Dockside Donuts

Mannnn what can I say about these BOMB DONUTS!! The coconut bar with whip cream is on point!!! Ahh I want another one right now lol. The lady in the window is always nice and friendly. We go once a week for an assorted dozen. Great place!

Growing up, some of the people on my swim team talked about Dockside Donuts and its coconut angel bars during swim team practice. They could not decide to whether to go or not because they had heard it was in a neighborhood like something out of the movie "8 Mile". It was not like that when I visited yesterday, Wednesday 24 November 2022. Yes, it is in an industrial part of Tacoma near the water, with trains and cop cars running past, fence topped with barbed wire lining the parking lot, and the occasional homeless person walking past, but... that does not make Tacoma like Detroit.I pulled up around 2 p.m. and went through the drive-thru, it looked like the main eating area was closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the lady at the window was friendly and helpful in placing and filling my order. I ordered one maple and one chocolate angel bar. I am not a big fan of coconut, so when I learned they only had two types of angel bars left, I was like, perfect! One of each!An angel bar donut is a bar donut with something like whipped cream filling a donut sliced lengthwise. I do not eat whipped cream very often, but I remember it being thicker, so the filling might not be whipped cream exactly. It was light, fluffy, creamy, and not too heavy or rich. The donuts were airy and not too greasy. And the frosting was a light coating, making it possible to taste all of the components of the donut at once. Absolutely amazing, ate both donuts in one go and they tasted just as good when I finished eating them as when I started.

The donuts are ok, but the muffins are horrible. I ordered one today that was made in 1982. It is so stale and chewy (and not in a good way chewy). Listen, I get it is a mom and pop business, and they don't want to waste food. But at a certain point, you have to respect your customers' teeth and know when to say when.

I've been coming here periodically for 8-years! The best donuts in the area... Fluffy, fresh, tasty, sweet-but not excessively sugary! Delicious donut shop and one of my favorite weekend breakfast stops when I travel.

Great Variety of doughnuts. The doughnuts are very soft, light and airy. Not greasy at all like I've had at other places. My favorite to get is the Chocolate bar or twist or Cake doughnuts. worth trying. They're fairly priced.

Great fresh donuts.Great deal for a dozen order :) I ordered Americano too.That was very weak :(So, I won't recommend coffee but for picking up fresh donuts, definitely recommend this place!!!!

Great classic donut shop. Have been looking for a shop that wasn't Legendary and opened earlier than Top Pot in the Federal Way area. While not immediately in FW it was only a 15 min drive and well worth it. Classic donuts ready at 5am. All the donuts were good and just as I envisioned. Large parking lot and a decent size interior if you want to eat there. They also have a drive thru.

I got the donut twists (glazed, cinnamon sugar) and they were delicious!! Customer service was good too! The only concern is that upon arriving at the drive thru window, I got a strong whiff of something fishy...idk, the coffee was okay. I couldn't help but think that the smell might've gotten into my coffee lol Also be careful when you are walking around the area bc unfortunately there are a lot homeless people that will come up to you

Unprofessional woman working drive through who was incredibly rude. Yelling at your customer because of your mistake is unreal.
