Clawson Steak House has been a timeless gem for years, and it continues to stand out as one of the best steak houses around. With its classic charm and impeccable service, this is the perfect spot for a special celebration or a romantic dinner. The dining experience here is intentionally unhurried, allowing you to fully savor each course. I ordered the Manhattan Scallops and Steak, which were absolutely delicious and perfectly portioned--a refreshing change from many modern steakhouses that serve small steaks with little to accompany them. The escargot was an excellent starter, as was the classic French onion soup, both packed with flavor and prepared to perfection. To complement my meal, I indulged in an extra dirty martini that might just be one of the best I've ever had. The bar's attention to detail is just as commendable as their kitchen's.The ambiance of Clawson Steak House is another standout feature. With its dark, soft, and classic atmosphere, stepping inside feels like a journey back in time. The original décor adds to its charm and makes the experience truly unique.Service was absolutely 5-star, with perfect pacing between appetizers, starters, the main course, and dessert. I deeply appreciate a restaurant that understands the art of a long, relaxing dinner, and Clawson Steak House delivers flawlessly. Also live music and dancing on Friday nights!

As much as I dont want to write a negative review, it has to be done here. My bf and I came here about 630ish last night. Sat promptly by the manager. Not even a menu, or a greeting. we sat there for about 15 plus mins. and NOTHING! The bus boy was the one who deserves the star. I understand our waitress had a huge party, but she didnt even acknowledge us. Hardly check in with us. We had to ask the bus boy for everything. And onto the food. Oh boy. The Steaks were sub-par. Demi-glaze was like Jello, and 2x baked potato was cold, when they took it back it was STILL cold. How do you mess up a potato 2x??!!! My asparagus was cold and don't get me started on the Lobster bisque! When I said something to the manager, she said oh "you probably got the stuff at the bottom!" Im like what??!!! ewwww it was pure fatlike. The manager was NO help whatsoever. Only offered us dessert, which we didnt take at all! This restaurant needs a COMPLETE revamp! And Find a management that actually cares!

We celebrated our 54th wedding anniversary at Clawsons steakhouse last night. This is the 4th time we've dined there since the Covid rampage was here. We were a little apprehensive to eat there due to the fairly large # of very negative reviews on Yelp! We arrived at 6:15 for our 6:30 reservation, the place was packed and noisy . We were seated immediately. The hostess questioned us as to our seating preference as I am handicapped. She was very pleasant. Matt was our waiter. He took great care of my husband and myself. While ordering he was quite attentive and asked about our food preferences . He made us feel very welcome almost as if we were dining at home with close friends. The noise level was that of people around us enjoying each other's company. No so loud that it was hard to hear your table mate and we wear hearing aids. Our meals came in a reasonable amount of of time with a good amount of time between courses. I eat slower than most and sometimes I find that I must leave part of a meal so I can have hot food with my table mates due to food prep being RUSHED & I end up with courses being piled upWe had the snails, they were piping Hot nice & garlicky--- yummy with great toast point. This place serves great food, both good quality and well prepared! We also had the daily soup (which was seafood chowder). It was great so many times anymore when you go to an "upscale" "Restaurant one gets "hot out of a can!" It had a good amount of seafood in a creamy rich broth. Nice! We also had a melt in your mouth large cut Prime rib cooked at a perfect mid-rare and our waiter asked if I wanted fresh horseradish OR creamy style(!) and my husband had a Pretty good sized Filet, it too was cooked perfectly to his VERY picky request. You know I'm sure they serve Dessert there but who has room for it after a meal that was fit for a King was served! I will be having prime rib for lunch tomorrow. The drinks have a healthy pour to them. Our waiter even asked what kind of gin I wanted!Yes people complain about the decor being dated. We have dined around the world (really) the place looks like a 1980-1990's supper club and it was clean!NO COMPLAINING here Can't wait for our next dining adventure there P.S. I forgot about the musical trio that played during dinner. They were pleasant to listen to , even a few teenagers got up to dance with each other. GREAT EVENING!!

It is a nice place but very loud. It is expensive with a hamburger at almost $21.00. We knew it was a pricey place with dancing and a band. The service was good but we had to ask for our check at the end after waiting a bit. Overall service is good. The menu said we had to order 2 drinks during entertainment which we did. Almost $8 for a bottle of beer.I had the perch which was okay. I have had better. I did see in the kitchen briefly because the door was open and I saw a waitress with bare hands putting lettuce on a plate. Overall, 3 stars.

I've lived near this institution for decades and finally went tonight with family for the first time. It was quite a flashback to bygone era from the decor and menu. The interior is dark-paneled from the 1970-80s. My chair had holes from wear in the arms. Service was very nice and attentive. The menu is extensive and full of interesting items. All meals come with bread, soup, salad and a starch or today's vegetable. I got the prime rib (house cut which is the smaller size was huge). Plentiful is the rule at the Clawson Steak House. The prime rib was very tasty. The lamb chops, salmon and ravioli were good as well according to my family. The French onion soup was very average. The key lime pie, made onsite, was lacking in taste and clearly in a poor store bought crust. We had a nice meal, the service was great.

Old school steakhouse vibes. Split the prime rib extra cut with my husband for our anniversary and had lots of leftovers! Loved the house made blue cheese dressing on our salads too!

This was hands-down one of the best dining experiences I've had in the past year possibly even longer. How I grew up not far from here and yet never dined here is beyond me? My grandparents even used to come for dinner and dancing back in the 60s. Well there's no time like the present and I was able to rectify that erroneous mistake. I'm already planning my next visit in December. We came to celebrate my friends birthday. Not having reservations on a Friday night I was taking a leap of faith but had a contingency plan of cocktails at the bar while waiting for a table. It worked out great and my friend and I were able to enjoy a round of cocktails while they prepared a booth for us in the main dining area. The Mark James band was setting up and we had a perfect view of the dance floor. It was an old-school dining experience. One where they don't rush you and the courses are spaced out to give you plenty of time to enjoy your food, listen to the music, and enjoy your company. Everything we tried was wonderful. We started with the soft bread basket. After being on keto for over a month it was a treat to just enjoy warm buttered bread. For an appetizer we shared an order of escargot (my favorite). It came with buttery garlic toast points. Next up was a dinner salad which was good (typical dinner salad-no complaints). Our waitress knew how to balance the right amount of presence but also letting us enjoy the experience. For the main course I chose prime rib, medium rare as recommended, and my friend had the char grilled 12 oz. New York strip steak also medium rare. It comes accompanied with pan seared sea scallops on top over wilted spinach and served with their own original Manhattan sauce. To say our steaks were excellent would be an understatement but yessss they were excellent. Dinners come with choice of potato, rice, veggies, or pasta. We both enjoyed the pasta (yay carbs). We both were stuffed and declined dessert. Clawson Steakhouse exceeded my already high expectations and I look forward to enjoying a meal there again on my next trip to Michigan.

Geesh. It was terrible. Best in 2014,2015 but not in 2024. I don't think the parking lot has been paved in decades. The interior - dark wood, dark furniture. Its like going back in time 40 years. I guess it family owned - well -- get a new family. Food was barely warm and items were under cooked. We've made the same meal at home and I feel like I should send them the recipe. We will not be going back.

Food was good (prime rib was exceptional) but service was awful! Clearly understaffed so why take so many reservations (place was jam packed) at 6:30 pm when you cannot accommodate the guests? Our table of 9 was served haphazardly -one of us waited nearly 30 min for a first drink that, when it finally came, (after politely inquiring about it, and receiving attitude from the waitress) was incorrect! No apologies, just told we had ti be patient! Incorrect drink was promptly (only time expediency was in play) removed from the table with no apology for the error.Soup served without spoons, meal sides were mixed up and we had to shuffle them around the table to correct our own orders. Thankfully, attentive busboy brought soft drinks, spoons and refilled waters as our waitress was too busy to check in!Band was great but far too loud to conduct dinner conversation. Very expensive dinner for an unpleasant experience! Unfair when 20% gratuity is included for subpar service! We are generous tippers when the service is merited.
