Don't be afraid to try African food especially if you are a vegetarian. LOVE East African Cuisines! She comes every Thursday to the Linda Vista's Farmer's Market and I come every Thursday for my fixin's. She is the sweetest lady and shared her seasoning mix with me to cook at home. I love LOVE her lentils and Im not even a big fan of lentils. Her Sambusas are super delish as well. She usually has 2 kinds of sambusas: beef and potato lentils (my favorite). I'm no vegetarian but I could eat her vegetarian food all day. Everything is very flavorful with lots of spices and unique flavor combinations. You can definitely taste some curry powder. A plate comes with rice, a broccoli curry sauce, lentils, and a carrots in a tomato base stew. She was nice enough to give me a beef sambusa since she knows I love her sambusas. I highly recommend and definitely will be going back.

The Vegan Plate ($6) from the East African Cuisine booth at the City Heights Farmer's Market. The Styrofoam clam-shell is piled with spiced yellow rice, dotted with peas and raisins, and topped with scoops of silky tomato braised eggplant, delicate black eye peas, and some of the best darn lentils I've ever had at a farmer's market. I actually came to the market to try the Somali food but it was sold out... so this was an unexpected treat!

I walked in to an East African yesterday afternoon to have lunch with my family. When I first arrived the head chef came in front and gave me a warm greeting. Engaged in a small conversation with me while we waited for our order to be completed. I choose this restaurant because I love how they take care of me. There is small store inside the restaurant which makes it unique. This restaurant is based on Ethiopian culture. This place is knowing for warm welcome which makes it special because not only that but also they have fresh meat every Thursday and Saturday. For starter they make sure we have water and see if we are comfortable in our table. The food they server was fresh and hot While we were eating Regiba inquired if there was anything else she could provide before I went about my day. Every time I come to this place their food has been amazing.

Tried this food at the Welk Resort Farmers market (north escondido). The lady was very very sweet and let me try a sample bc i had never tried African food before and it was delicious. I got a large plate and it was a lot of food, everything was very fresh and tasted so so good!! If i ever go to any other market and see her food I would eat it first before eating anywhere else
