Dolce Aroma Italian Bakery

I wanted to like this place since there isn't many Italian bakery around. I went there on Saturday afternoon and there weren't too many items left. I bought 3 items. Mini caprese - It was dry. Disappointing.Chocolate mousse - It tasted and texure was like chocholate pudding. I couldn't eat more than a bite.Chocolate dipped cheesecake - This was best of 3, but not very good either. Disapponting. I don't mind paying high price for good cakes/pastries but theirs don't justify the price.

My husband has been on the search for this ever elusive rum soaked sponge cake he fell in love with while stationed in Naples. Every Italian restaurant and bakery, he would ask "do you guys have baba?" He would be disappointed 99% of the time when they didn't have it. We have only found one other Neapolitan restaurant that happen to have on the dessert menu that night. I was searching for something else when I saw I. The same plaza Dolce Aroma. When I saw it was on the menu, I knew it was worth the drive down. Seeing my husband beam in delight because his search was over was worth it! This place is nestled in the corner of the plaza. The two men were so inviting and seemed interested in my husband's fascination with baba. The owner even offered to add more cream to our cake, but my husband, the purist, respectfully declined.Safe to say, we'll be back soon!

I discovered this place just a couple days ago when I heard they would have zeppole for San Giuseppe, which are hard to find in North County. It is nestled in a corner of a pretty big shopping center in Carlsbad, I was running a bit behind to pick up my order and pleasantly surprised to hear an Italian accent from the woman on the phone so, I switched to Italian- a big bonus for me because I don't often get to use my Italian when I am out and about here in the US. She was so kind, even though I was behind schedule today for my order, and just wanted to remind me in case I forgot my order.Once I got there, the bakery had so many things; sfogliatella, cakes, what looked like maybe an Easter grain pie; I wish I took a closer look but I needed to get home with the zeppole. I also ordered myself a sandwich which I ate in the car and it was delicious. Oh man, was it delicious! I honestly haven't had anything THIS fresh since Italy last summer.I will be back, because I want to eat everything and I can actually order here in Italian.

I saw this place on Instagram. I happened to be staying at the Park Hyatt Aviara so I thought I would try it. I came in on Sunday about one hour before closing. There was one person ahead of me. This is a true, Italian family run bakery. The owner is very nice. It's just not very busy which I hope for them will change. The cannoli was very good. The filling inside has a burst of citrus flavor which I think is orange? Very good. The Croissant was flaky. I think if they had more business that the baked goods would be fresher.

The place smells good when you walk in. It's got a little bit of everything in a good way. Gelato, pastry, coffee, and smiles. They give you that sass like your family which is sure to make you want to stay a chat a while. Great service. Gluten-free options. Yum!

I love that there is an Italian bakery here! Fun to have Italian spoken to you. Wide variety of pastries. The ham and cheese pastry (cornietti?) was pretty sweet. Americano was ok, but surprisingly not hot. I like they have indoor and outdoor seating. This place is quite pricey though. Good for specialty stuff, but I wouldn't come here for a regular morning coffee.

I think I just died and gone to desert heaven ! Crispy , delicate , not overly sweet! I drove 25 minutes out of my way to get here and yes I'll drive an hour to feast on these delectables!!! These guys rock!!!

Finally a genuine italian bakery. Their pastries are clearly made from natural ingredients. We enjoyed their pear tarte, sfogliatella and cornetto. We'll definitely be back to enjoy more pastries and their sandwiches. In a world full of pastries made with too much sugar and plenty of artificial ingredients this bakery is a ray of sunshine. We wish them to succeed.
