I've always said that San Diego had no good dim sum (I drive to LA normally for dim sum), but that was before I visited this establishment. They are hands down the best dim sum spot in San Diego and rival those in Los Angeles. First let me say, the restaurant is very clean and well kept- even the bathrooms were acceptable. Their service was also on point - they kept check in on us and making sure our tea and waters were refilled. This is rare for a dim sum experience. The real winning point however is the food- every dish was made to impress and I am very difficult to impress when it comes to dim sum. Some examples of why their food was impressive:-The chicken feet was perfectly steamed. It was moist, right amount of chew and flavor, and just absolutely delicious.-The siumai was pipping hot, had the right portion of pork to shrimp to mushroom and the wrapper was not over steamed like many other places.-Mango pudding tasted like it was made with fresh mangos and not that artificial flavoring. The evaporated milk on top was a generous amount.I'm getting hungry just thinking about this place- my family will be regulars here.

My daughter found this gem of a restaurant scrolling on her Instagram. We came here for our anniversary and ordered three dim sum entrée and a soup. Everything was so delicious! We even ordered an entrée to go because we knew our other daughter would be very upset with us, not bringing leftovers home and we had eaten everything! I took pictures of all our food and the receipt they leave on the table showing the food that we ordered so I don't have to write it in this review. I'm too full to even think of all the yummy food that we had. I would highly recommend this place and I can't wait to come back . The service was excellent, they greeted us quickly, took our order, got our drinks and served our food and brought the check all in a timely manner.

They are placed in a huge shopping plaza shared with a Mexican grocery store and gas station. So there are plenty of parking spaces but it does get packed. They will seat you even if your whole party is not here yet. And they still do carts so you can look, point, and eat. The ladies pushing the carts will speak to you in Chinese but they can tell you what type of protein the dish has in English. The people is suits are typically managers that speak English and will bring you water, take the larger dish orders and get your check. Prices of the dishes are based on the size label so check the menu if you are trying to budget. Their dumplings and Siu Mai's are larger in size compared to the other major dim sum places in San Diego. Our favorite is their shrimp in flat noodle dish. Ask for some extra sauce as it is a sweet sauce that goes well with anything. Overall they are not salty and put a lot of ingredients into each piece. From the kitchen, their Mongolian beef is amazing. The meat is soft, not too salty and their onions are crunchy and sweet. They bring out a good amount too.

Good quality, good price, decent value. My experience at the Diamond Palace was satisfactory but my expectations were not met. While this is one of the better dim sum experiences I've had in San Diego, I find it hard to recognize any areas of excellence regarding quality or price. The best thing this restaurant excels at is beating the local competition which isn't the largest challenge. I can recommend this restaurant to try if you've never had dim sum but this isn't a location I would go out of my way to re-visit due to the disproportion between quality and price. We ordered about 10 items and the tab came out close to $100. For reference, most dim sum restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley charge around 5 to 8 dollars a dish and generally also serve at a higher quality with better service and more genuine experience. The dining experience at this dim sum restaurant was somewhat reminiscent of what a traditional experience would be like. Ideally there would be "cart ladies" that push the steamer carts around offering food to you while you sit at your table. Retrospectively, I noticed that half the time I had to flag down a server from afar and order items off the menu while waiting for them to bring it over from the cart which is just set against one of the walls. This is grossly incongruent with a traditional experience. I feel like if I were someone who has never had dim sum, I would find it quite intimidating and would be less certain which items to order. The tea tasted good but upon refills I noticed that all they did was add more hot water and after the third refill the tea just tasted super watered down. Ideally they would add more of the chrysanthemum flower to the tea after a few steeps when they notice the tea is getting progressively lighter in color. My friend and I ordered around 10 dishes which included: Pork Siu Mai, Feng Zhao (Chicken Feet), Cha Siu Bao (Baked BBQ Pork Bun), Ha Gao (Shrimp Dumpling), Ha Cheung (Shrimp Rice Roll), Ngau Cheung (Beef Rice Roll), Stewed Beef Tripe, Pan-Fried Turnip Cake, Lo Mai Gai (Sticky Rice Wrap), and the Pan-Fried Meat Bun with Chrysanthemum Tea for the table. In my personal opinion, the litmus test for dim sum restaurants are the most traditionally popular dishes which include the Pork Siu Mai, Chicken Feet, and Rice Rolls. Pork Siu Mai: A proper Pork Siu Mai would include velveted pork that is chewy, bouncy, and tender mixed in with wood ear mushrooms wrapped up in fresh wonton wrappers and all topped with bright and fresh masago/crab roe. The Siu Mai at this location hit most of the markers with the exception of a lack of wood ear mushrooms and some stale looking masago. Ultimately satisfied with this item but there is definitely room for improvement which I expect of this restaurant for the price they charge. Feng Zhao (Chicken Feet): Proper dim sum chicken feet would be juicy and fall off the bone with tender and gelatinous meat, and the skin braised in a sweet and umami fermented black bean sauce. The Feng Zhao at this location was surprisingly delicious and the meat was very tender and gelatinous. There exists room for improvement in the sauce as it lacked common "extra credit" ingredients such as black beans and peanuts braised in the sauce but the chicken feet themselves were well made. I was also satisfied with this item but again for the price of their dishes I would expect a bit more. Cheung Fan (Rice Rolls): Good rice rolls would have a nice balance of rice roll and its respective meat. I got both the Shrimp Rice Roll and the Beef Rice Roll and both were delicious. Admittedly, the Beef Rice Roll lacked the signature flavor and the sweet soy sauce that is signature to this dish has room for improvement. It tasted just like normal soy sauce so it was on the slightly salty side. Ideally the meat would be a bit more plentiful while wrapped with just enough rice roll to keep it together but not so much where you wouldn't taste the meat. On top of that the best part is usually when the signature sweet soy sauce thats paired with the rice rolls partially saturates the roll giving you an all-encompassing culinary explosion in a visually simple dish. Once again, it was up to par but for their more exceptional pricing I would be expecting more from this restaurant. Ultimately I was satisfied and would come back, but I would only do so sparingly until the standard of quality meets the standard of pricing.

It is so hard to find authentic and good dim sum in San Diego but this place is the closest thing we found. The dim sum is so good and fresh and it reminds me of dim sum back home. The inside is super big and has plenty of seating. The service was also amazing the server was very attentive. Any time I am crazing dim sum this is my go to place to come to.

I've always got Togo orders. I went a few times here, and the service is always amazing!! They got the nicest servers. The place is very clean and HUGE! Really chill vibes with lots of tasty food. Really good selection of food and drinks. I love the dim sum! It's definitely my favorite breakfast! I tried the stuffed eggplants for the first time and will be ordering more. It is delicious!! The Taro cake is my daughter's favorite, and we always got some because I don't want any hangry teenager. The shumai is also very delicious! I also see that they have a very good drink selection. Definitely will be coming back to try more stuff. I'm glad they have a great parking lot, but it does get busy on the weekend. They also share parking with Northgate.

Diamond Palace is an open banquet hall style restaurant with plenty of parking. They offer takeout online (with menu item photos!) and for call in pickup orders. Service was fine, but pricing can be a bit steep. Their pork siu mai and bbq pork are both extremely filling and worth the price, and is overall convenient if you're near the area and want a sit down dim sum fix.

First time coming here for lunch. Have been to their sister restaurant in Mira Mesa, Golden Island Dim Sum. This place is huge, bright and clean. Service is so friendly and fast! We picked our dim sum straight from the cart. There were 5 of us and we tried many options and they were all tasty, including shrimp har gow, steamed pork buns, xiao long bao, beef ribs, pork rice rolls, sesame bean balls, pork shu mai, shrimp shu mai, egg custard, sticky rice, shrimp egg rolls and a LOT more that we had 3 to go boxes! Delicious leftover! I also recommend their hot jasmine tea! Will definitely be back!
