Came here for a trade show dinner with a vendor. The building and interior are very impressive. Dark wood, chandeliers, Victorian furniture. It's all very cool. The bar is relaxed but upscale. Bartender is outstanding and works her butt off. There are lots of comfy couches to drink and relax on. They also have a separate menu. Lots of bar type food. We had dinner in the main dinning room. We were alone. It seems that it is closed on Tuesday and they made an exception for us. That was nice. I think the manager waited on us. He was very good. The food was just ok. He was bragging about it but it was just ok. I got the sea bass and it was not as good as it should have been. The wagyu smash burger was good. Fries weee just ok too. Everyone else thought the food was just ok too. Overall the ambiance is awesome! Maybe the bar food is better. The drinks are good. Now the place is pricey. This is a special occasion type of place. But it is very cool. Even to just go in and look around.

The Detroit Club is a beautiful and historic building that is worth visiting for drinks or dinner. I attended a 1920s themed dinner event here, and everything put on by the Detroit Club was superb. The food was so delicious and exceeded my expectations. The salmon was so tender, and there was a made to order pasta station. I plan to return for more events along with trying SOAK Spa, which I have heard good reviews from friends.

My mother was coming to town for a Christmas shopping visit and we booked the hotel club online very easily. The check-in process was seamless and our room was very cozy and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the spa and the morning breakfast. The lounge area is ambient and plenty of materials to read and cozy up by a fire. There is an adorable parrot there which just adds a touch of whimsy. The staff are all very nice and considerate and we highly recommend Staying here. There is a smoking lounge on the third floor that I know my husband would appreciate. The main floor restaurant we ate at for dinner was delicious. The hotel was quiet during sleeping hours with light jazz and city buzz heard into late night.

Nice room but no working heat. I tried going to front desk who said it would be fixed while we were out at a concert. We came back at midnight to find that room temp won't go above 75 degrees. Went back to front desk and they offered a space heater!!! I knew I was in detroit but they had no class. I asked for a manager to give a call and never received one. Just shows how much they cared!! Stay away unless you like a cold room!!

The ambiance was really nice. Our waiter was super attentive at the beginning and then through the middle pulled a "hudini" and disappeared. The food was ok, nothing to rave about. Half of our party like their dishes like pasta and salmon and the other half didn't. Chicken was too dry and halibut with couscous had no flavor at all. Not sure I'll be coming back.

I have had two couple's massages here; this place is impressive. The grotto is an excellent finish to the massage. I will return.

Canceled reservations when they thought they could get more because of the NFL draft. Sleazy and unethical place. Go anywhere else.

We had a great dinner at The Detroit Club on NYE. The building is old, eclectic and gorgeous; the staff is warm, engaging and willing to bend over backwards to make sure you're happy. The drinks were amazing, and dinner was delicious. We started with raw oysters. Then for dinner I had salmon with root vegetables and my husband had tenderloin with broccolini. We will be back!

Old hotel renovated has nice picture appeal, but in actuality it is not good. The renovations seem to be made to look great but are not professional nor luxurious. The hotel Front Desk doesn't look updated at all. Looks more like a coat check in at a ....'Club'. Across from it they have 'Club' T-shirts for sale. Some are out on hangers and look like they have been there for decades. Colors look faded. Just tacky. The floor of the entry is old tile. I got a real good look at the front desk and lobby as it took them 10 minutes for me to get anybody. They have a bell which I rang several times. The elevator looks almost scary, like a something from the 40's. Raggedy floor and tiles. The room itself is not bad, but it is not elegant. The Bed is on the firm side, the pillows, I called them bubble pillows. They were big and soft, but when you laid your head on one side, the other side would bubble up. Room had a nice shower but 2 things with it. I put my liquid soap bottle on the shelf and it slid off as the glass shelf was not straight. Next, after a nice hot shower, at least the water was nice and hot, when I was trying to get out, it took me a few seconds. The door opens into the shower. Nothing wrong with that, but the door handle is only on the outside of the door. Hence, with my wet hands, I had to grab the small knob backside of the handle to pull the shower door open. The furniture looked tasteful but was hard. About 9PM I was hungry and thirsty. Had an ice bucket in the room, but no plastic to put over it. Anyway, I went out the room looking for an ice maker. Couldn't find one so called the lobby. Lobby answered and said the ice was only down on the 1st floor by the entrance but they could bring some up. I said, well I was going to order some food and I could get the ice with the food. Front desk said they could take my order and bring it all up together so I made an order with the front desk....and waited......and waited......and waited....and looked out the room to see if they left it out....nope....and then at 11 I just went to bed. Hence, No Food For me. At least the net morning when I checked out it was not on my bill. Looking at other reviews and along with my experience, it seems that the place is very understaffed, hence the long waits and bad service. Also, most the other reviews are from people eating at the restaurant. I stayed at the hotel and did not get to eat there as mentioned. All in all, this is a quaint old place and is more like a Bed and Breakfast with a restaurant and cigar bar then it is a hotel. If you have that in mind, and expect that then it may be ok. However, know that service was both bad and slow, and this old quant place has been somewhat modernized, but is not luxurious or elegant.
