The Daily Diner

It was time for breakfast, and we were out in the area and my daughter had specific requirements for what she was going to eat (scrambled eggs with cheese and hash browns). I did some research on the magic Yelp machine, and The Daily Diner had that met, and also had great ratings. It's a cute place inside, relatively small, but you're greeted right away with a friendly greeting. They have a solid normal menu and specials on the board (bacon stuffed pancakes? I can't say I wasn't tempted). Service is really solid and the food came out quickly. I decided on the corned beef hash with 3 eggs - it was a whole can of hash! Needless to say that portions are very generous, bordering on huge. The food was delicious, and we'll be back when we're in the area. They have the standards and some surprises at very reasonable prices considering the portion size.

I've moved out of Waterford, so I haven't been back here. I was passing it today and decided to go in.Well, first thing, I almost left: despite having credit card stickers on the door, they have signs saying they only take cash. That did not please me, but I checked & saw I did have money, so I decided to stay.The second thing that almost made me leave was that the place smelled like CIGARETTES. It has been illegal to smoke in restaurants for at least a decade, so I don't know why this noxious smell filled the tiny restaurant.Still, I stayed because I was hungry, and I was enjoying the bantering between the staff and a couple regulars. I ordered the spinach & feta omelette with hash browns & rye toast. It was fine, but nothing special or different from any other spinach & feta omelette I've had. But, the servers were courteous, and the service was good.

I enjoyed the food the place literally feels a little sticky inside of you know what I mean. But the service and atmosphere is line an old school diner. They have amazing breakfast special prices before 11am weekdays.

We love to get omelets from Daily. We've only ever done takeout, but our food is hot and fresh when we arrive to pick it up, amazing service and quality. Such a cozy little space, but absolutely delicious.

A cute mom n pop restaurant with a bustling atmosphere. It was around 11:30am when my husband and I decided to stop in for the first time! We had a small wait of five minutes before we got seated by which we were greeted many times and offered to sit down at the bar while we wait. The prices are very reasonable along with our servers who were consistently checking in on us was very welcoming. Food was great and the fruit was super fresh! I got scrambled eggs with toast and bacon, along with the side of fruit. My husband got strawberry french toast and sausage (which I really enjoyed! lol). We definitely plan on returning in the future.

What a great breakfast/lunch place! Visiting Michigan from New England, we are always on the lookout for local places for breakfast, and The Daily was a good find.Small, welcoming place, we were seated in a comfortable booth by a window. Servers so nice & attentive. They open at 7 during the week & 8 on weekends. Both breakfast & lunch always served. There are daily specials to try too aside from the regular offerings. We will be sure to stop in again on our next visit.

Honestly, after COVID the food in Waterford has taken a turn. The few staples my wife and I would frequent during family visits had either shut down, moved locations, or no longer had staff that seemed to want to work. This place is the exception. We've never waited for more than 8/10 minutes for food the waitresses have all been the same throughout the years, and are always happy to see you come through the door. Admittedly, I tend to be picky. Attending culinary school will do that to you but I've never regretted a single dollar spent at this location. All the specials are just that, special, and you can't beat the weekday specials for breakfast. Long story short don't let the size of this place fool you. It's a keeper.

Updated Review: It's been some time since my original review. The DD has become our breakfast spot of choice. There are plenty of other breakfast spots/diners in the area, but none of them maintain the quality or level of service that we get here at the DD. Consistently the best service I've had at ANY restaurant in recent memory.That being said, we do occasionally get a few menu/special items that turn out to be clunkers so if you do order something and it's not great, don't let that deter you from coming back and trying other things. They do many dishes from scratch, which you just don't see happening at most diners.They do offer Gluten Free options for those interestedFor those interested, the items I've had and wouldn't order again; Biscuits and Gravy; Generous portion, but bland and just not very good IMOHash Browns; It may be corrected by asking the cooks to make them a specific way. What I got wasn't great. Waffles; Thought these might be good. No. Don't do it. Stick to the PancakesPancakes with some Lemon sauce; I expected more of a Lemon Curd. The lemon sauce they make is mediocre and made me not like the pancakes they covered. Which is crazy because I always rave about the pancakes.

The daily dinner is a wonderful place to enjoy a great atmosphere as uplifting experience were your welcomed an loved .Great food were Dave goes out of his way to ask me if I'm having hashbrowns cause he takes care of his customers he knows how I like them oh an your waitresses are so prompt an curtesy they work hard an still show there peaceful and inspiring smiles as much as I appreciate them all I wish them a merry Christmas and happy new year oh ps. The Daily Diner food is outstanding!!! My favorite is the corned beef hash and eggs. The service is perfect-friendly, courteous, and fast. Our son is Autistic, the staff has always went above and beyond when we come in The Daily Diner regardless. Family friendly and a Home away from home ambience.I eat at The Daily Diner often and have never been disappointed in the least. My wife said I need to eat something once or twice.I would definitely recommend you try it out. You will be back twice if you do.
