The Lodge Diner

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this one ...Service wasn't stellar. Not much variety for the price. The automatic 18% gratuity for carry out is down right insulting. We decided to use our casino comps here instead of the other two usual choices: Grand River Deli and Little Caesars. (Service at those two, always awful). Not many people dining, yet service seemed rather slow.Fake plants and diner seating gives it a kitschy feel.Food, however, was served really fast and hot. Interesting observation: they don't offer a dinner roll or any bread with the entrees. (You never think about it until you don't have it!)So here's our final conclusion ... if you happen to be in the casino and want a meal as opposed to the usual pizza and burgers, use your comps here. Would this place ever be a "choice" ... not likely.

Good for breakfast only open 6am-11am Used to be open 24/7? Wish they would keep longer hours, it's a decent place with good food and service!

Us 6 guys had our christmas night out at the casino and stopped and ate here. The pot roast was incredible as was the fish and chips. wait staff was freindly but a little lax on service. Of course gratuity was automatically addded in because there was 6 of us which was expected and noticed on the bill. Fisg and chips were really good but they could cut down on the fires and add in 1 more piece of fish would have made it much better. will come back!

Tervice and ambiance was top notch. Food was good. Great value for the money. Good food.

If talking was a sport the members of this wait staff would be gold medalist. It's incredible how much a group of people can just talk talk talk talk. Never paying attention to food being ready. Not keeping counters clean and free of dishes (as a dirty disgusting okay that looks at least 20 min old is sitting next to me). It seems the individuals here from the wait staff to management have a far more important personal life filled with conflict of interest B's than doing their jobs. It's truly a shame that a establishment that's suppose to be top shelf SERVING TOP DOLLAR priced food has a wait staff that couldn't give to shits about their job. Quite simple I'm in a casino if u want me to consider tipping you I suggest you do your job. At this moment you will never get a dime Darren thanks bud.

Needed a place to eat ASAP and the casino was why we were here. Unfortunately, since you are within Motor City Casino you are limited to food options and at the mercy of their pricing. We picked The Lodge because you can have a sit down meal, be served, and not spend $50+ on the buffet. The restaurant is past the buffet and other places to eat and all the way tucked in the back. 20-30 minute wait on a Saturday night - even though inside the tables were not all full. I think this made some people frustrated - I know I was! There was a bit of confusion as well with which person was going to put your name down for a table and which person was going to cash you out. The manager also fired a bus boy, so that was entertaining while we waited for our table. They could have put a few more chairs out for people to sit and wait for their table. Finally got called back and the best part of our dining experience was out waitress. I feel terrible that I cannot remember her name - it may have started with an R or N? But she was great! She came over right away and told us she wanted to get our food in first for the kitchen before the large party that was next to us. I appreciated her honesty and realizing that our food will take less time to get out then 10+ ladies at a table next to us. Our waitress did a great job on checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed - even while she was working it with a lot of other tables. Great service as well with guys re-filling our waters. The décor is a little boring and uninteresting with their colors. It felt clean and nice but décor just didn't have enough going on for me. Also there are no bathrooms in the restaurant and instead you have to leave the restaurant and use the main public bathrooms on the floor - this is a bit of a pain when the restaurant is so far way and in the back.The food - okay let's get to the food. This is a place where your eyes get bigger than your stomach because everything sounds really good and their menu is a decent size. However, I think I was too hungry and my expectations were too high. They serve breakfast all day but also have sandwiches and entrees. Food items were mostly comfort foods like pot roast, etc. I got the chicken and waffles and the waffles did not taste like much - it was needing some vanilla or something to the batter. The chicken was good but my batter seemed to be a little underdone. They also added strawberries but one or two of the strawberries were green like it wasn't ripe. They do give you butter and syrup which I couldn't complain, especially when I mixed everything together. I wouldn't get this dish but I would try something else. My husband got the fish and chips and he was happy with it. We also ordered a side of fries and onion rings. The fries were awesome! Crispy and hot but the onion rings were a bit oily and too thick for my liking. Onion rings come with a sauce that is like a spicy ranch which was good. Also got a side of normal ranch and was I was disappointed because it was Hidden Valley. Nothing against Hidden Valley especially when you need some ranch on your pizza at home - but at a restaurant where it is decently pricey? C'mon - make your own ranch! Definitely would come back here when visiting the casino but I would try something else. I will say they have big portions though! Lots of doggie bags were leaving the restaurant.

We stopped by on our way passing through and we were so glad we did. Service was slow starting out but the food was great. We ordered macaroni and cheese as a starter and it was the best we've ever had! I had nachos sub chicken and my boyfriend ordered a cheese burger. Even though the server didn't write down our order it still came out correct. I'm only giving 4 stars because the nachos came out 5 minutes after my boyfriends burger was delivered and he had to stop eating and wait for my food to come out.

Avoid. Food is awful. Service is worse. You're treated like you're trying to defraud them with payment. I've never been carded so hard before in restaurant not ordering liquor.

OMG. This was an epic fail.Waitress was nice but not good. There were only 6 or 7 tables and it took 10 min to get water.Waitress finally took order.Chicken soup was so flavorless. Ugh.Our dinner came out n was ....welll.. uh oh..hubby git Chicken strips. FAKE.my casino club was so dry and awful. We should of wasted our money at the deli next door.AWFUL

Horrible Horrible Horrible service! literally had to sit for 10 minutes before a waitress even acknowledged we were sitting there! she then told us she will be right with us and for another 5 minutes she waits on tables that are already served and take payments instead of just taking my damn order and getting it to the chef if I wasn't paying for this with my casino comps I definitely would have left!
