Broke my derailleur on a ride in Davis Mountains. Drove to Alpine as this is the only shop within 200 miles. John, the owner, initially said the thing was fried and I had to buy a new one online. I insisted that I needed to ride this weekend and couldn't wait. So he invited me back to his shop and we looked at it together. We tried a bunch of stuff, John eventually called in his bike-wizard Jeff (engineer and former racer) and over the course of a few hours he took the derailleur apart , straightened bent parts, and reassembled it. We listened to NPR and talked about life in Alpine. Great guys, and only asked for $20 for the fix and their whole afternoon.Awesome dudes, reasonable prices. Can't beat it!

I came in looking for special tubes, or at least spare tubes for my bike. I told the helpful gentleman behind the counter that I was planning on biking around Big Bend. He warned me that I'd be going through a whole lot of tubes, unless I picked up some green gunk to put in my tires. He explained how to do it, made sure I had an air pump, because he had one and was willing to do it for me if I didn't! The prices were fair, and his advice saved me a whole lot of problems when I got to the park! Thanks Bikeman!

The Bikeman shop is really good for such a remote loacation. I was able to buy everything I needed, and at a very very reasonable price. I have been a cyclist for 35yrs. I am in Alpine to ride around on my single speed 29er BMX cruiser this week. Great town for bicycles. I have owned a bicycle shop myself in the past. Bikeman is doing it exactly right for Alpine.

I visited his shop mid-February, 2019. John, the Bikeman, is friendly and helpful. We rented two cruisers and enjoyed them while riding around Alpine seeing the sights. No problems, very reasonable price. He was very accommodating and it was a pleasure doing business with him. He's an interesting character, having biked across the US and somehow found his way to settle in this enchanted part of Texas. I'll recommend the Bikeman to friends and anyone looking for a fun way to get around Alpine, Texas.

Bikeman is the BEST in the area (and one of the only). A super nice guy that came to the area to see haley's comet, fell in love with the area and never left. Fortunately, he also loves to fix bikes and saw the need so he opened a quaint little shop in Alpine. Bikeman helped me fix a flat that my 4 year old got when riding his bike through our campsite in Marfa. Those pesky goatheads will do a number on your bicycle tires! He also helped me fill my other 2 bikes with green slime to beef them up for the rough west Texas terrain. As a mom traveling with 2 kids over spring break I was delighted to find such a genuine and helpful guy. He also gave me some spare parts and advice on the best way to get out to chinati hot springs, our next destination.

A camping buddy wanted to get a bike so he could ride with me at times. We located Bikeman thru google maps. After reading the reviews I thought he might only be a repair shop. We were geocaching in Fort Davis and gave him a call, he said he had a few bikes for sale so we took a chance and went to take a look. He has quite a few bikes for such a small shop. He's also super helpfull. My friend got a great bike for a decent price. I even got stuff to practically bomb proof my tires which my LBS in Cedar Hill doesn't carry. This shop is worth the trip from anywhere around here. BTW, we're on vacation camping at Balmorhea S.P.

Very helpful & reasonable prices! Glad I stopped in.. the Bikeman diagnosed my problem, fixed it quickly, & offered a lot of other useful advice. Great to find in this remote section of Texas.
