Definitely one of my favorite and most frequently visited Mexican restaurants near our apartment. It's incredibly laid back and has that classic taco spot appeal and look. Always a good game of futbol on the tv backed by ranchero singing. The service is polite, informative and friendly. Now you can get pretty much any of your Mexico City staples here but what I always get is a torta chilanga (fantastic if you love spicy food), or tacos de tripa fried nice and crispy with their house made tepache that's so amazingly refreshing.

Came here after a long day of moving & it was a great self date spot. It looked small from the front but there is a lot of space for groups & even has outdoor seating. My hunger was strong & pleasantly surprised at the size. I literally said, oh my god, when the server brought it out. I'm glad I didnt get a dinner combo because I got full off of half. The mexican coke paired nicely & filled me up so I couldn't finish it all. Chips & salsa come complimentary. Put in pandemic pricing, $10.95 for this large torta is not bad when it can fill you up & leave food for later :) I put 4 stars because I wasn't the fan of the cheese used. Stay tuned... Moving into pilsen, I'm going to make it a goal to try every torta at the local shops.

Pilsen is where the Mexican community resides. It used to be Czech before WWII, but like all neighborhoods, people moved out, and new people moved in.There are many Mexican restaurants in Pilsen (but the number has declined). El Mezquite Taqueria is next to our favorite restaurant, Five Rabbanitos. It was closed, so we went here instead. The interior is bright and busy, and takeout is the leading way food is delivered. We decided to eat inside and were brought to a back booth where a groovy Frieda Kahlo painting by some artist had her smoking a cigarette. Good start! The menu is what you would expect, and they could make beef stroganoff if you ask them (kidding!). The servers speak little English. I ordered the taco dinner, and my wife ordered the chicken soup. The plating was good, and the food was fine. For two plates and two drinks, it cost $38.Overall, this is a good joint to visit.

This is a good local, authentic spot! The menu has several options ranging from tacos to burritos to huaraches! A vegetarian in our group really enjoyed her veggie tacos as they were flavorful and filling. We found the asada and chicken burritos to be a bit salty for our palates but the portions were enormous. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. The service was great as our server checked on us often and made sure we weee enjoying our meals. Definitely recommend!

On a lazy day, when I visited my son, he suggested we walk around Pilsen and get something to eat. When we got there, we walked around, and he suggested two restaurants, of which we chose this one.It isn't fancy but looks traditional on the inside. They have a nice seating area and outdoor seating, which we chose. The Torta Chilanga was wonderful. It's a favorite of my son's, and it is a lot of food. As for the Chalutas, the smell is what first got me. I found the food delicious.Of course, I should have mentioned the chips and salsa. They served their house-cooked salsa and a Salsa Verde and Salsa Roja. None were particularly spicy but very flavorful.

I love this place for so many years but today they did not want me to use my Apple Pay because of $.76. I just didn't understand why they couldn't make an exception since I've been going for so many years and the owner daughter tried to tell me about how the credit machine works as far as fees. Not realizing that I've been in Rico for about 20 years. I'm just not sure why they have this policy when I've literally have purchased things for two or three dollars there for the past couple years without anyone telling me anything.

This place did not disappointed us. El huarache 11' was amazing, I got it with asada and pumpkin flower. My friend got the chicken soup with handmade tortillas. The only but I have for this place is that you can't split the check.

The food was delicious! It was also on time when it was delivered. The only downfall is that it is not always available for delivery. Not sure why. This is our go to Mexican place for delivery!
