Dr Bird’s Jamaican Patty Shack

We tried the beef and veggie patties and the wing meal, everything was fenomenal. Veggie patties A+Beef Patties A+Wing meal A+++Friendly service, food was fresh and made to order!This place is a must, support small family businesses. We took it to go, so by the time we got home we ate and forgot to take pictures.

I made my order online and it was ready at the time they said. The person who brought me my food was nice, and went back and grabbed some extra sauce. I had a Chicken Roti and some Coco bread and when I tell you this thang was hitting !!The food was very well seasoned, juicy and looking forward to coming back !

My husband came across this place while looking for a closer place where we could get some patties. We decide to go pick up some patties but saw it was nice and spacious. It wasn't crowded and after ordering, we were surprised.The food and service were equally excellent. I had the rasta pasta and a beef and cheese patty. My dish was a perfect serving size and oh so delicious! We can't wait to go back to try out some of their other menu items. The ambiance and music was so pleasant. The prices were good as well. We did takeout from here. The online menu is a little bit different than their PDF menu. I had to call and inquire about a few items and was told that they weren't currently available. Overall the pickup process was quick. The staff he was friendly and very chill. The interior is very spacious with one table being occupied. I'm assuming places like this are mostly takeout despite the big space. We ordered their Pop Style Poutine, Jerk Chicken Shawarma Dinna, and their Whole Smoked Whole Jerk Wings. The chicken shawarma was ordered mild, and I chose spicy for the wings but unfortunately did. It get any spiciness out of these wings. The wings did have a lot of flavor and were still tasty, but just felt like I was missing the heat that I have learned to love out of Jamaican food. The chicken shawarma was very tasty as well. The meat was tender and the flavors went perfect with the coco rice. The poutine as also a hit. You get black pepper fries, cheese curds, Dr. Birds sauce and scallions. A decent dish that is very filling. The Dinna's also came with a slaw that was so flavorful. I also ordered their plantains which are always delicious at any Jamaican restaurant. Overall I was really happy with everything we ordered. It's not your traditional Jamaican joint. It's different, and that's perfectly fine. Will definitely be willing to return, but I'm going to demand some damn heat though.

We stopped at Dr. Bird's and got some mild beef patties with cheese and the Pop Style Poutine with jerk chicken shawarma and Jerk Steak.We waited for about 20 minutes for our food in a nearly empty restaurant, not a problem, just didn't expect it.Service was nice, had some good music playing in the restaurant.The poutine with chicken was really good, i ordered it mild and was scared because it smelled spicy but it was super flavorful and not spicy at all. The jerk steak was good but smaller portion of meat than the chicken and a little dry. I would opt for the chicken every time here, so good.The beef patties were yummy too! The mild had the perfect level of spice for us.I wish we had stayed for drinks and desserts and would likely stop back in if we're close again.

I went to this place years ago when it first opened. Food was great! I'm not sure what happened. The service was bad, our server did not greet us which I usually don't mind but she looked like she just didn't care. It is seat yourself seating with no signage to do so. The QR codes to order were old and needed to be replaced because they didn't scan. The booths they have are terrible for seating, they're too far from the table. I had the rasta pasta with jerk steak, half a cornish hen, a spicy beef patty, shrimp taco and the Poutine. The pasta was disgusting. No flavor at all. And they gave me very little steak for an $9 up charge. The pasta just had no flavor at all. The cornish hen was good and juicy however. I enjoyed it a lot. The shrimp taco was bad, 2 pieces of shrimp for $6, not even worth it because the taco is soggy from the shrimp jerk sauce. The jerk chicken poutine was decent, their jerk sauce is just sweet and not spicy at all. Even when you order it spicy, it is still very sweet. Their jerk chicken shawarma was pretty good, honestly one of the better things on their menu. The spicy beef patty was very good but I have a feeling it was a frozen patty. They don't have their liquor license anymore so it is now BYOB, never listed anywhere on their website which was very annoying because I wanted to try their rum lemonade. The bathroom was also in need of a deep clean and it also had no soap.Overall, I will not be back. Food was not good and not worth the price. Upsetting that a place that used to be so good is now so bad.

Where has this restaurant been all my life. Finally a restaurant that knows how to cook some delicious jerk chicken with sides that are just as carvable!I had intended to dine in but unfortunately, there was no parking because all the street parking was taken. My to go order, was jerk chicken wings dinner, which included rice and cabbage. I also ordered a beef hand pie and a order of corn. Everything was fresh, cooked to perfection, and the seasonings were on point. I originally wanted to order the Cornish hen, or the full bird, but they were sold out of that, so I opted for the wings. I had their Ginger and turmeric tea mixed with their lemonade. It was off the chain, refreshing! The person who took my order was extremely helpful. I definitely plan to return for the dine in experience, and to sample a few more menu options. They are a little on the pricey side but worth every penny.

It's got that that lightly charred marinade with super tender meat? This is a perfect example of that. Add the chicken broth x coconut shaving rice x plantains bring this all together.Shrimp w/ Rice + Slaw + PlaintainThe rice is where it's at. Get the rice if you don't get the shrimp. Salmon Roti Tender salmon on flatbread it feels like. Super good.Beef Patty Buttery and flakey pastry w/ nicely seasoned beef. As good as they come.Fries w/ Aoli Has the double fried outside with a really nice Aoli.

I've come to Dr. Bird's quite a few times now, and it's always a great time with solid food and the friendliest staff. So far, my favorite items have been the Rasta Pasta, Jerk Chicken Wings, and Plantains. The Rasta Pasta is so creamy, cheesy, and flavorful-- it's an absolute delight. The Jerk Chicken Wings are extremely tender, fall right off the bone, and well spiced and seasoned. Plantains always make a delicious and sweet side.Their patties are great too-- the outer pastry is flaky and soft with a steaming, flavorful filling. My favorite ones are the Spicy Beef Patty and Chicken Patty. The only things I've had that I didn't like as much here are the roti and Jerk Fried Chicken Sandwich. I got the Salmon Roti, and the salmon was tender and flavorful, but the roti itself was dry and lacking flavor. The chicken in the jerk fried chicken sandwich was well spiced, but unfortunately pretty dry. Otherwise, everything else I've tried has always hit the spot.The prices are very solid too-- usually a filling meal here will be ~$15. If you live nearby, I also recommend you order their stuff on the TooGoodtoGo app-- they usually give 3 patties for $4! Stumbled upon this awesome local joint on a food tour. The owner was super nice and accommodating to 15 people all at once wanting patties!! The decor is such a great vibe and it felt warm and inviting.Patty: little hand pies! So savoury and filled with flavour! I'll be back to try more!
