I am not, nor have I ever been, a "gym rat". The idea of going to a gym has always incited a bit of social anxiety in me. And this one was no different.. at first. Luckily for me, I got to know Dawn Armstrong, facility director, and she helped make me much more comfortable. I started with a few group classes just to familiarize myself with the facility. I tried Tai Chi, Spin, Yoga.. they were all pretty intense workouts! After that, I branched out on my own a little bit and got more familiar and comfortable with the other areas. The best thing about this gym is that, with CaC registration, you get 24 hour access! Although, it is limited to the outer facilities. In the main gym is a free weight room, cross fit-esque room, spin/yoga room, racquetball court, basketball court, and m/f saunas and locker rooms. These only allow access during business hours (0530-2000 M-f and 0730-1600 Sat) The two outer facilities are 24 hr accessible. One is a cardio room with treadmills, ellipticals, stair steppers, bikes, and a row machine. The other is the nautilus equipment room with a full range of machines, dumbbells, kettlebells, and squat bar/rack.It's not exactly a top of the line, super huge and fancy type of facility .. but for WSMR with it's small population, it gets the job done!
