El Papas Fritas Taco Shop

That Cali surf and turf goes hard. My daughter told me I needed to try this place, we went and I am not disappointed.

My family has been going here since they first opened. We gave it 5 stars back then, but this place is not like how it used to be. The quality of food and service has significantly gone down.Recently, we ordered a beef burrito and California burrito with chicken, and they were disgusting. First, some bits of the beef inside the beef burrito were completely raw and red. Second, the chicken inside my California burrito tasted like straight rotisserie chicken. Worst of all, there was a HUGE chunk of bone in it (pictured). I had to throw the rest of it away because I was so grossed out and lost my appetite.I went back to the restaurant and confronted the owner privately about the issues with our food so it does not happen again. I was not looking for any form of compensation; I really just wanted to let him know to help his business. He started off pretending not to understand English (which from years of ordering here I know is not true), then he proceeded to accuse me of lying and was extremely rude and dismissive. Unfortunately, he has lost a loyal, day-1 customer. Don't go here. We'll be finding a new go-to spot for Mexican food.

When I heard where this was. I thought... no way this could be better than a 2 star spot. Feels like it was sorta in the middle of nowhere. Welp I was wrong. Four stars easily. The area looks rough when you pull up and when you walk in, it equally looks like it. And coming from where I come from...That's how you know the flavors about to be dope. Menu is huge. They got damn near every dish you could think of and different variations like one with hot Cheetos. For that reason alone, it gets 3 stars because everyone will find something they want here. The burrito was huge. I ate a ton and almost couldn't finish my Cali burrito. There's an orange salsa which was spicy and my new favorite salsa. Service was quick. There's a few seats (maybe 5?) available if you need to come and sit and eat. Bachata and Cumbia playing in the background. Solid place.

The food here is average. They're open late and there's always parking, it's a small taco shop located right next to Louie's Marketplace. The staff is nice, the food is honestly just okay. Seems like it's a Filipino Mexican fusion. In my opinion, the flavors can mix but for this taco shop not too much. The flavors are lacking for both Filipino and Mexican flavors. Portions are decent. Prices are average. Would I eat here? Sure, it's down the street and open late. But I don't go out of my way to come here nor do I ever crave it.

It's a pretty good place that offers a variety of meat on fries in addition to its other traditional burritos. I got the carne asada curly fries. It was tasty - the fries were crispy and the meat tasted decent. The prices were on the high end, so if you guys are local here I'd recommend it.

Off of 54th street, located on 5413 Redwood street, San Diego, CA 92105 USA Home of the 20 inch burrito. "Monster" It's a small restaurant with a 15 minute parking in front but there's plenty of parking across the street for unlimited time. Once you enter, to the right is a small dining area. In front of you, there's a a big menu hanging on each of the walls. We had a person ordering before us & it's our first time here as well. There was one cashier/cook, he was very busy getting down in the kitchen and taking our orders fast, he spoke super fast but got our orders right. We ordered the curly fries carne sada and pork Loganisa curly fries. It was huge! Feeds about three people per box. The price is pretty hefty but you definitely get a lot of food. The curly carne sada consisted of sour cream, guacamole, chipotle and cheese. The pork loganisa had everything the curly carne sada had except it had fried egg on top. The pork loganisa had flavor but both of the entree was mainly all curly fries and not much protein, guacamole nor sour cream. I wished they put more protein, guacamole and sour cream; It will definitely make a difference. One thing for sure is that he hooked it up! The salsas were great, my favorite were the green salsa and a orange color salsa; I believe it was habenero. It had some kick to it. The red one I can do without. You can grab as much salsa as you want! Don't be shy! They accept cash or cards!

Excellent meal, I ordered Bolt Fries, and the Cali Surfing Burrito. The Bolt Fries were delicious, and the marinated Carne Asada, and the sweet Longanzia paired really well with each other; the portion of the fries was huge, Most people take a couple of days to finish them. The Cali Surfing Burrito was excellent as well, and didn't skimp out on the quantity of shrimp inside of the burrito like other restaurants in the San Diego area sometimes do. All in all, the food is very good, and you get a lot of it for your money. I'll definitely be a repeat customer to this spot.

I placed a DoorDash order for 2 posole and 1 menudo. I received 1 posole and 2 menudo. My dasher told me to reach out to the store, but gave me a refund. I called the store and they told me to reach out to door dash that it is not their responsibility and hung up on me. I reorder the posole on DoorDash with my credit and it was immediately cancelled because they are out of posole. So basically they tried to give me menudo instead, thinking I wouldn't notice because they sold out of posole. The right thing would have been to not fulfill the full order with DoorDash, or at least be honest on the phone and not blame DoorDash for their mistake and unprofessionalism. Horrible service.

Was visiting my parents and wanted some good Mexican food so I hopped on Yelp and saw this taco shop had Filipino fusion. Highly recommend the longganisa fries with curly fries. Shop owner was friendly and got my order out quick. Salsa here's have a strong kick so if you don't like spicy foods, limit the amount you put on. Curly fries as the fry option is a superior choice of fries from the standard cut for me. The outside gets saucy while the inside stay nice and crispy. Huge portions, great hole in a wall hidden gem in the community.

Amazing!!! Burritos are so delicious. Trust me you won't go wrong. And remember hole in the wall places are the best!!
