Great coffee located in the lumberyard! The shop is cozy and small but filled with charm. It was a busy weekend due to the Chinati Weekend so there was small wait; but worth it!

I couldn't be more thankful that I stumbled across the info for this place. I was looking for a vegan birthday cake for my 50th birthday spent with a group of friends in Marfa. There was correspondence for about a month. I still have no idea the name of the person who was extremely friendly, accommodating and helpful for every detail from flavors, coloring to pricing and pickup. Best of all, the cake exceeded expectations! Our whole group (I am the only vegan) devoured the cake. The rest was amazed. We got a lemon lavender cake with lavender icing made of vegan natural coloring from beet root and spirulina. They even added gold flakes for my golden age. This was by far the most delicious vegan cake I've had yet! Wishing I could get one shipped to me for every occasion!

Desert after the rain latte takes me back to a coffee shop in San Luis Obispo, CA. I love this coffee shop. It is small and cozy and everyone was so friendly.

This place is so cute. It is tucked back in a neighborhood and is a must visit. We had a Chai and a coffee and a couple of the pastries. The servers were lovely. Do yourself a favor and stop by. It's worth it.

Do not miss Bitter Sugar if you visit Marfa! It is not easy to find - inside a fence and toward the back. But do not give up -- follow the smell of the delicious coffee. The woman behind the counter is beyond kind - and despite a line of people (there for good reason), she exudes a welcoming calm. The coffee is top notch. The standout is the cornbread drizzled with hot honey that seems to sell out way before closing. The kolaches filled with brisket and jalapenos were also delicious.

Great location, cute interior & outside space w/ great vibes. The pastries and drinks are really good. We had a mixed berry kolache which was better than I expected. There was this wonderful drink towards the bottom of the menu called the Cold Brew Float... it was AMAZING! If you're able to order it, do it! Now I need to find somewhere in Austin that can recreate this delicious masterpiece. Bitter Sugar also carries some of the best looking MARFA swag. Check it out.

So I walked in here early on a weekend morning after a long bike ride. Someone was playing Mike Tyson's PunchOut on an NES while Sheryl Crow's "All I Wanna Do" was playing from... somewhere, and a timer was going off. I was advised that the timer was for some sweets that were just coming out of the oven, which is concealed behind a curtain on the far side of the room. While I waited for my latte, I checked out the board game selection - Home Alone has a board game?! - and looked around at the posters and art. I kind of felt like I was stopping by a friend's house, instead of at a coffee shop, which I didn't mind at all.My coffee was fantastic, the slice of cake I enjoyed was nice, too. Pleasant seating is available outside.

BITTER SUGAR is a GREAT find. Their coffees are outstanding and their food delicious. The atmosphere is almost like being at your best friend's home for coffee and a breakfast snack. The service is excellent. You need to be patient as this is a small business that prides itself on quality and not quantity. You might have to wait a minute for your order BUT IT IS WELL WORTH THE WAIT.

Best coffee in Marfa with a rustic atmosphere and lumberyard charm. Also just had to write that the disgruntled man who left the 3 star review was an out-of-towner whose dog would growl at people and behave in a nervous fashion. Apparently this man is the type to order one coffee and sit for 6 hours, making odd comments about girls. So no....his assessment is from the point of view of lacking accountability for being kind of a general creep. Good riddance. This ain't a Starbucks kinda town... so when you behave oddly here, be prepared to be taken to task for said behavior, and then gtfo.In other news, the baking at Bitter Sugar is utterly exquisite. Please try the vegan lemon scone...it is insanely decadent.
