This place is amazing. David is an amazing human being. Hardworking, old fashioned, down the earth and one of the nicest guys you will meet. I've been to all the dessert shops in Pacific Beach and San Diego none can compare to the Donut Bar fresh and every bite taste like a bit of heaven. Great prices and a wide selection of amazing desserts and donuts. When someone loves what they do you can see it in their work. Pilsbury doughboy has nothing on David. I go to this place at least 2 times a week. Welcome to our Pacific Beach neighborhood and community David. I know your Keep making the best Donuts and desserts on this earth. Best Desserts in Pacific Beach and San Diego. Highly recommend 100/100

Just got introduced to this spot on my weekender trip to SD to see some girlfriends & I noticed the cute modern & partially open-air exterior immediately. We were actually going to Desserts by Clements next door for afternoon tea, but even after we were super full we couldn't help but stop by to try some of these cute desserts. The milk cream donut here is inspired by the viral Korean milk cream donut, but this was the real deal! Fresh donuts with milk scream from scratch totally beats the massed produced packaged version that comes in more of a Hawaiian bread consistency. The milk cream is smoother & creamier. I believe it's only available at this location. I also got a Oreo smores burger to go because the owner was present & insisted it would still be good, especially if I heat it up again. Boy was he right & those marshmallow pulls were epic. The cashier was efficient, but speaking with the owner of this location was really cool to learn about the fresh ingredients & quality he puts into this establishment.I hope they open up in LA, but I'd still drive down to get that milk cream donut again

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was that there are way more selection than the downtown location. They still have similar flavors but also flavors that aren't in the downtown location plus giant cookies. Everything looked decadent. I was also surprised to learn they have gluten free and dairy free options in their donuts and cookies. What caught my eye were the viral Korean donuts I've only seen in Orange County so far. They had a strawberry and a blueberry option. It was dairy free too! I bought the strawberry one and I can really taste the strawberry flavor in it! It wasn't too sweet just how I like it but still delicious. The oreo marshmallow cookie which was decadent. When I cut the cookie in half you can see the oreo they definitely don't skimp on their ingredients. I also tried the gluten free chocolate chip made with almond flour. It was chewy and wasn't too sweet which is good. The owner? was really nice and took the time to explain their ingredients etc. As another Yelper mentioned, they made sure I had a great experience offering recommendations based on my dietary needs and preferences. The prices are reasonable and the donuts are big. I highly recommend this place, there's something for everyone!

for Service, for Everything ElseDoughnut Bar in Pacific Beach is a solid spot if you're in the mood for a sweet treat. Here's my breakdown:Service (5 stars): The service here is top-notch. From the moment I walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. They went out of their way to make sure I had a great experience, even offering recommendations based on my preferences. It's clear they genuinely care about their customers.Doughnuts (3.5 stars): The doughnuts themselves are good, but not mind-blowing. They have a decent variety of flavors and some unique options that are worth trying. However, a few of the ones I tried were a bit on the dry side. That said, the toppings and fillings were tasty and creative.Atmosphere (3.5 stars): The shop has a cozy vibe with a clean and inviting interior. It's a nice place to sit and enjoy your doughnut, but nothing particularly special or unique about the decor.Value (3.5 stars): Prices are reasonable, but a bit on the higher side for doughnuts. Considering the quality, it's fair, but I wouldn't call it a bargain.Overall, if you're in Pacific Beach and craving a doughnut, Doughnut Bar is a good choice, especially for the excellent service. I would definitely return for the warm and welcoming atmosphere, hoping to catch a fresher batch next time!

The service was great and attentive. It has been awhile since I've visited here but the quality has definitely dropped off. The maple bacon bar is still good but it used to be great. The apple fritters were mushy and would rather of had the ones from Roses donuts that cost less and are better quality.

Wow. Just wow. To say I'm satisfied is beyond an understatement-- I have never felt so homey in a restaurant than I did at Donut Bar. It's sleek interior that is a mix of hot pink and white brick walls is pleasing look at. It gives off a retro vibe that still ties in together modern elegance. The customer service was INSANE. The owner-- David came out and instantly started conversation, talking to him felt like we had known him for a couple years and that we were some old town friends even though we had just met. He looked inside our donut box to look at what we had purchased and threw in 3 extra donuts that were his personal favorite for free! He even went ahead and noted down some places for us to visit in San Diego-- super cool guy! The donuts on the hand DO. NOT. PLAY. It was flakey, gooey, and yum yum yummy!! You HAVE to try the strawberries & cream and the matcha cream. The donuts are super fluffy and the inside creams that they make personally in house is honestly the best I've tried. THE COOKIES. THE. COOKIES. We got an additional smores cookie on the house and OHMYGODITWASAMAZING. The cookie had hints of oreo inside, and the MARSHMALLOW WAS SO FLUFFY AND STRETCHY AND AHHHHHHH. Amazing. We will probably be going back this morning to try even more stuff!! THANK YOU DAVID!!

Um, they look as pretty as the ones from downtown, but they taste like they were made 17 years ago. Stale doesn't begin to describe how nasty these were. So disappointing! I mean, when you finally succumb to a doughnut craving, it better be a damn good doughnut. Take your cravings elsewhere. Other than the pretty visual, (see photo) these doughnuts were more suitable to be used as boat anchors.

*This review is exclusively for the PB location. While this location shares the same name as the downtown location, they are under different ownership. The downtown location has been nothing but quality each and every time we've visited.*I feel bad saying this -- the staff was very polite and even added an extra donut for wait time -- but all of the donuts we received were hands down the worst donuts my GF and I have ever had. It was bad enough to the point that I'm writing this and complaining, which isn't something I wanted to do at all. The crème brûlée was burnt and runny, the maple icing was crunchy and gritty, and when bitten into it cracked and fell all over the box, the bavarian crème was eggy and sour, the blueberry compote filling was chunky with something that did not have the consistency of a blueberry, and the glazed twist was so dry it hurt my throat to swallow and had practically no glaze on it. It was a really unfortunate, honestly gross experience eating donuts, which is never the vibe when you're supposed to be enjoying something as wonderful as a donut. It was also $26 which is rather expensive for 6 donuts, esp when all but a few bites of each went in the trash.
