The Dovetail

The Dovetail is a neighborhood favorite. They offer unique coffee options and the space is great for meeting up with friends. They host various events throughout the month. When I have time to relax, the Dovetail is my go to. I often recommend this cafe to people who are unfamiliar with this area.

Everything about The Dovetail is amazing. This is a fun and homey vibe. Good place to have a delicious coffee and relax. The jam sessions are always fun with a supportive audience. Not a place for uptight folks unless they're looking to relax and vibe out.

If you are an actual coffee drinker then I wouldn't recommend this spot. My vanilla latte was pure syrup and curdled oat milk. The latte wasn't your pretty poured in a mug. I got mine to go and it came in the styrofoam cup with the cafe pictures. I can say the ambiance could probably be enjoyable for other just not for myself. Between the music and the wall art it was very interesting. This place has potential but needs revamping of the menu and barista skill level.

As I walked into the Dovetail for the first time I was greatly pleased by its quaint charm. All of the furniture is mismatched and you even have the choice to lounge on car seats! The owner is a friendly, talkative man who remembers his customers. I have tried the Mexican hot chocolate and strawberry milkshake, both pleased me greatly! This place is great for quiet studying or catching up with friends. Come once to the Dovetail, and you'll be sure to be back a second time. :)

I wanted to try a new coffee shop that was not the traditional corporate style brands. This place seemed interesting, so I went there to try it.I ordered the Almond Latte, and it was just whatever. The primary flavor was the almond syrup. It really did not have that coffee feel to it. There was also no design at the top that is usually given with lattes.The atmosphere here was pretty cool, but I feel that it has a bad location. There is a lot of art and visuals all over the walls. I feel like this coffee shop would do better in places like Royal Oak or Detroit.The service was good. The cashier was nice and respectful. He was also the one who made the latte.

I stopped here to meet with my friend who lives across town from me. I was looking for a spot we could meet really quickly because she's pregnant and I'm going to be her doula. We found this spot in the middle and were going to talk here for a little, maybe like 30 minutes. The owner comes over to us and asks if we want to get anything, my friend says no thanks because the baby doesn't like coffee. I look at the menu but I say no thank you because I honestly didn't want anything. I didn't know that this was a place that didn't allow you to come in and talk/do work unless you buy something. The owner proceeds to rudely kick us out and say we are loitering. The place is run down, dirty, the outside sign is broken, and I almost fell sitting down in the chair because it was falling apart. If you care anything about aesthetics, cleanliness, and good customer service, avoid this place.

The dovetail is the perfect third place. A great place with a sense of community, regulars, and an awesome owner. The service varies on what hour you go because it's literally just 1 fella. The interior design alone will keep you occupied and astounded, and the owner has a story for how each little thing came to be. If the art isn't your thing there's literally 100000 different games for you to play at your will. The food and drink are some of the cheapest (positive) and most worthwhile you'll be able to find in this economy. #chaw
