Donald's Famous Hot Dogs

Food's all right, big fan of the onion rings. Cream of chicken and rice is soo good!!!! Cute little place in the corner. Service can vary, theres one girl thats kinda monotone and another who's super sweet! Cool local place. Kinda pricey though

Good hot dog special, 2 hot dog w/ 1 fry for 7.99. This was a really good dog. It might look a little bare but all the flavors are there. The hot dog is a 9 inches and hang over the side of the bun. At first I had to check to see if it was a snap dog, it wasn't but the mouth feel was that of a snap dog. I know this is only me, but I hate when I get onions and you can't taste onions. I was able to taste the onions and all the different topping. Just enough. I wanted a third dog, but decided to not be greedy. The fries are dusted with seasoning, I think seasoned salt. No complaints from me.

I wanted an Italian beef via Door Dash. I didn't want Portillo's or one from the good hood places I usually order from. Donald's had some good reviews so I tried them twice. Good dineresque soups! I tried both the Cream of Broccoli and Cream of Chicken and Rice. Nice flavor on both. Both were creamy and hearty! I had an Italian Beef. My beef was dipped heavy like I asked. Full of meat and giardiniera. I noticed before I opened it the wax paper had a reddish hue from the Au Jus. I am guessing they add tomato paste or something to their Au Jus. I took a massive bite. It was very tasty! However, their beef doesn't have that Chicago mainstream Italian Beef flavor. It was still very good! Not mad at the size or flavor at all. Now the second time I ordered a beef their was a little undertone of marinara or tomato sauce but notAs strong as the first time. Nor was the Au jus a reddish hue. I did get some mozzarella sticks too which were just your standard frozen little buddies. Not bad at all just nothing special. I recommend Donald's! My food was delivered warm and promptly. I digs and recommend them.

This place appears to have been there since before Fort Dearborn was built. An old beat up building, with grease that can't be fully scrubbed out of the floor tiles, and old signs for some of the meals.In other words, the ultimate of an authentic hot dog stand.And the dogs (and fries) were good. Really really good.Perfect.

Great food and great service! I had yet to try a Chicago Dog so I was glad to have been recommended to Donald's. The most impressive features is the overwhelming amount of options. The menu stretches from one wall to the other. I tried a Chicago Dog and a pizza puff. And the dog was a nice size and was decked out with the toppings. The savory bite would release the meat juices and would mix well with the relish. I can see this venue, although not in the best location, as a solid group eating location. With plenty of seating both inside and on the patio outside. Donald's also manages a drive through so if I had a car I would be making the occasional trip during the winter months. I loom forward to coming back again.

The closest hot dog/beef stand to my new place, I had to give Donald's a try.The inside is small with just a few tables, though the menu is nicely printed overhead. They have a lot of items but I wanted to try the Italian beef and the hot dog, since Donald's claims these are their specialties.Order was made and received quickly, the staff at the counter were very nice. They also have a drive through which is convenient, too.The hot dog was just okay! They do seem to use a slightly longer hot dog than most places, so that was interesting, and it is still Vienna. The toppings were all correct but my bun was split apart at the seam which made for a kind of messy dog, but overall it wasn't bad.The Italian beef on the other hand was pretty good, perhaps slightly better than average. I wasn't asked if I wanted it juicy, dry or dunked, it came out somewhere between dunked and juicy; I'd probably prefer it a little less juicy next time though. What made this beef great was Donald's made-in-house sweet peppers, which are a ~$0.70 upcharge but were delicious. Beef portion size was pretty good as well, though price was over $7 for the beef with the peppers.Overall, a good option for beef stand food on the Lower West Side.

We are a vegan couple, so all we got is fries but they were unbelievable!!!! We left a full review in our Instagram story @ grrrr80

I have been pastornizing Donald's restaurant for over ten years. On 7/28/24, ordered two (2) combo beef and sausages. Normally the beef is sliced thin and placed on top of the sausage. The beef was chopped up like you would do for taco meat. Never had my combo ever looked like this or tasted liked it did. The Italian sausage was a very poor grade. I returned to Donald's restaurant and requested my money back. They offered credit only at one point, but I said no to that offer and received cash back. Donald's has lost me and my family as patrons.Q. Henderson

Food was terrible I had Italian beef the wouldn't take it back it was terrible it tasted spoiled and fries were also terrible not fresh

Went here for a cheeseburger, fries and can drink. Total was $16.50. WOW! It was not that special. Surprisingly, it was not busy. That will be the last visit.
