My visit was in December 2023 for a friend's birthday. The decor is nice and the place is well decorated but I wish that same care carried over to service and the actual dining experience.I'll start with the only thing that went well and that was the drinks. The bartender was on point. We were there so long that we had several rounds of drinks. Drinks were balanced and came to the table timely. We placed an appetizer order and that took 30 minutes to get to the table. Our food order was placed and we waited an HOUR for that mediocre food to come to the table. And that lobster mac and cheese that's on the menu foe $175?! Just stop. Not worth it at all. There was ONE piece of lobster on top of the dish along with the charred lobster shell. And they put edible flowers on everything. It's overkill.None of the food was good. My scallops came out undercooked. I sent them back. The steak someone ordered came out undercooked. We sent it back. The chicken breast was a chicken thigh. It was all bad.For the prices, everything needs to be improved. The owner/chef offered a redo on a different date, but it was too inconsistent for me to try again. I don't want food poisoning.

Went here last Saturday for a girls night out. I had a bad feeling because we had a reservation, but the place was dead. The restaurant is decorated very lovely. I enjoyed the piano player, but that was about it. It had a gross fishy smell that I smelled the entire time we were there. Even though it wasn't busy our drinks took a very long time. The drinks weren't bad, but they were on the weak side. I had caesar salad and oysters on the half shell. The Caesar salad comes with a "presentation" which was basically just a guy who made our salad at the table side. He had very little personality and it wasn't anything special. The salad had too much dressing on it and the anchovies weren't that good. My oysters had an off flavor. Not good or bad. Just off. 2 of the other woman I worked with got steak and they were not impressed. The other one got a vegetarian sushi, which she said was pretty good. Our waitress, Kim, was fun and had a great personality. I can't say I will ever go to this restaurant again. I doubt it will even be in business that much longer as dead as it was on a Saturday.

Not my favorite at all...Let's start with the ambiance. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. If you're a girl into bathroom selfies you must take one here. The booths by the window are beyond cute. Hate that the bar facing the back wall but oh well. The bartender was fun and crafted tasty cocktails so it made okay. Service was slow but friendly. Now on to the food. The quality and portion sizes leave much to be desired. We ordered the Parker House Rolls which I'm almost positive were King's Hawaiian rolls that you can get at any grocery store. Next we ordered the Wagyu Meatballs which were certainly not wagyu and were reminiscent of frozen "baby shower" meatballs. They are charging $23 for 3 very small meatballs, hardly enough to share and the crostini was a hard as a brick. The crab cake appetizer, again $23, came with one small crab cake that was mostly filler. When our server returned to take the rest of our order, we expressed our distaste for the items we already received and she sent the Manager/Owner to the table. He proceeded to dispute the fact that the food was sub par. The way he handled our concern made me and my friend decide that we didn't want to proceed on with dinner. Because we are avid foodies we've had other friends ask about our experience at Table No. 2 and I've had to tell them this same story. If you're thinking of trying it, please lower your expectations about the quality and taste of the food and brace yourself for the sticker shock before you arrive.

This place knows how to make you feel special! We showed up a little early for our reservation and were told we could sit wherever we would like. We chose an intimate booth with a private curtain. We ordered the lobster and corn bisque soup as well as a garden salad to start. For the entrée, we had the teriyaki, salmon and rice, and the side of garlic mashed potatoes. Everything was very delicious and plated beautifully. We also had the smoke shop tequila cocktail, which was fantastic. As we dined, beautiful piano music played in the background and the restaurant was very lovely. This is a wonderful place to celebrate, something special or to just treat yourself!

We were in town for our Smart Set Conclave and decided to have a little dinner before heading out to hear some live music. The presentation of the food was impressive! I had the fried lobster and I loved it!! My husband had the lamb shank and he said it was tender and juicy! Back to the presentation though... most of dishes were served with a glass dome, which was fabulous! The ones not served with the dome were served in quite interesting serving dishes! We loved it! Our server was MP and she was funny as hell! Loved her since of humor! She made me a fantastic gin and tonic with Empress Indogo Gin and it was spot on! Loved the ambiance and the bathroom! If I'm ever back Detroit, I'll definitely come back!

We came here for a date night, and we had a nice booth by the window. The seating and ambiance was nice, and the service was pretty good too. Our reservation was right when the restaurant opened, so it wasn't very busy when we visited. Our food was pretty good, as was my drink. The only downside was how expensive this place was. I didn't feel like we got the most bang for our buck here. We've been to many other nice restaurants and had a lot more for less. I don't think this would be somewhere we would frequent.

If I could give table number 0 stars, I would! When we arrived on Friday June 21st for our reservation at 7:30 the place was empty except for two tables of two on either side of the restaurant. It smelled like nothing when we walked in which also should have been a RED FLAG.I was so excited to celebrate my friends birthday at a new restaurant in Detroit. She booked the spot in advanced and paid a hefty $25 per person fee to reserve a table for a party of 11!!! If people no show you lose the $25/person fee based on your original number of dinners. We love to support black owned restaurants. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the bathrooms are clean. Everyone liked their drinks and appetizers were on point. One complaint on the appetizers they advertise lump crab cake but I encountered zero lumps of crab. The pretty much all the entrees were embarrassingly bad. I'm only going to discuss what I consumed though. The scallops were undercooked and had a fishy taste like they were past market standards. The asparagus was bland and too citrusy for my taste.I had to send my scallops back to be cooked longer on each side so there was a slight crisp to them which I requested initially. They was all soft and squishy and translucent when I cut into them. They brought my scallops back out, cooked to my liking, but I really couldn't consume them because after trying the second one and tasting the really strong order of fish I decided not to eat anymore fearing they were rancid. The night took several more turns for the worse when the birthday girl requested to speak to the manager about all the complaints the table had. Our server stated that the manager was not on duty tonight and that she was acting in the managers place. We then asked if we could possibly speak to the head chef and we were told that he did not want to speak to us.Without going too much more into detail, we were highly dissatisfied with our food, and based on the fact that we pretty much tried everything on the menu between the 11 of us we didn't feel comfortable trying anything else. Some of us were perfectly fine playing for our food, but some of us had a problem with it because their food had a bad odor or was just not consumable most of us couldn't even take the food home Because it smelled rancid. Needless to say, everyone was pretty disappointed.

Another negative review for this place. Please note: leaving a review was the only resolution provided for my complaints so here we go! If I could give negative stars, I would. This place looks nice but must be staffed via work release program. The food is overpriced to be so subpar - if you want a good steak, Prime & Proper is a short distance away.Waiters aren't familiar with menus & we're in the kitchen shouting at one another very audibly! We ordered steaks expecting zip sauce - we received a side order of the demiglaze that comes with the steak (which tastes burnt). I don't recall giving a temp on my steak but I received a child's basketball covered in charcoal. I asked them to remake it and was denied. Note: The only person who addressed our concerns never identified himself as a manager and was dressed as a server, so I assume he was the muscle for the evening. He refused to help because "the chef is over him but he's the highest person on the floor". Ruined my best friend's birthday dinner and after spending $200 on dinner, I am waiting for doordash because I literally could not eat anything but the potatoes. I hope no one has my steak as steak bites on tomorrow's menu but I wouldn't be shocked. Don't order chilled shots, you'll get water.

Upon arrival at the restaurant, we noticed we were one of the first couples to arrive for dinner. We were 5 minutes early for our reservation, and briefly stood there, until we made eye contact with a server (who was actively working to finish setting a large table near the entrance - for another patron that was waiting in front of us). After just a few minutes, the server pleasantly greeted me and my wife and wished us both a happy anniversary. She then escorted us to our table. The restaurant was very beautiful and our seat near the window, was an absolutely beautiful enclave. Within several minutes, the server that escorted us to our seats arrived and said, " I will be your server for tonight". She was pleasant, professional, and very knowledgeable of the menu. As my wife attempted to place her sushi order, the server said "oh I am so sorry, but we don't offer sushi on Sundays". It was unfortunate, because one of the primary reasons we chose this restaurant, was because of the sushi menu. My wife loves sushi and really wanted to have sushi with the other course offerings. We then ordered several menu items: the wagyu meatballs, the crab cake, the Parker House Bread, and the greens salad. For the main entrees, my wife ordered the salmon and I ordered the ribeye with Gorgonzola crust, the creamed spinach, and vegetable du jour.As for the food, I really expected an "experience" and hoped that this African American owned restaurant would deliver. I had seen several post on Tiktok and the reviews had been really good. Unfortunately, this food was one of the most average meals I have had at a so-called 4star restaurant in a long long time. The 3 meatballs tasted like the Costco meatballs, that are sold in the frozen section. They neither tasted like wagyu beef and definitely were a bland mixture of some lower grade meat. The gravy reminded me of canned gravy they used to serve at the college dormitory for the Thanksgiving dinner. It definitely did not taste homemade. The meatballs were below average and just unremarkable. When I tried my wife's crab cake, it was mostly breaded filler and was very average. The salad was warm, was a smaller portion size, and also was just average. So that left my so-called ribeye steak. I am almost positive it was not a ribeye. When I placed my original order, the server failed to ask me how I wanted it prepared, so I went to her and advised I wanted it medium rare. Well, when I cut into that steak, it was pure fat and gristle. It was a piece of scrap meat that they decided to served, rather than discard. It was well done, over cooked, and one of the toughest pieces of meat I had ever eaten. It reminded me of a piece of strip steak that is often served at some of the local buffets. It was a bad piece of meat, cooked horribly, and just terrible. Even the Broccoli was tough and barely edible. To me, it is obvious that this restaurant is in survival mode. They used a cheap cut of meat disguised as a ribeye, and the overall food quality was horrible. My wife's salmon had great presentation, and she said it was decent. As things got a little busier in the restaurant (maybe two other couples and the large group at the table the table our server was preparing when we arrived), the Chef came over to clear our table. We were happy that he was acknowledging us, given the limited number of people in the restaurant. However, we would soon learn that his real intention was actually to clear the table, which he did multiple times, because they were short staffed. At that point our server became more and more sparse (literally disappeared).I should have known the word was already out on this restaurant, because there were only like 3 other total couples there during our visit during the Sunday dinner hour. The best part of this meal was the creamed spinach (with red onions), which was delicious. My wife also said the sweet tea they created for her was really good. However, paying $333.00 for an excellent creamed spinach and an above average iced sweet tea was not really what I expected. You win some and you lose some, but this restaurant is definitely losing. You would be better off going to a Pizza Hut, Olive Garden, or Burger King for a more flavorful meal.Other than the decor and awesomely decorated bathrooms, this restaurant is not good. Save your time and money.
