The Potato Place

Might be a year since I've been here. Items have been removed. Items have been added. Potatoes are still huge!I placed an online order that was ready before I left the house so by the time I got it, it was room temp. In my memory, 1 free daisy tube of sour cream came with the purchase, but there was no sour cream. (You have to request.) I asked for garlic butter but the potato & fillings must have absorbed it all & i eat SO much garlic in my own cooking, that regularl amounts don't stand out. Although, the potato was potato dry (not enough butter to moisten)Brownie is very good. Caramely, chocolatey, and soft.All things considered, still a spotI enjoy humongous stuffed potatoes

I started not to go here for lunch because as much as I like this place and missed the spuds, (I hadn't order their taco spud in quite some time) the parking is tough you have to get a spot at a meter but I thought I was lucky as there was an available meter space today. I should have kept going!!!!NO FRESH VEGETABLES!!!! I've loved the spuds and taco spud for years since it was The Potato Factory!!!!! The picture in the restaurant when you order is the same as I remembered but the potato I received was nothing like the picture of what I ordered or what I was expecting. My order had sautéed red peppers, possibly with green peppers and onions. It was a sautéed blend with huge tomato pieces on top. Why not tell your customers that there is no longer fresh green peppers or onions on the potato. This should not be a surprise this potato looked like a red and orange mess. Disgusting. It was very disappointing. Plus I realized the change after I made it back to work and there was no time to take the potato back. Disrespectful! I called to ask about the vegetables thinking maybe they gave me the wrong potato and the party on the line stated that is how it comes now with sautéed (overly sautéed to me seemed they were from a frozen bag) vegetables. She didn't seem to care there was customer shock. Smh! If you are charging me $14.00 for a potato at least tell me you've changed the ingredients instead of having the photo of what it used to be on the wall menu. Just awful! A waste of money and time. I would have ordered something else. Instead I was left with a potato with from frozen vegetables, chunk tomatoes, cheese and ground beef. Just horrible also since we are here the young lady taking my order just assumed I wanted mixed cheese. She never asked what type of cheese. But listening to other patrons I guess they don't ask what kind of cheese you want; the person taking the order just picks the cheese for you unless you know to tell them what type of cheese you want. Just a change to an an old favorite. Smh! Just sad. I wanted my money back or at least another order. I won't be back. Too many tricks and changes. The picture on the wall menu should look like the awful potato they serve now not the potato from the past. Do better potato place. Wondering are they under new cut corner management. Allot was different. Ask clarifying questions because the pictures may not reflect the order you receive. Smh! Just sad!

I LOVE this place- it's the place your friends don't know about because it's huddled up in the university areaAnd don't let that lack of parking stop you- I order online and they bring it right out to my car out front! For $14 you're getting dinner for two or I eat it for two meals- make your own potato is the my go-to but they have so many specialty itemsEverything's goodI go all veg with just Parmesan cheese by my husband goes all out with the meats and cheesesNo idea why they haven't opened up another one yet- so popular!

When I was a student at Wayne state I went to the potato place several times a week. I haven't had a potato from here in at least 15 years. I was driving in the area and decided to give them a try. The first thing I noticed in the upgraded interior(again I haven't been here in 15 years). They have big screens with images of the most popular items and the full menu. I ordered the house potato (chicken, bacon and broccoli) with mixed cheese and garlic butter. The cashier told me it would be about a 10 min wait so I went to sit in my car. I received a text when my order was ready (less than 10 mins) and couldn't wait to get home to eat. The potato was as large as I remembered but I feel it used to have more butter and cheese. I added sour cream when I got home and was immediately taken back to my college years. I'm glad to see the quality has not declined.

I wanted to try this place for some time and finally got to! The potato did not disappoint! Loss of stars because there's no fountain soda, only bottled or Koolaid. The koolaid just wasn't that good. The place is very small with few seats and there's only street parking. I wouldn't go to Detroit for it but if you're in the area and like baked potato's try it!

Clean and updated inside, very friendly, fast service and delicious huge loaded potatoes. They're not open late, but you want this when you come home from the bar! Order you one at closing time and put it in your fridge for later - it heats up so well. We had the meat lovers and the chicken Cajun one - both were so yummy. Go to here.

Two weeks ago some friends and I were taking about what kind of restaurant we would open if we could. I said I'd open a stuffed potato bar.This week, there was a make your own stuffed potato restaurant! I may have gone overboard, adding ham, bacon and salmon with my broccoli and cheese sauce but OMG it's so yummy!!! I couldn't eat it all at once, ado I've got food for a while lol

We ordered Lunch through Door Dash today. I ordered the Philly Supreme Cheesesteak Potato. Funny it didn't look like a Philly Cheesesteak on a potato, with all that broccoli. It more like mixed vegetables with cheddar cheese . Don't let me start on the firm chunks of beef some with fat attached. I was looking for tender thin slices of meat , that wasn't there either. Yeah, I was underwhelmed by this lackluster meal. It was also on the dry side. For a potato this size you'll need to use quite a bit of butter to help keep it moist. I think the quality has went down and the price has risen with this place. I really didn't want Potato Place because the last time I had it, I didn't enjoy it . Sometimes you must take one for the the team. They can definitely do better in the future with the quality, taste and presentation of their food especially if they going to charge you an arm. Oh yeah you're going to pay extra for butter, sour cream ect.. especially if it don't come on it. Im not saying don't give it a try, I just would prefer better quality even if its as simple as topping on a potato.

Food was delicious. I placed an order online, it was ready fast and waswarm until I got home. The potato was excellent, seasoned well, the skin was tender and I love the choice of toppings.
