Carnitas chips ($13.99): hands-down the best I've had! Carnitas are seasoned w/ a crispy exterior, yet juicy & tender inside, 10/10
Carne asada chips $12.50: pletinful, but carne asada was bland. The salsa brava & roja improved it... 7/10. Salsas alone... 8.5/10
Surf and turf chips ($14.99): carne asada chips but includes shrimp & smoky chipotle sauce. Worth the extra dollar for more flavors, 8/10.
Adobada burrito ($9.99): decent size, gone are the days of the large burritos. The adobada was tasty and juicy, 9/10!
Carnitas chips ($13.99): hands-down the best I've had! Carnitas are seasoned w/ a crispy exterior, yet juicy and tender inside, 10/10!
a mexican restaurant lit up at night
Old burnt stale fries
Adobada burrito ($10.49): spicy, seasoned stewed pork, 9/10. This is delish, but their carnitas are even better.
Quesomush would've thought it came with it or at least some Lettuce sheesh these people are skimpy I would not recommend
Burrito gone!! Yummmmmmm

Adobada and Carne Asada tacos
Weekly Specials
Fish taco combo w/ drink ($11.49): pretty good, but the corn tortilla flavor is overpowering & dry. Beans & rice were tasty. 7.5/10 rating.
Late night shenanigans
Supreme rolled tacos ($7.49 + $2.50): good, but I prefer the rolled tacos w/ only cheese & guac. The veggies dilute the flavors, 7.5/10.

I knew it...It was too quick to be done correct...and I specifically asked if the fries were fresh...Been here a few times and both times I order Pollo Asada fries I got old stale fries...that is why I specifically asked for fresh fries...Look at my picture...are they fresh...don't think so...$20 wasted...Won't be going back!

Easy drive thru Mexican inspired food. We always order the full order of the carne asada chips. Huge portion to share between 2 people. The chips are crunchy, lots of meat, sour cream, pico, and guacamole. It could use a bit more cheese. The service is hit or miss, depending who's working. They also have a good selection of salsas to choose from.

Straight Fire. I'm on my weekly business trip to San Diego and found a real one. I got the Chili Verde Plate and man was it good! I was starving and I apologize for no pictures of the Food. I also got a Birria Taco with a side of Consume. The Taco was good but honestly I would order different things next time. But that Chili Verde was the Truth. Just enough of a Kick, not too Spicy and absolutely packed with flavor. Under $10 for the Plate that can easily feed two people w/o Big Backs. If you know you know. And yes, I have a Big Back and split it. Lol. I'm leaving San Diego on Saturday but I will be back before I Roll. Angelica was Professional and Knowledgeable about all things there. Great spot if you're in the area. I'll be back.

There are seven Mexican eateries that are closer to my residence; however, I go here when I crave Mexican food. Their dishes are appetizing, but their grated cotija cheese, salsa bravo, and salsa roja add depth of flavors.Carnitas chips ($13.99): get this, hands-down the best I've had! Carnitas are seasoned with a crispy exterior, but the interior is tender and juicy, 10/10! The chips add a crunch that elevates this dish compared to the soggy fries that you generally receive from any spot.Four (4) beef rolled tacos with cheese & guac $5.50: these are the best in sd bcuz they are crispy, yet the tortilla isn't thick, and they add plenty of beef. Plus, the grated cotija cheese elevates these tacos, 9/10. Supreme rolled tacos ($7.49 + $2.50): good, but I prefer the rolled tacos with only cheese & guac. The veggies dilute the flavors, 7.5/10.Carne asada chips ($12.99): 1st time was bland, but the last 2x this were delish, 8.5/10. Red salsas are tasty!Fish taco combo w/ drink ($11.49): pretty good, but the corn tortilla flavor is overpowering & dry. Beans & rice were tasty. 7.5/10 rating.Adobada burrito ($9.99): decent size, gone are the days of the large burritos. Spicy, seasoned stewed pork, 9/10.Grilled chicken chips ($12.99): flavorful with all of the ingredients, but the chicken was not tender, 7.5/10. Get canitas, carne asada, or adobada instead.I'm a regular here, and their service has always been quick and courteous.

I ordered the fish taco combo, chips and guacamole and flan. The staff was friendly and my order was put together quickly, the food was the perfect temperature but I was disappointed that the guacamole was similar to what they serve on Taco Bell or other low quality restaurants. The tacos were pretty good as well as the flan but I feel that Mexican restaurants should at least serve authentic guacamole.

I was in the area and decided to try this place for its convenience factor of being located right off the freeway. Although I was hesitant based on rating and reviews, I still gave it a shot. I'm happy I did. Like many of the reviews have said, I think some people may need to temper expectations and realize this is a taco shop and not Javier's (but don't get me started on that "Mexican food.") The interior was as you'd expect from any good taco shop south Don Rios. Although maybe a little regular cleaning couldn't hurt, see the salsa bar photo. The second thing I decided to do was dine in, as many complaints have come from drive thru patrons. I ordered the Surf & Cali burrito and it was hot to the touch. Sure the burrito could have used a little more salt but the salsa bar fixed that issue. The burrito seemed like a copycat of the Surfin Cali burrito from Cotijas. The shredded cheese inside was like halfway melted and that could be improved. I note that the fries could have been fresher. They tasted as if they were double fried. However, the shrimp were plenty and juicy. This particular burrito comes with a drink included. The salsa bar had five types of salsa and hot carrots were complimentary. I would definitely give this a shot next time I'm in the area.

I had the machaca burrito taste good but small and skinny so much tortilla wrappings.i tasted the shrimp burrito so much rice and very creamy but less shrimp. Cheese quesadilla is good . It seems like the prices are lower here than compared to the ones at Vons. The sauces are so good. I will try to come back again next time to try other food they offer :)

I don't know why this place has low reviews. We are vegetarian so maybe it's a meat thing? I live overseas so every time we visit friends in SD this spot is a must! We get the veggie burrito with beans, cheese, potato, and guacamole. The horchata is good, the Pico De Gallo is yummy, as are the verde and ranchera sauces. The people are nice too!

Ignore the snobby white people and their complaints about the crispness of their fries. This is coming from a snobby white person so relax. The service is great always and the food is amazing.
