Woodward Ave bar and grill

What a great place to visit! A really nice bar and grill located near the heart of Highland Park! We were first-timers, and everything was great. Laid back atmosphere and the drinks were good. Good Happy Hour specials. The food was fantastic, the service is unmatched and the music was great! You don't feel like you're in HP off Woodward when you walk in but you're reminded of HP with all the homage paid to HP HS. Great Black owned spot. Will go there again for sure.

This is a tough review. So bare with me!Years ago, I wrote a scathing review about Woodward Ave Bar and Grill on a different platform. The service was absolutely terrible. However, my most recent visit began much better. The service was more prompt, not great but reasonable. The food? Well, it met my expectations. It was bar food and it served the purpose. I felt like we had prime seating. In fact,, I would consider it VIP seating. We sat at the two large booths between the bar and the tabletops, close to the dance floor, with the live DJ playing music that each generation enjoyed. The atmosphere was great! I thought, this is a much better experience than before. We saw beautiful people, experienced great vibes, and ordered more drinks. Then suddenly a staff member quickly approached another staff member and quietly said, "Call the police. Xyz abc in the bathroom fighting." Next thing you know, our waitress was pushed into my sister. It turns out, it was the owners who were allegedly fighting. We decided to escape before things escalated and left immediately. An hour later 1:30 a.m., my sister received a text message with a picture of our inaccurate and unpaid bill. Not sure how I feel about paying a bill when our night was disrupted - BY THE OWNERS. While my general experience was initially great, the fighting along with my previous experience make me question whether I would recommend this place to others. Would I visit again? Probably so - just so I can write about it.

The cocktails here are excellent and the music is good. It was the perfect place to drop in with the girls and have drinks. There is ample parking in the back and even on the street in front. I'll happily go back.

Great place to visit if in Highland Park,MI!! Very grown and sexy vibe. Food was amazing drinks were great. Very unique place!! Live music, comedy shows, and happy hour daily 330-7.Fast and pleasant service. Owners are very nice ppl!! This place ambiance is a definite vibe!!

Wonderful atmosphere. Grown vibe! DJ was on point. Food and drinks were reasonably priced and good. Definitely check out this hidden gem.

The place to be..period! Down home atmosphere, people from all walks of life gathered to celebrate life!Great food and libations, and music that compels you to move your body!

This place is really great. Doesn't look like much from the street but then you step inside it's amazing. Owners were there and made us feel like family.

Really enjoyed the food and the people. Service was great despite being overwhelmed as only one on the floor. Would definitely go back again.
