I went to Tomo with some friends who said it's one of their favorite restaurants. I believe they are right. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.I got some tea with my meal. Right away, I noticed that it tasted different, with a subtle taste of corn. I really liked it. I asked the server what kind of tea it was and he wasn't quite sure, but he showed me the tub of roasted barley and said he thought roasted corn was in it as well. (After I got home, I did a little research, and, apparently, you can make a tea out of steeping roasted barley & roasted corn in boiling water. Who knew?)I ordered a bento box with bulgogi. One of my friends ordered a bento box with salmon, and the other ordered spicy sushi. We all enjoyed it very much. We also appreciated the salad with ginger dressing (why does a bit of head lettuce with a shred of carrot and the dressing always taste so good?) and the miso soup. The bento boxes were plentiful: the protein of choice, a good scoop of rice, 2 dumplings, 6 or 8 (I forgot which) pieces of sushi, a large piece of fried shrimp, fried sweet potato, and a piece of green pepper. It was delicious. I also took home more than I ate, so I will get to enjoy it again!

I was excited to try this restaurant as some of the reviews seemed pretty good. When we stepped in it had a Mom/Pop shop atmosphere that was unexpected in the strip mall. My dining partner and I were quickly sat next to an area that looks like it is used as the "bar" and food prep area. It was an odd place in my opinion for seating. But, since I was in the food prep area I could help but glance at the glass door commercial refrigerator that was next to me. There they stored some of the food items that eventually would end up on our table such as kimchi and pickled turnips and other unrecognizable items. I do not like uncovered foods in a refrigerator. It leads to the taste spilling over from item to the next and this was an immediate turnoff. My dining partner ordered the fried oysters and crab legs and did not like either item. I ordered tempura roll along with miso soup and both lacked flavor. My dining partner had a crab roll that was clearly surimi and disappointing. The service was friendly and attentive. But, the food could have been better!

My personal go-to for when I'm craving pork or chicken katsu curry. It's a complete meal for roughly $20 including a salad, banchan, udon soup, and a massive bowl of beefy meaty curry engulfing white rice topped with crispy crunchy katsu! Don't forget the palate cleansing pickled radish on the side

Their service here was very friendly and made eating here a great experience. I tried their udon, tonkatsu ramen, and sushi boat (I forgot which one). Udon, 4/5their udon broth was flavorful, with a nice homey warm soup that will satisfy your stomach. Tonkatsu ramen, 2/5There ramen broth was watery and did not taste like the rich ramen broth that usually comes with ramen. Also, their noodle texture tasted like it was not cooked properly.Sushi boat,4/5the sushi overall tasted fresh and well-seasoned. I only give this a 4 because the different rolls were not taste distinct, they tasted similar like eating the same type of roll.

This place is surprisingly good. I said surprisingly because people usually wait in line for the bbq next door and Tomo only have few customers. They have big portion for Japanese entree, so the higher price is sort of justify. Sashimi has thick cuts of fish and they gave you a big bowl of rice in your chirashi so probably it can fill 2 people if you don't eat much. Sushi rice you can taste and chew each individual grain. I love it. I don't have problem with service , waitress was very nice and attentive. If you don't want to wait in line for Korean bbq or conveyor sushi, I recommend this place for your Korean / Japanese food cravings

I really wanted to like Tomo because the service was great and the women working were so friendly but it will not be my go-to when I am craving ramen.I had the Tatsuta Age (Japanese fried chicken with spicy mayo) and Tonkotsu Ramen. The chicken was delicious and nicely fried. However, the ramen was underwhelming. The pork and egg were overcooked and as the ramen sat, the once bland bone broth became very watercress-y.With Hmart, Aldi, and Vivi Bubble Tea in the same plaza, Tomo is in a convenient location and worth a try if you're in the area.

This restaurant is 100% amazing!I went here in a weekday late afternoon for a late lunch and there were barely any customers. I ordered chicken katsu bento. The side dishes that came with the bento came pretty fast, and I didn't wait too long for the bento. I guess they needed a while to make sushi and the fried veggies in the bento. This entire bento set was a very hearty meal. It has a little bit of everything- katsu, salad, tofu miso soup, Korean side dishes, sushi and fried goods. It's a good portion overall too, so I ended up bringing almost half home. The sushi tasted fresh and well-made. It's a surprise as it's not the focus of the bento, which is the katsu. The katsu tasted great too. This restaurant is conveniently next to an Asian grocery store, H Mart. I went there after having a good lunch here. They have a lot of food options. I'd come again and try other things!
