I really like this place. Even though they're working out the kinks (as a new operation) I believe they'll age like fine wine.I came on Mother's Day during brunch. The space is very classy; there's two floors, a stage for a band (which we got to see; they played jazz music) but it's not a ginormous eatery... They can probably fit ~30 upstairs and about 100 downstairs. When we arrived at 145 it was packed, so it pays to have a reservation (but the bar was totally empty, so if a quick drink is your game, you should be fine.) And random FYI - the valet accepts cash and credit card (which is a nice touch as not every place accepts card.)Brunch menu was decent size, but 5 or 6 items were from the dinner menu. Everyone in my group had the steak and eggs (except me...I went with the steak frites which is a bigger piece of wagyu.) The steak was excellent; I liked my fries, but the hash--esque thing that came with the steak and eggs dish missed the mark...a tad too crunchy. Drinks were excellent as well. I ordered their version of a smokey old fashioned; it was solid but cost prohibitive. My brother had their version of a whiskey sour with egg which I really liked. As for dessert - everyone thoroughly loved that. I had a coconut cake dish and another person in my party had the chocolate cake. My mom went with their vanilla ice cream. So again they nailed the food with one exception (and that was the side on the steak and eggs dish.)The one drag was the wait for the food... It took just over an hour to feed a group of 7. The waiter came and apologized and stated it was their first Mother's Day brunch and they still had work to do. And that little chat is why I gave them 5 stars instead of 4. Sh*t happens, but it's how you respond that matters. The fact they acknowledged my dismay, and gave me something off the bill, made me feel better. I'll definitely return in the future to try dinner.

I am an avid fan of fine dining , and as such , I have an abiding appreciation for quality food and great service.Recently, a friend and I decided to have a spontaneous dinner Divan. What a BIG mistake! First off, the service was deplorable. The waitress was rude and greeted us with in a less than courteous manner. We informed her that we would like to start with appetizers while continuing to scan the menu before deciding on entrees. She kept rushing us to order and told us we had to order everything at one time . It was as it it was more important for her to flip the table for the next guests, rather than provide quality service to the guests that were already seated. I felt i was at a late night drive- thru eatery. In addition, the poorly trained server reached over our sholders with our hot dishes when he should have served us from opposite sides of the place settings. As for the food: The oysters were not fresh, and tasted like they had been thawed out after being froken in a murky pond. The steak was poorly seasonedand was as chewy as a rubber band. The potatoes tasted like they had come straight out of a box and the mac -and -cheese was more like a soupy pasta . I had asked for my sautéed mushrooms to be chopped . They weren't! When I pointed this out , the rude waitress - I guess - decided to chop them herself and bring them back to the table as if I wouldn't notice that they had not been properly prepared from the start .I no longer wanted them and adked her to remove them from the table . She literally tried to force them on me and insist that I eat them anyway .The Beets were sliced so thin , I guess the kitchen thought it was cheese . You could bearly pick it up on your fork - I couldn't eat that slimy texture vegetable !After experiencing this unpleasant tableside manner, I was totally turned off and was no longer in the mood to finish my cocktail. I requested to speak with the manager, JAMES BROWN, who seemed more inclined to chatting with his personal guests who were seated at the bar . I couldn't believe that he would pass up a table of unhappy guests ( by the way he was informed we wanted to soeak to him ) to first go laugh and chat with his friends . When he finally made his way to our table , I pointed out the poor customer service and his obvious lack of concern for our unpleasant experience. He wasn't very polite and put more effort into trying to cover up the failures rather than making them right . He displayed a condescending attitude in regards to the whole ordeal . The number one thing he should have done was reposition the waitress . Instead he allowed her to stand witjin reach of our table and roll her eyes at us .In the end , he " JAMES BROWN" took it upon himself to comp the bill . When the bartender gave us the receipt, we noticed thete was only a cent "1 penny" charge ( clearly an attempt at derision) . We refused his unwanted gesture, we paid the ENTIRE bill ( including a 25% tip) and graciously walked out the door.Given my experience, unless some serious adjustment are made , DIVAN will only be around for a short time , as it falls flat on both service and quality of food . Although the decor is nice, not much else is . Here in the Greater Chicago area there is no shortage of REAL dining establishments. I would suspect you check out some of the others . DIVAN gets a D- in me and my guest book . BTW- this was our 3rd time coming to this establishment . Each time service/ food / quality gotten WORST!

I can't believe I waited this long to put in a review, but better later than never! We came here about a month ago, soon after their opening and the experience was top-notch. Our server was great and spent a lot of time with us to make sure we had a good experience. The welcome drink was a nice touch and the warm bread they brought to us after ordering was delicious. The live music and overall ambiance was great. We sat upstairs and it felt like we had our own private space. I noticed the tables in the main room were spread out so everyone had plenty of room to enjoy their dinner.OK... the food was delicious. No only was my ribeye cooked to perfection, it also had great flavor. The bearnaise sauce was also a really nice touch (along with the garlic head, which I used to add a bit more flavor). For sides, we got the potato pave and Brussel sprouts - everyone enjoyed these. We also tried the chocolate cake and it was very good. The waiter said it was made on-site (along with everything else).Looking forward to coming back and seeing what they do with it!

The atmosphere was amazing. During our dinner we got switched from tiny lights to candlelight, I think the master it got the more laid back and chilled the restaurant becomes. The band played smooth music for your musical pleasure. You can valet for $20 instead of peopling for a pay to park. Everyone was so nice and inviting from the hostess stand when you walked in, to our personal waiter to the busser. The food is a little pricey but my meal was delicious. Our group tried a little bit of everyone's plate and everything was mouth watering! The bathrooms were clean and kept. The only issue I had was on top of gratuity and taxes, the charge an admin fee and I don't know what that is or why we were charged that!

This was such a lovely dinner for a night with the girls. I also recommend coming here for a very nice date night. It is gorgeous inside and they have live music as well. On top of that, the food was amazing. Everything we ordered, we all loved and the chef recommended a bunch of items for us to try. I don't think I could name just one dish to try as all the appetizers and entrees were delicious. What shocked me was how yummy the sides were as well. The brussel sprouts, Mac and cheese, and whipped potatoes were amazing! From the chef's crudo which was salmon for the night, to the scallops and half crab, to the sides, there was nothing to complain. Our server was great as well, always checking in to see if we needed more drinks. This is a great place to come for a nice dinner.

This place is excellent! The vibe inside is high class, cozy, and fun. There was live music playing both times I was there. From the moment you walk into the door, you're greeted with a warm welcome and smile. The servers are extremely attentive. They even remembered my drink order! I like when servers review the menu items, and that's exactly what they did. When you sit down at the table, you are given a complementary lemon cello. The food was cooked the perfection and came out in a very timely manner. The lobster Mac n cheese was phenomenal! The espresso martini had glitter on the coffee beans, which was a unique touch. The dessert was excellent as well.

Chicago's best new steak house and supper club! The lively restaurant has a beautiful large skylight making it look even larger and more spacious, not to mention giving it beautiful natural lighting. The staff is exceptional. Trish was our waitress and she was not only extremely knowledgeable of the entire menu and gave great recommendations but she was also fun to chat with. The food is delicious!! Don't miss the maracuyá cocktail, beet carpaccio, house pasta (add crab!), lamb chops, and side of potato pave. If you're into caviar, they'll put it on everythinggg if you ask! Live music begins at 6:30 and the tunes/band are just what you need to get the night going. The wine manager, Taylor, is also incredibly helpful and friendly. Welcome to Chicago, Divan! So happy you're here.

The restaurant and bar area is very well appointed and attractive. Unfortunately, our experience overall was very poor. The drinks were great but it was downhill after. The French onion soup had no flavor and sent it back. The steak came out under cooked and not very hot, lukewarm at best. The steak was tender but definitely not worth $69. The worst part was the dessert, which was the piña colada cake. The topping was spoiled and old/sour. We almost got sick and our server acknowledged it was old and spoiled. Did take the soup and dessert off the bill but our night out was spoiled. To top things off, manager was busy drinking and did not come over to address us and no apologies. Best of luck but we will likely not be back.
