality seems to be such an impossible area to improve. From the get-go this place's best feature is the location, but that's about it.Staff not knowledgeable about the beers, seems annoyed when you ask something; literally not able to even tell you the slightest thing about the beers, or make a proper recommendation.I have the highest regard for service folks especially in those strange days and I am an avid tipper when deserved.But - the ignorance and rudeness of the staff and the manager - seemingly too cool to serve patrons is an absolute turn-off.Much better places in town to grab a good beer and some food.

I read some of the more critical reviews before my first visit but I was still hopeful. I really love trying new beers and I was not disappointed! This place is really a jewel and while I understand what some experienced regarding the service, some of that is to be expected when you have a place like this which depends on young waitstaff who may not be able to know everything there is to know about the 70+ beers the Broken Spoke offers. They were training someone new the night I was there and she did a good job. But if you know what you like or even if you want to take gamble and try something new you are certain to find something you will enjoy. The menu is limited but they more than make up for it with the choices of beer. I had the tortilla soup and a hamburger which were both great and everyone else was happy with their orders too. For my first beer I was surprised to find a Delirium Tremens. This is one of my favorite Belgien beers and I've never seen on tap here in the US. PERFECTION! I also tried the Breckinridge Vanilla Porter which I will definitely order again. The manager asked us if it was a special occasion and my wife and I were there celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary so she comped us a free desert. We got the bourbon pecan pie which was amazing. The perfect way to end a great eating experience.

Four of us met for lunch at the Broken Spoke Tap House for lunch today. Maybe, after reading other reviews, we were lucky but our service was good. Two of us had the chicken sandwiches with sweet potato fries, one of us, believe it or not, had the bourbon pecan pie and ice cream and I had the Broken Spoke burger with bacon and beer cheese, tomatoes and onions. My burger was very good and no one else was complaining about their selections. I was told that the dessert was great. Will return.

Took an hour for drinks to come out. When food *finally* came out it was raw. Not sure who our waitress was but I wish I did so I could mention her by name because she had a horrible attitude. She had a sash saying birthday girl. When we showed up she was sitting at a table and we didn't know she was suppose to be our waitress for the first 20 minutes. All in all, we spent 2.5 hours trying to get a few drinks and pay our bill. We will not be back. Atmosphere was okay, the amateur boxing was cool.

My family used to love coming here...Business lunch once a week, the choice to go for drinks after work. Recently, there was a question about drinks removed from the table by the server before we were finished. Easily fixed. No charge for the unfinished drink, right? Actually not what the establishment chose to do. We asked for reimbursement, and the staff became rude. I'm sorry about that as we'll no longer patronize. It seems such a small thing compared to the frequency of our visits. Poor choice taphouse!

We had dinner here tonight. The poor girl was alone and she was busy but she kept at it. My turkey sandwich and salad was wonderful. We plan to come back for some patio entertainment

We had a great time on the patio listening to jazz. Hopefully they keep doing the jazz nights.
