Place:This place is very big so it is perfect for any gathering. The atmosphere is nice and the waiters are very friendly.Service:The service is pretty good as we get our tables pretty quick. I came with my church group and we got pretty good seats as we got to enjoy some good tacos.Food/price:One thing about the food is that it is amazing but it really depends on when you go that alters with the prices. There are deals like Taco Tuesdays (I think) that you have to go to make it worth your buck. AKA check the website on when they have their specials.Audience:Again- good for large groups 10+ also good for couples. I saw a lot of families. SOOO good for everybody yay!Recommend/tips?Again check the website/menu for the deals :)

I love the authenticity of this spacious taqueria and its bomb $1.25 tacos! Taqueria Nuestra Familia serves up some really good tacos along with quality customer service.NOTE: While they have a variety of menu options, I do recommend sticking to the tacos at Nuestra Familia because I've heard friends say they've been disappointed with trying out the other items! However, the tacos have always been on point!I snacked on countless free chips and salsa before devouring seven regular tacos (double tortilla, meat, onions, and cilantro) for just ~$11. The regular tacos were delicious, especially the Lengua and the Al Pastor tacos. This is a must-try and go-to Mexican restaurant when you're in Detroit!

"One of the best Mexican Restaurants in the US" for Taqueria Nuestra Familia - this is only way I can sum up how I feel about this taqueria! This is the real deal here. No Tex Mex, just authentic Mexican cuisine. Large variety of soup, meats, juices, breakfast, salsas, you name it - they got it. Unfortunately no arrachera. This taqueria has the best carne asada I've ever had in the states. Their signature dish is their gorditas - a la carte or as a dinner. The most delicious, convenient way to eat your favorite Mexican meats. They also offer a full bar, loud music to get you pumped & each meal is served with a bowl of limes. What's not to love?

The restaurant that spurned Janelle...For me, TNF is right up there with Los Altos. The service is a definite tick above Los Altos and the kitchen kicked out some tasty dishes in record speed. I've only been there once and had: - carne de res in adobo sauce, served with freshly made corn tortillasThis was just fantastic. Thin skirt steak in a great marinade with super fresh (and slightly thick) tortillas. The dish was huge!My wife had chicken tacos with cilantro and onion. She thought they were the best she's had in SW Detroit.Nice varied selection of salsas served along with radishes/limes. I like the really dark salsa. The only thing I disliked was the rice. I think it had dried shrimp in it. Not my thing.

After reading the glowing reviews, I had high hopes for this place. Unfortunately my partner and I walked out a bit disenchanted. There were some positives as well as negatives, to this dining experience.Start with the positives. The chips warm, nice variety and yummy salsas. The decor warm and welcoming. My enchiladas were tasty plus the beans and rice excellent, The carnitas were good. The negatives: service was poor, are server slow, the place wasn't busy middle of afternoon. I ordered a small shrimp coctail and it arrived 5 minutes after we had got our entrees. The shrimp had an odd taste. My partner also had Al pastor not good no sweet pineapple flavor at all and was overcooked tasted like beef to me.Perhaps it was just an off day? It wasn't awful just not what I thought it would be after reading reviews. I've learnned particularly with mexican cuisine opinions can fluctuate wildly. I might try it again, not sure, but for the time being I'm gonna stick with, Taqueria Lupita's when in Mexican town.

Mmmm tacos. Dil F lured me here with his tales of deliciousness. Homemade tortillas? Shrimp plates? Tasty tacos? Even alcohol to go with? It was easy to convince my husband to make the trek.Having given into my taco needs at a suburban style taco truck, I knew things were getting desperate. Drinking margaritas with some buffalo wings at a bad chain restaurant? Oh yeah I needed an intervention. I needed to leave my west side coziness and get my ass to Detroit before I ended up at an On The Border raving about the authenticity. Dil's suggestion of this place in a talk thread was a lifeline and I grabbed it baby. This place has real warmth. We were seated right away and my husband happily jabbered to various staff about the menu. My anti social husband. It was astounding. Of course I understood nada of it but he seemed to be having fun. Good enough for me. I was busy chowing down the delicious chips and array of salsas at any rate. Yum. I was starving and ordered accordingly. Everything was delicious! I had an al pastor taco, a carne asada taco, a chorizo taco and a shrimp ceviche tostada. So many happy tastes. I was overwhelmed but not in a bad way at all. My husband opted for the camarones (shrimp) a la diabla and it was simply amazing. Homemade tortillas were great and the rice was nice. Good lord. We shared in bliss.Pacifico makes me happy. I am not normally a beer girl in any way shape or form but it matches perfectly with this food. Who knew? Happy. Maybe it is too long in the sticks or just too long since I branched out a bit in general but I am in love a little bit. I will be back and it the rating will probably go up, I have to hold back a little though just in case it is a mad crush.

So many great Mexican eating spots in SW Detroit this is one of a dozen I really LOVE,,, a most unique interior with 4 large dining area's, parking in back camera's and fenced area along with outside patio. They start you with the large selection of salsa's,hot chips and a dish with veggies to get your munch on. WOW what a great way to start a Fiesta prior to evan ordering your meal.I really enjoyed the Grande Pozole the tradition red pork and hominy stew that only found a few of these Mexican places around the city. We had there Queso Flambe which is hot melted cheese with Chorizo YUMMY. The lunch specials whoa what a deal, tried the 2 mega Tacos, rice and beans along with the 2 Enchilada's rice and beans yea they have whole beans that we like. Also ordered the Grande Botona that rocked also. The $ 5 lunch special will fill your belly which is plated up everyday 11- 3pm which will get us back many more times, be sure to check out the website for the menu that has really great pricing along with a full bar and house made tortillas that are a must try.

Celebrated MLK day with a UYE crew that included Pauly G, Jeff H, and Lorna E. Pretty painless to get to, off-ramp of I-94, down Central Ave and into the Nuestra parking lot. Fairly well-sized, serves liquor, with complimentary chips and salsa when dining in. Ordered a couple of tacos for me, $1.25 tacos can't be beat! Tasty with lots of meat, onions, and cilantro! We ordered several dishes to be shared- a fried fish, empanada with carne asada, chilaquiles, chile relleno, a pozole soup, gorditas, and a huevos dish. Along with a cerveza, I was so full and content by the end! And there was still enough for the others to take home leftovers. Excellent lunch, fun UYE with other Yeeps, and very reasonable for the amount of food. Recommend and will repeat when I'm in the area!
