This venue is not for the faint of heart. A garage space that was converted to concert venue that could probably hold 100 or so people, but surely not sanctioned by the code enforcement. It is in the back of a house that I believe is somewhat of an artist's commune. The venue itself was brightly lit, and the stage was huge. There is a gender neutral bathroom located under a DJ booth, that was interestingly decorated, clean, but smelled like sewer gas.The venue is BYOB, and they take "donations" at the door. The donation was pretty much mandatory, but since Hubby's band was playing there, I coughed up $5 (they recommend donating $6-$10).There is brightly lit parking on the street, but don't park in the bus lane, that is clearly marked. Some idiot did, and we had to stop the show and make an announcement.

Trumbullplex is unlike any other place i've encountered in the city!40% Music Venue35% Zine Library15% Craft Space10% CommuneThis multi-purpose Woodbridge venue reflects its own past in many ways. The Trumbullplex actually started out as a Car Repair Shop, then it became a Morturary Prep Space, then during the 70's it turned into a Hippie Commune. Actually, a couple original & current Hippies still call Trumbullplex home. I know, right?!!? An 'Only in Detroit' moment : )The T-plex functions mostly as a music venue, but it also has a separate area for its large collection of zines; hence the 'Zine Library'. They also host a monthly art/craft workshop (silkcreening, jewelry making, sewing, etc), which usually costs between $5-$10 and worth every penny! Just an fyi: Don't be discouraged by Trumbullplex's outward appearance, it's not the prettiest neighborhood nor the most pristine looking building, but it's def worth visiting!
