This was a place where food tasted like my home back near the Gulf of Mexico. I had the fried catfish, greens and fried okra. Fantastic and well seasoned. I can tell this place seems to cater more towards takeout, there were Lots of orders, and even though we were eating in the dining room, our food was delivered in to-go containers. The dining area was pretty small and felt like maybe it doubled as a lounge because of the DJ booth. Fair warning. If you order food at peak dinner time, you might find yourself waiting a bit. It was probably 35-40 minutes between ordering and eating.

I really enjoyed every piece of my meal. This is was my second time there and it was even better cause I got my yams lol. The lady that took our order was very sweet and had a lot of patience even with it being so busy. I'll be dining in next time both time we had our food to go both times. I want to try their different selections of hot sauce and drinks. I'll definitely will be coming g back.

I ordered the catfish and wings combo with Mac and cheese and collard greens. The fish was cooked well. That is it. The wings were so salty, I had to spit it out. The Mac and cheese was gritty, greasy and full of minced garlic and the collards were just nasty and the potlicker tasted and smelled like bad sink water. The meal was inedible.

Food is good but don't be in a hurry, the Po boys were great and so were the sides. They are pretty disorganized and like some good southern places they run out of things so get there early. It's not fancy and if you order ahead for take out it's your best option.

Went there on a Saturday afternoon,got a table for three.The place is small,maybe eight tables.Counted three workers,one of whom was the cook.Service was polite and friendly...but slow.Should not need more than ten minutes to order.I'm going to guess the kitchen was busier with it's takeaway orders rather than in house as it took about forty minutes plus to tuck into some tasty food.My wife was very complimentary on the collard greens.I had snapper,red beans and sweet potato fries(a lot of them).Not a big fan of corn meal breading but it wasn't over the top.Fish was firm and tasty...the portion was on the small size,7 oz.Beans very good.Might suggest blackened fish as an option rather than breaded.Will certainly return to try the pork chops,catfish and chicken.Oh,there was a high school wrestling meet going on at the Tacoma Dome,so parking was a challenge!

Well it got that and more. Initially, I thought $20 for what?!!! Well good thing to keep mouth shut because what was awaiting was pure yummy. Seasoned fries come with this. Walking in, you're greeted by old age hip hop tunes comfy chairs and DELICIOUS smells of some good grub. I love no nonsense, good home cooking places like this.I have always driven by this establishment, stopped by and I'm so glad I did. I was greeted by warm smiles and assurance that the food is delicious. We just need a bit of soul food to warm our hearts. Service: Is top notch, I let Marie help me choose my dinner as I had no clue where to start. She was very warm and inviting. Everything looked so damn good on the menu lol. I opted for the catfish which comes with TWO sides. I decided on mac n cheese and red beans and rice for my sides which also comes with cornbread. You can't beat the price of $24 for that meal. Ambiance: I'm currently sitting on a comfy chair waiting for my meal to be cooked. Compliments to the chef (Vicky) by the way! I love the contrast of the red chairs against the barn like vibes. Food. Honest to god, this is the best catfish I we had. I can't taste the oil whatsoever, and that crunch of the batter is perfection. But I can still taste the fish which is nice and flaky. That mac n cheese is THICC with all the best flavor in the world. The red beans and rice is so delicious, not overly mushy. That cornbread is perfection.

I stumbled across this place while I was staying in downtown Tacoma for work. Since then I have been back again, and again, and again. I'm actually about to place an order and get some more catfish, greens, red beans and rice, with a side of catfish fillets. I love finding a place that has amazing food because I love to eat. The prices are great and the people are more than helpful. Definitely give them a try if you're in the neighborhood.
