I have been to several yoga places. I have been disappointed by almost all of them. I have not loved any of them. However when I learned and experienced Ananda I found my place. I love this place. All of those who teach. Have experience respect our bodies. Teach us how to become more balanced on the mat and our daily practice. I cannot recommend this place enough.

My wife (who is a 5-year yoga teacher) and I were TURNED AWAY from a class because she was PREGNANT! The instructor appeared shocked that my wife even wanted to take a class. The instructor then insisted that we needed, "a doctor's release" but even then only able to take the owner's evening class. A good teacher should know variations for different body types and conditions. Ananda's obvious pregnancy bias is no way to spread yoga or conduct business. Be wary yoga teachers with such a gap in knowledge/practice.

This is in response to the 2 - 1/5 star reviews given by the angry perinatal couple turned away in 2016. My comment is too long to add to theirs, so I am writing this to them. I haven't been to Ananda yoga and was looking to reviews to decide whether or not I should patronage, as a professional business who is looking to protect themselves from liability, they should and have the right to deny or accept your participation of practice. I have come to this conclusion that you are bullying this small business and you and your other 1 star wife have a poor basis to give them a 1/5 stars. If your wife being that she was pregnant a seasoned and experienced yoga instructor doesn't give her the right to have an exception, this is black or white. She should understand the liability involved of those who don't have the knowledge, background or training to do yoga, so fortunately she does, so why not do perinatal yoga on your own?? Better yet , with your wife's passion why not develop a perinatal yoga class to support your cause? Build up rather than break down. Ganging up on Ananda with yours and your wife's 1 star reviews, I find that targeting, ganging up on, disrespectful and misuse of yelp. I have no connection with Ananda again nor do I know the owners. I'm just a normal person looking at reviews and think that you and your wife have aggressively misused this services and should take one of your posts down to accurately reflect the one experience you are referencing. I'll be updating my post after I attend a class, 2 or 3.Respectfully,Jana

I was turned away at the door when I tried to take a basic yoga because I was pregnant. Even after explaining that I was an experienced yogi with no health problems, they still would not let me take the class. For a studio to turn away a woman for being pregnant was very disappointing. I can understand the issue of liability, but if they have proper insurance and release waivers, it really shouldn't be an issue. I can't take this studio seriously and will not recommend it to my friends.

I started going to Ananda, I believe soon after the holidays last year. Often I dreaded going in because I knew the mighty work that would be going on between my body and myself. Never fails. The yoga instructors are kind and dedicated to providing the best yoga experience. You keep up as best you can and only compete with yourself. Kindness to your body as you stretch is the key that is taught here. Betsy and Gilberto, owners, are masters at their craft. I HIGHLY recommend Ananda Yoga Pilates & Wellness! Everyone is knowledgeable, kind and helpful. It is changing my life.

I was really excited when I saw a special for unlimited yoga for $45 for the month of January. It was easy to purchase the pass on Ananda's website, and I could even sign up for classes online or on their app. However, the yoga classes were incredibly disappointing. I took several of the "Basics and Beyond" and "Hatha All Level" classes with as many different instructors as possible, but I was consistently let down. I have been doing yoga for several years, and I found the instructors here to be unclear and generally unhelpful. I also strongly disliked the vibe of the studios; they use too much incense, which irritated my skin and made it difficult to breathe, and the instructors set up the rooms in a way that uses the space poorly and made it generally uncomfortable. Overall, this place was a huge disappointment.

Betsy and Gilberto, the instructors and owners, are extremely knowledgeable and encouraging Pilates Instructors. I find that the workout is challenging for all fitness levels and I always leave feeling so much better than when I walked in! I love the small group size, guidance, and zen like environment at Ananda.

I have been a faithful student of this yoga studio for years. Betsy and Gilberto, the owners, are excellent. I take classes at least 3 times a week and have done so for years. This is a traditional yoga practice and i love it. I will continue attending classes here as long as the studio is open. I read another review where a couple was angry because they were turned away because the wife was pregnant. Apparently they would not even sign a release. If the couple were someone Gilberto and Betsy knew as regular students, and they signed a release, just maybe it would be Ok. However, a stranger to them? No. I am a lawyer and although I am not the studio's lawyer, I think they did the responsible thing to turn the couple away.
