Overall decent but nothing life changing here. The view is pretty. The service was quite good. Food was just average though. Very limited option in the area makes this basically the spot you have to go to however if you want a harbor view.

Food was very good, view was lovely. We had shrimp Mac n cheese and Bouillabaisse. Note the broth was more like a sauce.Service was good. They brought a heater to the table as the evening cooled off.We were surprised at a $2.50 charge on the bill for the crab artichoke dip. Hubby is GF and they provided tortilla chips instead of crostini. Didn't see anything about fee on menu. They didn't subtract anything for the bread omitted from the Bouillabaisse. There was also a $.75 charge for the dessert we got to go. If you want it to go, wait until it arrives to ask for a box.

This review goes out to a specific group of dog families, so if you don't have a dog you're planning to bring here, this review probably won't be that helpful! So, if you have a dog that will calmly lay on the ground by your table your whole meal, then 100% bring your dog! The views from the patio are great, and the food/drinks are good. Anything else then read on...I saw that this place was pet friendly and convinced my family to come here. We walked up for a table, and we were seated without any wait. No one told us that there were particular rules with dogs when we were seated. We have a medium Cavalier with some anxiety that our mom will calm by putting on her lap in any public areas, so he was on her lap from the moment we got seated. As we were ordering I asked for some plain food for our dog and we were told that they couldn't give it to us because we werent allowed to feed anything to our dog while at the resuturant but they were happy to package it up at the end of the meal for us to feed off property, we said no problem and kept drinking. Later on when the appetizers came out the manager came to say that our dog had to stay on the group and couldn't be near the table, she did apologize that none of this was said up front before we were seated but it would have been nice to know because we likely would have gone somewhere else knowing our mom and our dog. We just felt like we had some kind of spotlight on us just because we brought a dog and the staff were awkwardly apologetic the whole 20-30 mins we were there. So we decided to box everything up and eat literally right outside on some benches. It was way more comfortable for us.Bottom line: food is tasty but I might consider getting take out if you were planning to bring your dog unless your dog is well behaved and will calmly hang out on the ground near you because this is their definition of being pet friendly

We went back to this wonderful restaurant twice! The view, the food, the service, good value. Definitely our favorite restaurant in San Juan. Friendly service was a big plus! The view absolutely great! Loved everything we tried on the menu! Highly recommended

We've been here before- the food is good, the service is also good. But this place isn't cheap, and honestly they need to class up the dress code for staff. Shorts shouldn't be shorter than long, knee length (honestly, capris are more appropriate in nice dining). Last time we were here a younger waitress had on super short shorts. This year, an older waitress had on mid thigh shorts and I am sorry but it looked bad. Bare thighs just aren't something most people want at eye level from their servers regardless of age or body. The wait staff with longer capris and long pants looked much more professional, can we just stick with that? Anyhow, I like the food but dislike the staff dress. It cheapens the feel of the place, which is sad. Our waiter was Sander (or maybe Xander?) and he was an absolute delight, really smart and took great care of us.

I tried a large cross section of the menu here and the food is a mixed bag ranging from decent to downright unprofessional. That is not a good enough performance for a restaurant priced in a range similar to fine dining establishments in the city. Details below.1. The calamari. This was actually excellent and the only thing I had that I would want to eat again. The batter is crispy and flavorful and it's the only time I've had it served as chunks rather than rings. This gives it a nice meaty body and is in my opinion the superior way to eat calamari. I have a hard time understanding how the same kitchen that served this calamari produced fish and chips in the state that it was in because...2. The halibut and chips. This dish does not belong on the menu in its current state. The batter is soggy and flavorless, the portion size is tiny and leaves a lot of empty space on the plate, and at 38 dollars it's almost twice the price of the pub back home while being half the size and having none of the taste or texture. Serving this dish at this price point is insulting.3. Crab artichoke dip. Decent but very small for the price point.4. Mad hatcher chicken. An unprofessional dish charged at 29 dollars. It's way too salty with most of it concentrated in the rub on the skin. 5. Scallop gnocchi. Above average dish that feels like a haphazard assortment of decent ingredients served without coherence. The plating is on a wide and shallow dish with all of the components scattered about in a thin sauce. Even a switch to a bowl with layered presentation would make it easier to eat rather than having to play with my food to get a bite with every ingredient on the same spoon. Decent tasting dish with unprofessional presentation for 48 dollars.Service. The waiter tried to snatch the tab and my card from me while I was reading the receipt saying "you'll get it back" and then glared at me. What are you doing. This is a tourist trap that I would avoid, unless it's just to order the calamari.

Found ourselves in Friday Harbor on an offseason weekday -- limited open places in the colder months so we all gave this place a go.Food was decent. Huge portions -- you will not leave hungry.I think the rest of the group enjoyed their lunch a bit more than me...I went with the pastrami sandwich and house chips. The pastrami was a bit over brined for my taste...but that is a subjective opinion. I still ate over half so it was out terrible. And the chips were good. The rest of the table seemed to enjoy their orders as well.

One of the best restaurants in San Juan Island. Delicious seafood but I wish the portion was a little bigger. Pricey but reasonable since it is seafood and one of the main restaurants on a small island. The staff was very welcoming and tended to our needs. Great outside views as well!

Swung by Downriggers for an early weeknight dinner and it did not disappoint. Nestled in the harbor right by the ferry dock in Friday Harbor, the space feels new, classy and airy (apparently it is because the old one burned down a few years ago). We received kind service for our meal and grabbed a bunch of the dinner entrees. Portions were hearty and food was good. They have a menu that matches the space well - American classics done right.
