El Carbon Mexican Eatery

I decided to try for takeout for lunch today. Has been open 3 weeks. Just DELICIOUS.the guacamole & chips & carne asada bowl fresh ingredients & spices are perfect.Friendly staff and the interior is warm and welcoming. I look forward to returning for dinner and for lunch dining in.Don't think you be disappointed if you eat here. They offer discounts during lunch and happy hour.

To begin, I really don't know about the food because they ruined my burrito by putting cheese in it when I specifically asked and even had the server repeat back to me, "no cheese". Even odder is it's a SHRIMP burrito and there is close to never cheese in that. Regardless, when someone has an aversion, or allergy, or just doesn't like something, it's not up to YOU to decide whether or not you'll respect it. On the positive, the server couldn't have been more apologetic or nice about it. She said it was only their second week and verified the no cheese had been put on the ticket but the cook had overlooked it. So, in short, they remade my burrito but I was already repulsed.My fiancee actually LOVED her food and I suggested this place to a friend who has been multiple times. Having just moved from LA it's hard to find good Mexican in Scottsdale even though everyone claims it exists. Maybe not smothering every dish with cheese would be a good start as in Mexico most things do NOT come layered in it. But, that's just a personal preference.So not wanting to give 1 star to this place for something that is worthy of 1 star, mostly b/c my fiancee loved the food and my friend has been back and reviewed a few times, I settled on 3 stars. They did give us dessert which was an amazing rendition of churros. Would I be back...Maybe. But I'd also not stop anyone from at least trying this place out.

I met my brother here for lunch yesterday. We were tired of all the usual places and were happy to try something new. El Carbon did not disappoint! I had the shrimp tacos, he had the chicken tacos and we tried the mushroom tacos as well. We both really enjoyed what we ordered, and the mushroom ones were absolutely delicious! But, topping even the tacos, was the beans dip they serve with the chips and salsa. I did not know what to expect from appearance, but let me tell you it is addicting! I could not stop eating it. Jacob our server was spot-on and made us feel very welcomed. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend!!

Really nice restaurant overall. The tacos and enchiladas were very good. Ambiance was nice. Decor was also nice. Different. It doesn't jump out at you as a Mexican restaurant. Don't misunderstand. I don't mean it's a bad thing to look like a Mexican restaurant. I love authentic decor, too.

Amazing!! Food and drinks were spot on. The flavor, ooo wee!! So good! And I am beyond picky with my food. Jordan and Jacob are your go to. Great service and ambience. 1000% recommend!! Gotta shout out to the kitchen staff as well. Thank you, truly!

This place is awesome !! We had high hopes and it delivered. We have been back like 3 times in 2 weeks great food big portions great price .. same people that own publico

Very enjoyable lunch today at this 3 week old restaurant. Fresh & delish, excellent staff and nicely priced. Check then out you will not be disappointed!

The food was amazing. For a party of 7, we had a phenomenal time! The GM Jordan was an excellent host! Next time we come from Vegas, we'll definitely visit.

We've been waiting for this place to open & finally here. We live across the street & this area has struggled with good options -I think they finally have something that will last & be great for the neighborhood! We had chicken enchiladas, carne asada tacos, house marg & churros. We would order all of it again though I thought chicken enchiladas were the best. Hard to make chicken standout but flavor was outstanding with Christmas style sauce. The churros we think will be a weekly order ! Service was attentive & thankful for our business!

The ambience is comfortable and relaxed. The service was attentive and knowledgeable.The food was delicious, fresh and properly prepared.Definitely recommended!
