Okay first and foremost, Gwen is an absolute saint and I love her and she's the best server I've ever interacted with in my life. Second, the shrimp fajitas are FIIIIIIIRE! I had to ask for the seasoning they use so I can recreate because I've never experienced something so savory and delightful. Fish tacos and hibiscus margs are divine too. 5 stars across the board. GO HERE!

We ate here for lunch and had the Signature Pez-Cado, Quesabirria Tacos, Baja Shrimp Tacos, and Taquitos. The food was sooo good! I also had two cocktails, the hibiscus margarita and a traditional margarita. They were just meh. Our server was nice and the food came out quickly. I live in Detroit but will definitely be back to Don Pez soon!

After returning from a recent trip to Ensenada, I've been on a hunt for some delicious fish tacos. Up until then, I really wasn't a fish taco guy. But ever since, holy cow and I can't stop thinking about them. I looked at Don Pez's menu and notice they offered a "Baja Style" fish taco. I knew I had to come as quick as I could to check out these said fish tacos. The place has about 5 tables inside and it was small and cozy. They and also has a nice patio outside with about 4 tables. When I arrived two tables were being occupied and a couple customers came in after me. So not a busy day at all. The gentlemen that took my order greeted me right away and was very welcoming. He explained the specials of the day and even said I could mismatch if liked and also offered me a cold glass of water. He even asked how the tacos were during my meal. I ended up ordering their Signature Pez-cado. A Baja-style beer battered catfish taco with sweet cabbage, pickled habanero and a special sauce. I will admit, I had my doubts on the catfish. Felt it would taste too fishy, but I'm glad I was wrong. These tacos were the truth. They're not identical to what I had Ensenada, but pretty damn close. The fish was perfectly fried. It was crispy on the outside and the fish tasted fresh and delicious. The fish wasn't greasy and the toppings really helped bring everything together. I liked the pickled habanero, because it gave the tacos some heat and the sweet cabbage helped control the heat. Now if I only I could figure out what's in the special sauce. I'm glad I finally made it down Don Pez. They really have some amazing fish tacos here. I for sure will be coming here on Friday's during Lent, but Lent is so far away from now. I will be returning a lot sooner.

I'm always a bit leery about restaurants that have become famous due to winning an online award or that is proclaimed to be "best of" something. I feel these awards aren't based on anything and just a lot of hype. However, that is not case for Don Pez Fish Tacos in Lincoln Park. Tasting Table has declared that they have of the 20 best tacos in the US. More specifically, I believe it's their shrimp taco. This is one of those times, I have to believe that the so called experts were correct; the tacos here are amazing. I went here recently on a Thursday night. I tried a wide variety of tacos. I tied the mahi taco, the quesabirria tacos, the veggie taco, their award winning shrimp tacos and the pezcado tacos. Both the shrimp tacos and pezcado tacos came out hot, cristy and delicious. I also liked the quesabirria tacos. They have a ton of cheese on them. If like your quesabirria taco cheesy this is the place for you. However, one word of caution. They weren't super crispy. If like your quesabirria taco with a lot of crunch, you might want to pass on them. I also tried the chicken flautas. Again, they came out super crispy and delicious. For dessert I ordered churros. They were sweet, and yes, absolutely a pattern is forming, crispy, hot and yummy. I also tried some of their unique drinks. Most surprising, they feature a huckleberry shake. For those that don't know, huckleberries are common to the northwest and big sky region of the US. Apparently, one of the owner's relatives is from Montana supplies them to the restaurant. While this kind of drink was totally unexpected at a Mexican restaurant, it was delicious and is a must order. I also ordered the aqua fresca, which was very refreshing.I also loved the restaurant itself. It was small, it has the ambience of neighborhood taqueria (which it literally is). The walls are covered in festive and colorful murals. In sum, Don Pez Fish Tacos is a must visit taqueria that lives up to the hype.

$16-17 for two tacos is certifiably insane, even in Lincoln Park, but I must admit that the two fish tacos I tried were amazing, and almost big enough that I didn't need a snack afterward. Also, the tamarind agua fresca was pleasantly tart and punchy. Both the signature pez-cado and the salmon were spicy, but in different ways (the pickled habaneros masqueraded as onions, and the chipotle crema as innocent aioli, looks wise), and the breaded fried catfish on the former retained its crisp all the way through the meal.

Yes! Try all their tacos! Baja or seared you can't go wrong-flavorful and interesting combination of colors and tastes ! Walked in there for lunch today with my husband for the first time and we were indulgently surprised by the quality of food we received. The front is a bit hidden and unassuming so we had passed it by in the past when we were in the area and we were so glad that we decided to try it for once. We had pretty much all their seafood tacos one after another and let's just say our tastes buds kept reaching new levels of delicious heaven. I don't say this very often for tacos or texmex cuisine in general but this is definitely some of the best tacos I have had! Our server was wonderful with all her food suggestions as well so definitely ask for recommendations and try the hibiscus lemonade! Good food, good service, MUST TRY!
