*Plans next trip to Houston for cookies*This place has the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had! It's a small shop, but the product speaks for itself! I've also tried the strawberry and dulce de leche "chubby" cookies as well. Both are strong contenders, but I will be back for that chocolate chip every visit!

I had high expectations for this place because of the reviews. I am a dessert snob. I love high quality sweet treats. This wasn't it! lol. Inside is cute, there is a nice display of cakes and cookies. I love Red Velvet & there were three options for Red Velvet treats, a cookie, a cupcake, and a slice of cake. I almost went with the cupcake but because of how high my expectations were I decided on the cake. Normally Red Velvet cake is made with cream cheese frosting but I got a slice for a different place and it was just vanilla icing. I don't like that so I asked the woman at the register if it was made with cream cheese. Her answer, "I don't know." Ma'am, you work here? You should know this. That is where the first star was lost. I finally try the cake and it is sad. It is thick dry, and crumbly, and the cream cheese icing is just as thick and just doesn't taste very good. Also, there is some sort of fruit filling in the middle of the cake. This is not standard for red velvet cake, so they should have that listed clearly. I hate fruit filling. I am not going to eat this cake. I can usually still finish even mediocre dessert but this is headed to the trash. I expected a lot more from a $9 slice of cake. I would have been better off with a slice from H-E-B. I've officially given up on finding good cake in Houston.

Right off the bat, this place is a little pricey, two pieces of cake and a brownie came out to $27. But it's pretty worth it to be honest. The brownie with toasted marshmallow on top was fantastic. Very chocolatey flavor and would be 10 ten times better when warmed up at home. Next up the slice of tiramisu, this was the best in show of the three, light and fluffy. Might have wanted a little more espresso flavor but it was very good. Last biscoff cheesecake, it was a little more dense that what I normally like in a cheesecake but you can really taste the biscoff. The place was small and cute and personally I loved who was at the counter.

Wanted dessert for the weekend so we came here and weren't disappointed! I got the banana pudding and the chocolate mousse cake. The banana pudding was pretty good, but the chocolate mousse was my favorite by far. The service was very friendly. There's so many options it can be overwhelming, but I'll just have to come back and try something new. Very small inside. No seating that I recall. More of a take the dessert to go place. There may be seating outside.

Hubs and I stopped in after dinner as Eat Cake had been in my bookmarks for a while now, and it was directly in our path after leaving Squable. We were actually on our way to another local dessert shop (our favorite), but decided to give into the moment and stop. The good: The staff was friendly and the chubby cookie (chocolate chip) was chunky, had a nice crunch, and was deliciously buttery. Perfect. The indifferent: The namesake. The cake. This was to be the "true tell" as whether or not Eat Cake earns repeat visits. And unfortunately, it didn't meet the mark with the Almond Raspberry cake that was suggested and we bought. First, the cake & texture: it's giving a denser angel food cake, which the hubs was fine with, but I'm not into it. The almond extract was strong in this one. Would have loved more balance. Icing: Whipped/heavy cream-esque. Meh. Give me a light buttercream or cream cheese icing with raspberry, always. Raspberry filling: too artificial tasting, with a lingering aftertaste. All in all, I'd potentially come back for the cookies as I wasn't hooked with the cake. Cheers!

AMAZING CAKES AND COOKIES! We have been searching all over town for cake that was not only moist, but carried both classic and unique flavors. This place is it!!! The chubby chocolate chip cookie is also worth mentioning! Highly recommend:- chubby chocolate chip cookie- chocolate cake- blueberry lemon cake- strawberry & cream cake- summer paradise cake [passion fruit]- giant wonderland chocolate cake We also were able to quickly order a whole cake for a birthday dinner that night that they were able to provide immediately. They also decorated it, which we didn't expect. It was a huge hit with all the girls! Will be returning soon to try other flavors!

My pictures do not do the deliciousness of these cakes justice. This is some of the most moist, baked confection perfection I have ever had. Inside there's a large display of various flavored cakes, 3 tiers, naked frosted, so many to choose from. We settled for a slice of lemon blueberry and chocolate. Lemon blueberry was a perfect balance of sweet and tart. There was lemon curd between the cake layers, a layer of blueberry compote. The frosting was so rich and tasted so good. The slice of cake was still moist the next day! The chocolate slice was amazing, I can't stress this enough. The people who make these baked goods are pouring love into it. The lady who boxed up our orders was nice. Their cakes are so good and I love to support local businesses. I will return to try additional flavors.

My wife and I stopped in on a lark after dinner nearby. She got a slice of the carrot cake, and I ordered one of my favorites, red velvet. Well, at least, it's usually a favorite but what's served at Eat Cake just isn't very good. The cake was dry and mostly flavorless, and the icing was no better--not the cream cheese icing you're used to if you've ever had a good red velvet cake--just bland, thin, and adding virtually nothing. Finally, there was some kind of jam or filling that I didn't even take the time to figure out what it was before throwing out the rest of it. My wife didn't have much better things to say about the carrot cake, but at least she didn't openly dislike her choice. More like a "meh" reaction. The service at Eat Cake is good enough, so it has that going for it, but I just wouldn't bother going back based on what I had this evening. It's not worth the calories for something so completely mediocre.

Picked 2 different slices, one lemon/blueberry and the other carrot cake. After spending almost $30 for 2 pieces of cake, we were disappointed in the quality. Both were dry and frosting was disappointing. I'll go the extra distance for Dessert Gallery!
