Ive always known I wanted a home birth, but being an ICU nurse made me hesitant and question every possible, horrible scenario. The reality of the situation is, these scenarios are very rare, and if they are to happen, they are caught early on with proper prenatal care. After my husband and I interviewed Selia, we hired her on the spot, I hope that says enough lol! She was referred to us by our wonderful doula, Jaimie, and we are so grateful for her! She has a personality that makes you feel safe and at peace and a ton of experience giving her the critical thinking skills necessary for dealing with active labor. She is prepared with emergency medications and emergency equipment for mom and baby. And there is always a Plan B which is part of the discussion during the prenatal phase. I was very anxious during the whole process, because #1 I am an ICU nurse and #2 it was the beginning of the COVID pandemic. She kept my mind at ease by always being available for all questions, concerns, etc. She is attentive to your needs throughout the whole process, (before, during and after birth) and stays with you after the delivery to ensure everything is well with you and baby. As part of her contract we had several follow ups post-partum where we address issues such as breastfeeding, and emotional states which I found highly effective. She was able to provide referrals or advice for anything needing to be taken care of. I know she also does "well woman checks" such as papsmears, however, I never used these services. She can also order labs and ultrasounds as needed, (for those who aren't sure on the scope of a licensed midwife). We are so lucky to have found someone like her here in the El Paso area. She will ualways be a big part of our lives for delivering our first baby

Selia was such a blessing as a midwife. Even before I found out I was pregnant, I knew I wanted a homebirth but my husband wasn't as sure as I was. We met with two midwives and asked a ton of questions. Selia out my husband's mind at ease and made us feel so comfortable. She was so amazing throughout the whole experience and constantly offered support and reassurance. She was the first provider to ever make me feel like I had the right to object to an exam and any time I wasn't comfortable with something she never made me feel like I was wrong. Having her as a provider was not only an amazing experience but an empowering one. Even almost a year after my son's birth I still text her questions and she has never once made me feel like I'm bugging her I'd 100% recommend her to anyone looking for a homebirth midwife.

Selia delivered my son in February 2020. She is an amazing midwife and I feel forever indebted to her. She is thoughtful, intelligent, caring and patient. She answered every single question that my husband and I had, helping to ease my husbands mind (he wasn't very sure of having a home birth). During the labor she was extremely attentive and when my son had shoulder dystocia she acted quickly and in expert fashion to ensure that he was delivered safety. She was always easily accessible. She is a blessing to anyone she encounters I'm so sad that she is leaving El Paso!
