Very nice theater, I have been here before but a long time ago. I came here last night for the Nicholas Sparks event. Someone else mentioned in their review that the temperature was perfect in this theater, and I agree - I tend to get hot or cold easily, and it was about 70 degrees out in Sept. yesterday and nice inside as well.I read online that the theater holds 300, with a divider, or 600 at capacity, like last night - I think every seat was taken. My only complaint is I couldn't find a bathroom - I could be wrong on this though (aka maybe I just didn't see it). I used to work at the JCC (now called the J, I believe) when I was in college, as a swim instructor, so if there was no bathroom nearby then you'd have to walk a bit down another hallway off the lobby to get to the closest bathroom.

What a great, new(ish), state-of-the-art performing arts center. The Berman is a great gift to this community! The venue is beautiful and intimate and the staff is so great. We've enjoyed several shows - including movies and plays for kids - and concerts and have always been pleased. Most recently, we saw the opening show for the season, Broadway's Next H!t Musical. It was so fun. The audience gave suggestions and the actors created a musical based on those suggestions. It was like nothing we've seen before.Often before the shows, they'll feature activities for kids and also artists' markets and food fairs. We've seen community theater performances that are really affordable and fun, too. It's a great way to introduce children to the arts. We are eager to enroll our little ones in programs like Play in a Day, where the staff teaches kids the basics of stage shows. They even put on a full play at the end of the day (hence the name). Even more, the JCC is such a great place all the way around - and for everyone! The Jet theatre is also in the facility and there's a really cool adventure course outside. BTW... the temperature in the venue has always been perfect. And sometimes - as with all metro-area facilities - the venue is rented by outside producers where the quality of such events have to do with more with them vs. the venue. The same goes for major venues, like the Fox, Fisher, Little Ceasars Arena, etc.

Went to see a jazz concert there recently and the Acoustics were magnificent. Seating is plentiful no seats were obstructed. Enjoyed the performance immensely.

We had an incredible time. it's big, but we felt like we were right on the stage, very intimate. The kid's enjoyed the Pinkalicious show last year and we went back to see Broadways Next Hit Musical a few weeks ago...great show...especially for a local theatre.

I was so excited to hear the DSO at the Berman Center for Performing Arts on July 17th. A part if the JCC, it's very attractive inside and out. The seating in the auditorium, however, is cramped and rickety, probably so it can be removed as needed. ? This was tolerable, but the lack of air conditioning was NOT ACCEPTABLE! It had to be at least 85-90 degrees inside - there was no circulation- and the DSO concert was, sadly, almost unbearable. It was impossible to focus on the exquisite playing because it was so incredibly hot. At intermission, somebody must have complained because there were small wisps of cool air moving. However, it was too little, too late. The place was packed and it barely made a difference. Dear Berman Center- if you're going to plan to have inside performances in the summer, you need to turn the AC on 1/2 day BEFORE the event. I probably won't be back.

I went to see a presentation by a pain physician that was being recorded for Channel 56. I get that the audience was being filmed as well and that they wanted all seats filled in the center. I have a disability that is not noticeable. I needed to sit on an end seat where there were less people. An employee told me I had to sit in the center. She was angry with me. I told her I had a disability. I asked her if she wanted to know what that was. She had no interest in hearing that. I asked if the Berman Center accommodated disabilities. She ignored all of that as well and went on with saying I came early enough to choose a end seat. That made no sense to me. She was demeaning and raised her voice. It was embarrassing and I felt humiliated. I even tried to sit in the middle but the man next to me was coughing and sneezing. I quietly got up and found another more appropriate seat on the other side of the auditorium. Why couldn't she help me do that instead of behaving the way that she did? I am an RN and work in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and have spent my entire career advocating for the disabled. I am writing this because I do not want one more person to be treated the way I was treated at the Berman Center.
