Wan Kow Chop Suey Carry-Out Service

This is bar none my favorite Chinese place on the east side. The quality is always consistent and high. Our family loves the sesame chicken, the pepper steak, and almond chicken especially. They dont scrimp on the shrimp in the fried rice. And the Chinese vegetable soup broth is perfect when youre under the weather. I never have any issues ordering and theyve never once gotten an order wrong in 15 years. The ambiance is a bit 70s with all the wood paneling, but as its a carry out place im not there for the aesthetics. The food is great and thats all that matters.

Last night was Christmas Eve and being gluten free it was a nightmare when I got to my aunts house and she had nothing but a couple crackers I could eat. I immediately started searching for somewhere near me that's open, saying silent prayers that they did gluten free since there's so way I could cook myself something and get the kids ready for Santa's appearance. I found Wan Kow and called them to see if they could accommodate. The gentleman who answered was super helpful and told me they could make most dishes gluten free and i wouldn't be getting plain stir fried food with no flavor. They were happy to accommodate pick up times to coordinate with when I was leaving my aunts and also were up front about wait times (something I expected Christmas Eve at 8 pm). I ordered the egg foo young chicken, garlic chicken, and chop suey chicken and all were very tasty. They had my food ready to go when I walked in and it was a fast and friendly transaction. It's just a little hole in the wall carry out only place with a couple chairs for sitting while waiting for your order. I was so happy I got to eat and will definitely keep them in mind in the future when I have a taste for Chinese.

I'm sorry, but everything we ordered was bad! First time trying this place so tried a little bit of everything since one can order a half or full order. Do the cooks or owners taste their own food? Inedible, so bad. I understand this is probably a GP establishment, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's good. Is this what is considered good around these parts? If you the owners are reading this, I am so willing to come and help develop better flavors!! Let me know!!

Take out Chinese is a once a year treat for us (holiday week or non milestone bday, etc) but I'm pregnant and miserable and decided today was as good a day as any. We're still relatively new to GP so husband picked the first option that popped up on google closest to us and I'm so glad he did. We got the sesame chicken, chicken lo mein, and two egg rolls. Egg rolls were crispy and delicious and the sesame chicken was perfect - no weird pieces with off tasting meat (y'all know what I'm talking about) or burnt pieces and it wasn't too sweet. Chicken lo mein was my least favorite but props for all the veggies being cooked perfectly and for being good enough that our 5yo ate it without complaints. Happy to have found our local takeout place for special treats or weird pregnancy cravings.

Visited this local Chinese carry out because I work close buy. I was amazed by how easy their online ordering was to use. I placed a very large order that was hot, fresh, perfectly packaged and ready on time. The staff was so helpful and friendly. The restaurant is strictly carryout with no indoor dining. The vegetable fried rice was great,with lots of fresh veggies and the dumplings were delicious. Great little spot for Chinese carryout in Gross Point.

First of all, I ordered shrimp, egg foo yong, and got home and it was chicken. Also warm, not hot at all. We ordered Gai Kow which was pretty tasteless and also not hot at all. I was told it would be ready in 20 to 25 minutes and I got there and exactly 19 minutes from the time I hung up the phone. The only reason I can think of why it was not hot is that it had been done way earlier than they told me and had been sitting out. I only live three minutes away. We used to order from here all the time. This is the first time we have had food from here in several years and I would definitely not go back again.

First time Christmas dinner 2024. The flavor of Tao's chicken was good, whole order was generous amount. Unfortunately the chicken was tough and dry, which left me disappointed. My husband's Orange chicken was ok but said it didn't have much flavor. Egg roll and Spring roll were good but smaller compared to other local restaurants. The lobby was freezing cold, with a small space heater, lobby is drab, blah, not decorated, a couple of lobby chairs had stains but counter staff was friendly. They were definitely busy, maybe my food experience was because of that. $47 and change later.. I'll be tossing the generous leftovers. Bummer. Not sure I'll be back.

Fresh, generous portions and pretty tasty. Have been eating carry out from this legitimate Chinese restaurant for over 50 years. One of our favorites!!

Fast, Fresh and well - seasoned. The Almond Chicken was great today. Very crispy and Not greasy. The gravy was well seasoned. The egg roll was crispy, not greasy and filled up with sprouts and meat. The fried rice was garnished with nice green fresh green onions. Very Very Good, I'll be back for sure.
