My lovely wife and I attended a fine dim sum brunch with family at Dolo Restaurant on Archer, located sort of on the edge of the busier areas of Chinatown. Dolo has its own small parking lot for customers, and a few choice parking spots along Archer too. My cousin made a Saturday reservation for our party of 9, and so we were rewarded with one of the primo private dining spaces in the back. We ordered such a variety of dishes, with something to satisfy everyone's palates. My love absolutely adored the shrimp dumplings, while the BBQ pork chow mein hit the right notes for me as my older relatives distinctly remembered that I loved chow mein ever since I was a wee lad. Instead of elbowing others for precious real estate in the main dining area (quite busy as you would expect on a Saturday), our family brunch at Dolo was all good times thanks to yummy food, colorful stories, and warm hugs.

A local friend recommended Dolo. We got here at 11:45 on a Friday morning and the place was packed. We had two groups in front of us to be seated. The wait was about 10 minutes. I was one of only 5 caucasians. This place is the real deal.We tried many items and wish we could have tried more. The steamed pork dumplings were the largest we've ever seen. They were ok. We like the ones in San Francisco better. We loved the Shanghai soup dumplings. They were the best we've ever had. The pork, shrimp and clam dumplings were unique and very tasty. The pork and vegetable buns were ok. We wouldn't get them again. We absolutely loved the shrimp crepe. I'd never heard of the Chiu chow style dumpling so we tried that. It wasn't to our liking. We took some liquid custard pineapple buns to go. I would say this is some of the best Chinese food I've ever had and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. San Francisco has the oldest and second largest Chinese community in the United States. So saying that Dolo is some of the best is saying a lot. I would try to go to the bathroom before you get there. The women's bathroom was disgusting.

My bf and I went to DOLO since I've had a friend recommend it numerous times, but I've had it in the past and it was okay. ** FREE PARKING ** they have a parking lot that's with the restaurant. So good to have! Ambiance was dark and decent, a lot of people but hot inside. I think it was fine for the most part. Service was fast and really good compared to other restaurants. Theh brought out food fast & everything was served accordingly. We got the bill even tho we didn't finish eating yet. Tea is free & no extra charge which is great. Go on weekdays between 2-4, and recieved a 20% discount, super good with that price. Could be pricy if you order a lot of items. - Custard rolls : 8.3/10, a little dry, but still a fluffy custard roll cake with a hint of milk taste. - Shrimp dumplings : 7.9/10, pretty standard shrimp dumplings/hai gow, ( I would dip it in sauce for flavor ) - Plain crepe, 8/10, not too big of a fan of the soy sauce and it was only a little bit of suace before we had to ask for more. Good texture on the noodle itself tho. - pineapple buns: I cannot rate it bc I didn't eat it. - egg tarts : 10/10, I would say this place has the best eggs tarts out of all dim sum places that I've tried, super fresh with a crispy / flaky exterior shell. The egg tart was super smooth and so so comforting. Highly recommend it. We also got chicken feet, Siu mai, and curry octopus ( all dim sum ) dishes. 8/10 for all 3 and wish the octopus / squid was spicy. It would've been so delicious. Overall, I'm a fan of DOLO again. Dim sum usually is expensive, so so be prepared for it to come out a little pricy, but you're getting good portion sizes for it. I'd go back again to eat these dim sum items! Go if you're interested in free parking and good dim sum.

This is my first time to visit this restaurant. My first impression of this restaurant was very typical Chinese restaurant and very similar to Minghing, Triple Crown or Phoenix restaurant. However, the food was very fresh compared with the other restaurants and friendly staff. Table very clean and no sticky spots. It's not easy to find an open spot in their parking lot, but it's worth to walked from public parking lots. We will definitely to revisit this restaurant next time when we are in the area.

This is another great dim sum restaurant me and my family love coming. Their dim sum always come out hot and fresh, I absolutely love their beef meat balls, it's made like no others!! Service is good and quick, and the restaurant is decent size and intimate. They even have a tiny parking lot for people who don't want to go through the hassle of looking or paying for parking.

No non-sense, authentic Chinese restaurant. Lives up to the taste, super affordable. The soup dumplings were tasty but didnt have much soup in it. The sprouts egg crepes were great. The sweet potato custard balls were so interesting. Service was fast. The complimentary and bottomless green tea was cherry on the cake and went very well with all the food.

A little walk off the Chinatown CTA stop, Dolo is quite easy to miss considering that you have to walk past the main Chinatown areas to get there. I feel like this restaurant represents a good mix of traditional Chinese with a modern contemporary flair (they have a big open bar right at the entrance). The dim sum was pretty good, but I don't think it's good enough to trek far away from the main Chinatown spots to try (if you're coming from public transport). They also have a more limited menu for dim sum than other places I've been to and the portion sizes, especially of their bao is a lot smaller than most other places. Overall pretty tasty but I think this would be more suitable if you had a pretty small party for dim sum--otherwise I would try some other spots.

Stopped to have lunch here at the recommendation of our local friend. Absolutely delicious and worth it. They have an excellent dim sum selection as well as plenty of main dishes. The hot custard filled buns -!: pork scallion buns were my favorite and by far were packed with lots of flavor. The service was a little mysterious as it was our first time here, we weren't really sure if we should pay at the counter or if the server would come, we ended up approaching the counter after some time. There is a small parking lot available for dinners which is rare for the city. The interior is a nice sized dining room and you can see the fresh fish tanks with plenty of delicious fish and crustaceans waiting to be eaten! It's clear it's a local favorite S there are some signs of wear and tear, but we could see why! Super delicious indeed!
