Oh man I was so incredibly excited about this place. I'm half Thai and always craving Thai flavors/food at breakfast time. My two kids, husband, and I made a special trip into the city, over an hour away from us, paid for parking, etc. on his day off from work on a holiday weekend to come here. Unfortunately, we had a bad experience. Now, we got there at almost 1 pm, but they were still open for a couple hours. The servers were eating and turned around to stare at us when we walked in. That never feels welcoming even though I totally get it! There was only one other table of diners eating at the time. We were greeted and then sat at a table that had an open jelly container on a chair and my daughter unknowingly sat on it, getting it on her skirt. One kid wanted a waffle with bananas flambe--they were out of both. The other wanted french toast with bananas--also out. So they both ordered pancakes with "mixed berries" and got simply just blueberries. They had to ask for whipped cream which was supposed to come with, and it took a while to get.We ordered a Thai coffee--they were out. They offered us a complimetary Thai tea but it wasn't very good. It was thick and I couldn't figure what was going on with its sweetish but bland taste. My husband order the Taste of Thailand omelette--he got served shrimp omelette instead. By the time he got the replacement (someone who came in after us got served the same thing way sooner than he did, did they accidentally get his?) we had all been done with our food for quite some time. He sent it back because he was fed up with waiting. Too bad because it sounded soooo good.I orded the kao moo dang and the flavors were just what I wanted--like the inside of a char siu bao! And the Thai sausage on the rice is my favorite kind so no complaints there. The egg was fully hardboiled instead of half and I didn't think it needed so much gravy on the pork but overall I liked it and ate it up. (I shared with my husband who had no food in front of him). The place was clean but obviously a (former?) rotary sushi/teppanyaki place. In the end, the staff apologized profusely and offered to remove my husband's dish from the bill, plus half off, but the bill was only 20% off. My husband left hungry and honestly pretty mad.I want this place to succeed because I support (and crave!) the concept and small Thai businesses, but I can't say we'll be back. Such a shame! In hindsight, I wish they'd adopt a more Thailand-street-food model: focus on what you cook really well and forget the rest. No one can do it all! And even though the concept appealed to a "mixed" family like mine--"best of both worlds"--if you will, I think there's enough people in Chicagoland who will come just for a unique, delicious, reliable breakfast experience on its own. Just make sure you don't dawdle and have enough ingredients to get through the day.

Nice causual spot for some causal Thai and American breakfast food. I think this is relatively new. It's clean and modernly decorated. The menu had a good mix of Asian and American food. Omelet, hashbrow, pancake, Thai sausage, rice, congee. I had the shrimp Omelet and thought that it was just okay. I really liked the chili sauce that it came with. The staff was great! They saw that I had a stroller and offered me a seat in the back so that I could easily park it next to me. When I was exited, they opened the door for me. Although my food was just okay,I would come back to try something new (like the congee) because the staff was accommodating and place was clean.

Went for breakfast/brunch this morning got lost when trying to find it as it was on the right of the shabu restaurant but after calling we were directed in Ambiance: relatively small space, well decorated, very clean, and all the tables and chairs are high up - restaurant wasn't too loud, not sure if music was playing, but we were greeted by a nice waitress and I believe a manager - we were seated right away Service: very kind and patient wait staff - super friendly and offered us refills on our soup! They also checked up on us frequently throughout the meal & let me see their dinner offerings Food: I got the Thai crab omelette (~ $14) and my friend got the Thai Hainan Chicken. Portions were pretty big considering we both still had half our meals to take home! We both really enjoyed our food - for the Thai crab omelette in particular, it was perfectly crisp on the outside and nice and fluffy on the inside. Had nice big chunks of crab and paired so well with the spicy-sweet sauce. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to have it again I also got a Thai tea ($5) - it came in a tall glass - nothing special, a little bit bland and creamy for my taste and not super cold. Not bad but wouldn't get it again. Overall, I hope to frequent this spot for more of their offerings! Very satisfied with my experience & again, that omelette is so good

We had such a delicious brunch at Egg O Egg in Chicago yesterday. The Moo Ping Pork was so tender and delicious! It comes with Sticky Rice, Cabbage Slaw, and spicy sauce.I added a Thai Tea to my meal, and it was really good with a cinnamon tasting bite. They just opened on March 8th and are quickly becoming the place for Thai Breakfast and Brunch. The staff is so friendly and helpful I felt like one of the family. They are connected to Friends Station Rotary Sushi in chicago on State Street.Open every day from 7 am to 3 pm.Don't delay, visit EggO Egg today!

On my last day in Chicago, I decided to stop by for breakfast. It was next to the Friends Station, where I had dinner the other day. The price seems reasonable, but many items come with jasmine rice, which is too much for me for breakfast, and I am not a big fan of rice, especially in the morning. We ordered the Thai congee and side order of the steamed bread to share. Thai congee was just right texture, not too watery or thick, highly recommended.

Came across this place on my IG feed and decided to come try it out for lunch. Located on the corner of State and Chicago next to Friend Station. Metered street parking available. Restaurant is kind of small, but given a newer restaurant it wasn't packed. The food was good. We ordered a little bit of everything to try. Everything was good. I was a little disappointed in the Thai Crab Omelette, I didn't taste or see any crab. The egg was thick and fluffy though. The sauce to all the dishes were good addition to the rice. The bbq has enough flavor as is so I skipped the sauce for that one. Not a bad place for lunch. Decent price with good portion.

We ordered the thai congee, egg waffles, orange juice and thai iced tea. The thai congee was really good. They also brought over other spices you can add to the congee but the congee itself was already very tasty. It was kind of luke warm rather than hot? But that's probably the way it should be. I don't know enough to comment on that. The egg waffle was just average. It was a bit on the soft and soggy side. The server was really nice. He even offered us slices of oranges after our meal. I will come back to try other things definitely!

Such a unique experience! I started with the Thai iced tea and it was the perfect amount of sweet and creamy. The green chilaquiles were so good and I loved the crispy potatoes. The Thai congee they were able to make vegetarian for us, which was very nice. It was comforting and I appreciated the addition of veggies. It was a bit bland though, but with a little black pepper and hot sauce, it was good. The bubble waffle was so so good- the perfect way to finish the meal.

I was searching for lunch options in the area and was pleasantly surprised to find this interesting option within a stone's throw of my office. I was feeling Asian food today so I ordered something for pickup and headed over.Egg O Egg is located within the Friends Station/Friends Sushi/Friends Ramen building on the corner of Chicago and State. It appears to be a ghost kitchen situation with a Thai breakfast menu that you can order for pickup/delivery; unsure if you are able to order in-person and eat inside the restaurant. The (current) signs for Egg O Egg are easily missable - a few posted flyers and a "NOW OPEN" banner - outside the door. I was a bit confused coming in as I was not aware that the restaurant was housed within the other restaurants, but was eventually able to find my pickup spot.I ordered the Thai Sausage Breakfast for $13.95 and was.... sorely disappointed when I opened the order back at my office. It's four very dry-looking sausages packaged unceremoniously on a light bed of vegetables, with a saran wrapped chunk of sticky rice. I do acknowledge that to-go orders are always packaged less glamorously than if you were to dine in person, but regardless, it wasn't a very good impression based solely on the amount of food that I saw.The food tasted pretty good. The sausages, although looking unappetizing, were quite good and appropriately seasoned. The sticky rice had no flavor and was just that: sticky rice. I finished the entire $13.95 dish in about 3 minutes.Overall... a pretty mediocre experience. I am curious about some other menu items so will likely give them a few more shots before I reach my final decision on the place. It's a decently tasting restaurant with terribly scant portions and that's really all I can say right now.

Great location right by the train station. Have never been to a Thai breakfast place, so I loved the concept! Thai congee was very filling and warm for a rainy day. The salad paired with the Thai sausage side was well seasoned and complimented the sausage well. Service was speedy and attentive and the restaurant seemed to have slow traffic since they just started. It seems this is an AYCE hot pot place in the evening so the signs confusing (it says Friends Station), but it's Egg o Egg from 7am-3pm. Overall: convenient spot, good food and flavor, quiet restaurant, service was attentive and nice. (-:
