Called in to place an order for pickup around 7:45pm, and didn't realize they closed at 8pm. The woman on the phone said they could still take my order even being 15 minutes before closing. This was our first time ordering from Domo Kitchen, and we really enjoyed our takeout. The portions were large and flavorful. We will definitely be ordering here again!Chef lo mein House fried riceKung pao comboOrange chickenHawaiian roll

Meet a friend here for lunch since it was in between our two houses. The friendly owner and her daughter run this place. We ordered the shrimp lo mein dinner portion since it was only $2-3 more than the smaller lunch one. It was quite good! My friend also ordered the sashimi dish.

Service was wonderful, but sushi ingredients were older and dry.Ordered one roll: rice was drier, salmon was flavorless, crab was flavorless.Abundant strip mall parking for free.

Domo Kitchen is a longtime Asian eatery located in the Ruffin Village of Kearny Mesa. I was running errands nearby and wanted to give them a try after driving past the business many times over the years. The dining room was empty when I arrived which wasn't a good sign. There were about twelve tables for seating, however at least four of them were filled with all kinds of clutter. They were being used as de facto storage space. That along with the marquee sign above the suite being only half illuminated gave a bad initial impression.A two-sided menu sheet listed the Chinese cuisine while a paper order slip showed the sushi offerings. There were no accompanying menu photos, only a brief description of each item on the back of the slip. The Cut Rolls were discounted by 40% while the Special Rolls were 20% off. I wish places would just list the regular price without inflating them and offering a discount to give the illusion that it's a good deal.I picked two Special Rolls (Hawaiian, Spanish) as part of my meal. The Hawaiian was made up of imitation crab, avocado, cucumber, spicy tuna, green onion, sesame seeds, and ponzu sauce. I am not sure why it was named 'Hawaiian' as there was no component that reflected Hawaii. The roll was strangely cut into 11 segments instead of an even eight or ten. That made for the thinnest pieces I have ever experienced. The Spanish consisted of imitation crab, salmon, cucumber, cilantro, green onion, lemon, and ponzu sauce. This roll was cut into ten pieces. Both rolls were pretty ordinary.I also selected two hand rolls... Eel and Spicy Scallop. The eel was the best item of the evening. The scallops were drenched with hot sauce which wasn't how I envisioned this roll to be made. The protein usually has the spicy component blended into the mix. The service was acceptable, but what led to the downgraded rating was the aspects I described in the first paragraph. It made me feel like the owners didn't care much about the appearance of Domo Kitchen.

Domo has the best lunch specials with plenty of food to share. My co workers and I like to go and order a few specials and share. The workers there are the sweetest nicest people, always warm and welcoming. The inside doesn't have a ton of seating but it's worth the visit. Their sushi is very fresh as well.

I tried this and this and was amazing flavors. They even have lunch special and a lot of food. You can even share. Try their broccoli and beef and their salty peppers wings are to die for!

The menu at Kearny Mesa is different from the Santee location. Kearny has sushi and Chinese. Kind of a weird combo but it works. Their lunch specials (Chinese) are a great value and very good. The service is excellent. I wish they had fresh brewed iced tea, but otherwise, everything is fantastic.

TL;DR(+) cream cheese wontons are good!(-) Spanish roll is okI had the Spanish roll and cream cheese wontons! The salmon on the Spanish roll was really fresh and delicious! But it didn't really taste cohesive with the crab and ponzu sauce. And each time I picked up the sushi with my chopsticks, the whole roll would fall apart. The cream cheese wontons were amazing! The ratio of the wrapper to cream cheese was perfect! Definitely more balanced with lots of wrapper and less cream cheese. The plum sauce was really sweet and complimented it well. I had them to go and it was still crispy almost over an hour later, highly recommend!

This place seems underrated! We came in and it was completely empty. We were greeted by the nice waitress and she was very patient as we took our time to go over their extensive menu. While we were looking over the menu a man did come in and placed a to-go order and he sounded like a regular. They have specials on their menu items but like everyone said, with the prices of their items and the discount, it comes out to the same price as any other sushi spots. We ordered a total of 13 items which included rolls, nigiris, sashimi, hot entrees, and appetizers. Honestly all were really good. I love how they have the mix of sushi and Chinese food. My husband thought there was too much rice on the rolls but I thought they were fine. I would love to come back to try more rolls, hot dishes, and especially their lunch menu!

Good service, good food. We initially had plans to go to Fortunate Son Chinese in North Park but after we arrived and were told it was a 2 hour wait at 5:15p.m., we found Domo kitchen with a respectable 4.6 stars and over 300 reviews on Yelp. They did not disappoint. After driving the ten minutes to Domo Kitchen from Fortunate Son Chinese, we walked right in and were immediately seated. The staff was polite and attentive. Though we went for Chinese food, we were happy to see offerings of sushi, as well. I was a little skeptical about mixing two different styles of food at one restaurant, but the Alaskan roll and the salmon sashimi were both outstanding. Super fresh salmon, delicious! We also had the moo goo gai pan, broccoli beef, orange chicken, chicken fried rice, white rice, spicy edamame , miso soup, bbq pork appetizer, and vegetable lo mein. They also carry coke products that came in 16oz bottles which was a plus. The fried rice and moo goo gai pan could have used a little salt and pepper, but we added that at the table so no big deal. The ambiance is more like an old school Chinese restaurant, rather than a plush place like North Park's Fortunate Son Chinese restaurant, but because the food and service were on point we weren't too critical about it. If they were to fancy the place up a bit they would be unstoppable. I would also probably change the glasses to glass instead of pizza restaurant hard restaurant style and better quality one-time use chopsticks, but again, the good food and the good service allowed for allowances for these simple faults.I definitely recommend this restaurant and will go again.
