Finally got to try the Currywurst sausage from Berliner Freheit truck at Grace Gardens today. They're usually at the Upper Valley and Country Club farmer's markets on the weekends or at the Iheartradio station on the weekdays and their lines are usually long. On their off days they cater. Today was no exception, but I was determined to try them out. Their menu is simple and straightforward. I asked them for a small sample of the Currywurst sauce and I expected them to give me a little cup or spoon to try, but they cut up sausage and actually gave me the piece to get the full experience. They warned me it was hot from the grill and didn't rush me, even though they had a line behind me. So sweet and proud of their food, I was sold at 1st bite. You can order it to go in a plate or in a to go box. I had kids so a to go box was safer. The entire family pitched out, from the dad grilling to the mom making crepes (next on my to try list) to the so taking out the trash and restocking the napkins....the daughter took the orders and actually sought me out in another line to give my food! Talk about caring about their customers and service with a smile! I've stolen bites from hubby's sausage with sauerkraut and it's really good, but the unsung star is their homemade Currywurst sauce. Think of a sweet and tangy tomato based bbq sauce spiked with notes of curry...it is sooo good and addictive, no wonder they sell bottles of it! The sauce was the star, but the sausage wasn't too shabby either; it was meaty, juicy, and tender with a nice snap. The bun was also a surprise, not dense at all but light and sweet. I am now in trouble because I now can't choose between my favorite bbq (Rollin'Smoke) or this new sleeper hit. Berliner Freheit might have a bit of an edge right now because its easier to consume on the go. Both sauces and dishes are divine and I encourage you to try them out. Especially if you haven't had currywurst...it's definitely a treat when it's done well like it's done here at Berliner Freheit. Come out and #supportlocal

This probably the most authentic tasting brawt I have had. Even by the look of it, my assumption is it is imported. Had a good snap when bitting in to it, juicy, full of flavor. They have house made kraut which for me was a bit too sweet but was still very good. 9/10. Found this gem at the Farmer's market off Mesa.follow them on facebook or instagram at berliner.freiheit.

Echter Geschmack!I stumbled upon this gem at El Paso Comic Con last weekend. Their brats are great by themselves- nice and juicy with good snap- and are only enhanced by the tasty homemade kraut you can get on the side. However, their Currysauce is the BOMB!! The flavors took me right back to my student days in West Germany. Sweet, spicy, and rich with tomatoes, pepper and curry, this sauce was so impressive my husband (who had never had it) insisted we get two jars!As a note: this is great not only with sausage but also on chicken. Now, they just need to ship...Vielen Dank, Familie Dittberner!

Wow! Best Brats Ever! The crunch of the brat was amazing and had the nice coloring too! The flavor was beyond scrumptious with the accompaniment of the oh so good bread, made for a mouth watering symphony! The genuine love for what they are creating is evident in the smile during hand off. Don't forget to take a few to go, you won't regret it. LOVED these Brats! Can't wait to go back!
