I was on this side of town and wanted something to eat that wasn't to out of the way, and I used to have this place bookmarked ions ago. I figured now is as good of a time as any since I'm here to check it out, so off I went.Walking in, the place is cutely decorated and had some booths available along with bar seating. Since I was alone, and it was Sunday morning, I didn't want to clog up a booth so I sat at the bar instead. The bartender/server was helpful and gave me a menu to review for ordering. I noticed on the way in that they primarily do brunch on sunday mornings only. It was almost 11 am and really wanted a burger, so she had to check with the kitchen to make sure it was okay, which it was.I went with tater tots instead of fries with my burger and a lemon water since I didn't want coffee or pop at the time. My food came out and it was good, but just good. The burger was large so I couldn't finish it, but I was able to eat all of the tater tots because their wonderful. They fortunately use cloth napkins here, so I didn't have to ask for more! I was able to adequately destroy the nice linen napkin with my messy eating style at that hour, so God bless whomever has to clean that up! (Ok, it wasn't that bad, but seriously, great napkins here.)I don't mean to sound nitpicky when I say this, but I did have two minor annoyances. First, the place is small and intimate, and I was sitting at the end of the bar, but dang it, every time the door opened and someone walked in, I got hit with a wall of cold air. By the end of the meal I was ok, but it sucked. Secondly, I asked for some hot sauce for the tater tots and usually they bring out a bottle of it. NOT HERE. They put it in a little stainless steal bowl that you'd put ranch dressing or ketchup in, and that was that. WHY. I had to dip each tater tot in one at at time because I'll be damned if I try to drizzle hot sauce out of a container like that. Overall a decent experience and I support small business. I know they can't control the cold air coming in, or the sun blasting the tables up against the wall, but it was either go blind in a booth from the sun or die of frostbite at the bar. Either way I'm screwed, so I did what felt was best. Also, the one thing they can control is the hot sauce thing. please provide bottles to I don't have to dip each stupid TOT in the sauce!!!!!

Spent a whole day snowboarding at Alpine Valley and wanted to grab some food away from the mountain.Used yelp to find us a burger spot and came across The Filling Station. We got directions and ended up here less than 10 minutes later. We walked in, were greeted and chose to sit at the bar area. Ella our burger expert gave us the run down on the top sellers, as well as, her personal favorites. My group of 4 ended up ordering a lamb burger, two carnivores, and a basic beef burger.Prior to the meal we had a few trips to the bathroom which was clean, and had hot water pretty quick. We noticed one of the booths had what looked like mayonnaise running up the wall and a pool of it on the floor. I don't typically dock too much for booth cleanliness, and the person may have just left. Our food came out pretty quick. The cook in the back was visible and told us he hoped we enjoyed it -- it was a very friendly and pleasant experience with all staff. Our burgers were good, no one had any major complaints -- the other guy who ordered a carnivore burger said it was a bit too salty and was concerned that it wasn't actual wagyu & elk like it stated. However, my carnivore burger was great, and i didn't have any issues putting it away.I ordered tator tots with my burger and upgraded them to have bacon & cheese, which made them 10x better. We had some chipotle aioli on the side which i dipped them into, it was a great meal.If we're craving burgers and out snowboarding again, it would be a great place to stop. Or if you're in the area, check it out.

Was hoping this had a relation to the Filling Station up in Traverse City but I don't think it does. Judging by the lack of a beer list and no pizza I think that can be confirmed. Place is pretty small and a wee bit dingy with an air of modernist decor. It feels like it's 60% there. Old school dining counter and old worn booths along the three outer walls and the grill/ cooking area behind the counter window. Can appreciate the try and doing what you can with what you got. Service was good, servers very nice and sweet. Great manners and helpful. I will say in terms of drinks, they have some cool offerings. Mocktails, shakes, pop, and the like. The water was very metallic, probably well, and water glasses were pretty yellow. Didn't drink past a sip and I grew up on well. Need an osmosis system or filters before serving that stuff. Oh and every drink from pop to milk is $3...Onto the food. Started with the "fried" buffalo cauliflower bites. Very overdone/ rubbery and not nearly crisp enough with the breading. The dipping sauce I thought was ranch but very thick and could pass for tartar instead. D- on that one. Ordered the carnivore burger which is a mixture of boar, waygu, bison, and elk and various meats into a burger patty. Problem is with this one is that everything comes with extra FAT. Fat soaked bun, fried egg, fat soaked bacon, fried pickle... enough to offer a triple bypass as a side dish. Had to sub out the bun, move out the egg and no other fat- cooked substance on this thing. Also had to ask for L, T, O on it cause it doesn't come standard. It was a large burger and filling but also left a funny taste and gave my stomach a rumble after. The side of tots were crispy good but had extra salt on those too. Overall, C burger. Also had a sample of the lamb burger which was again, loaded with salt. Couldn't eat more of it. Hard pass. Overall wouldn't recommend it as a go- to. Glad I tried it I just don't think it's my place nor a top burger place even in the area. But hey try it for yourself, be your own judge.

I'd read the reviews for The Filling Statin Burger Bar, and I felt like taking a little drive, so I decided to go there today. When I got there, it looked familiar. I think I'd been there in its previous incarnation as a coney island. (I mostly recognized it by a couple of the half booths, and, of course, that it was pretty much in the middle of a neighborhood.) The restaurant is is pretty small -- maybe 10 booths plus the counter. I went on a Wednesday around 1:30, and there were people at only 3 tables.I ordered the mushroom burger. The server made a point of letting me know that it was just the mushroom (no meat), which I appreciated. I chose the sweet potato waffle fries to go with it.The sandwich was so good. Even though there was no meat, it felt kind of decadent. They offered some kind of aioli for the fries, but I liked them plain -- they really didn't need anything. The only think I didn't like was that their iced tea isn't fresh brewed (I never really understand that; it's so cheap and easy to make. Just put some tea bags in cold water and let it sit.) So I got lemonade. That wasn't fresh, either, and it wasn't a very good mix. But other than that, I was quite pleased. I also only ate half of it, so I have more for tomorrow!

Quaint atmosphere. Food was very good. Service was good. What wasn't good was the wait time from ordering to actually getting our food. It was close to 45 minutes, for bugrers! Didnt have time to eat the meal due to a prior commitment, had to use takeout containers. Finally, the water was nearly undrinkable! No filtering or water conditioning. Will need to bring in your own bottled water next time.

I really wanted to love this place. Please consider this review as constructive criticism because I really want this local joint to make it. We (party of 3) walked in during a snow storm to a near empty dining room. 2 patrons were finishing up. The food took FOREVER to come out. Why? Do you prioritize your carry out orders? That's what it felt like. Servers are extremely nice but terrible at service. She forgot everything we added to our order. But I didn't mind because again, the servers are incredibly pleasant. My 4 year old kept asking when the food was going to come, that's how long we were waiting. Mind you, we were the only ones in the place that had an order in. Hopefully you guys can add some coloring sheets and crayons for the kiddos to play at the table. So when the food finally came, disappointment. Not cooked to order. Cooks, you have one job at a burger joint! My burger was over cooked. Woe was me. So I have to gripe at the price tags, $9 for a kids meal, only two chicken tenders with fries and no drink. For that price, I get plenty more at other establishments. $7 for a mocktail? Also, why don't you serve non alcoholic beer? The water is terrible, seriously upgrade that. It's the simple things that make a difference. Not the paint colors or decor. Did a taste test on the tallow fries, they were good but not as crispy as the regular fries. I still preferred the tallow fries. So I wasn't blown away by the burger, would NOT order one again from here, totally underwhelming. The prices were too high for what was offered but I do applaud the friendly service. Shake was okay but would never pay $7 again for it, would head to Arby's for a good shake instead. Loved the kid's surprise at the end, that was stellar and my son loved it. I truly hope this was an off night & someday will try breakfast but I'm a little nervous to come back & have the same lackluster experience.

great new restaurant in white lake!!! the burgers are super yummy and the menu is really interesting. The staff is here is super attentive and friendly. I've never been looked after better than this place. The restaurant is decorated very nicely and it is very refreshing. The only disadvantage would be this place is slightly on the pricer side, besides that it's a must visit!!

The service was great! Their mocktail choices are a juice lovers heaven!!! I got the salty mocktail which is carrot ginger beet and salt... it could've had more ginger and carrot but I still loved it! Their gluten free bun is so fluffy and doesn't fall apart, it's not tough or chewy. I have not had a bun that was gluten free be that good!!! Their tater tots were so crunchy and perfect. They have an entire separate kitchen area for gluten free allergy!!! BOGO on the weekends between 2-4

Wow, oh, wow! such a cute little independent restaurant! Food and service were great. I had the lamb burger while my daughter had beef. Both were cooked perfectly, and we both enjoyed the fries cooked in beef tallow. The sour mocktail is delicious, and not too sour at all. The strawberry milkshake was made with actual strawberries (frozen, but not just pink stuff). Others have talked about service, but we had no issues. In fact, both servers were very attentive. There were several other occupied tables, and we were there on a Saturday about 2pm. Truly appreciate all the attention to the menu, and the restaurant was very clean, even the restroom. Can't wait for my gluten-free husband to try it!
