We came on a Friday night at 8:30 (half an hour before they close), and the owner/manager greeted us with a smile and sat us. He was so polite and kind. The service was impeccable the entire meal. The rainbow roll was good, but that's a very standard roll, so I didn't expect anything different. I was so blown away by the beef bibimbap hot stone bowl and seafood Soondubu jigae! The broth for the soondubu jigae was very flavorful and had just the right about of spice/kick to it. They really loaded up the tofu. The beef bibimbap was also delicious. Their homemade bbq sauce for it really paired well with the entire dish and I would say it's one of the best bibimbaps I've had in metro-Detroit area. Thoroughly impressed by this little business here in New Hudson!

The restaurant scene in the South Lyon/New Hudson/Mildford area is quite limited when it comes to diversity. I was quite surprised to find tasty and authentic Korean food here! The hot stone bowl bibimbap was PIPING HOT and was perfect for creating the ever so desired crispy rice on the bottom. Their seafood soondubu jjigae was also one of the best I've had in metro Detroit. The kimchi ban chan was also very good. Our waitress and hostess were very nice and checked on us often.

I've ordered carryout from Umami before, and it was fine. However, tonight, after arriving home with their Sushi Lovers combo, I noticed a strong odor coming from the bag. Upon further inspection, I realized it was the salmon itself. I didn't risk eating it, as the smell was bad. What bothers me is it was obvious. My family smelled it too and asked if it was rancid. I'm really hoping this was an anomaly as I'd give Umami another chance, but in the future, I'll be sticking to veggie rolls.

Redoing my review because this place just keeps getting better. They've always been a really good sushi restaurant, but recently I've been very impressed with their Korean dishes as well. They have some of the highest quality sushi I've had in Michigan and I can't recommend everything here. Give this place a shot, it's to die for.

The food is delicious and the service is unmatched. It was our first time getting bibimbap and the owner taught us the proper way to eat it. He was so kind and attentive and the purple tea lemonade is absolutely delicious. The yaki udon was delicious, the sauce was not too heavy. The kimchi was delicious with the perfect amount of spice. The portions are so good for the price. Definitely a hidden gem!
