I really wanted to love this place. I saw the reviews online and the food looked amazing, unfortunately when I came to this location I was disappointed. We came during a night where there was karaoke, music, and a open stage. In addition - it was someones birthday so then it was even louder than maybe any average night. The music and karaoke was so loud it was almost painful especially when people started singing. Im all for some singing, background music etc. but this was way too much. I can't even remember how incredibly long it took for them to get our food. We ordered a few burgers and sides and it was taking an extremely long time. The waitress then made us pay for our food before we even got it because she was "getting off" and wanted to close out our tab. That did not sit well with me, I had never had a server make me pay for my food before it arrived because they wanted to go home and they were off work. Maybe it was a poor choice on my part but we were there almost 3 hours, when we just wanted a quick bite. Don't really recommend unless you want average food, a long wait, and like extremely loud environments.

Meh!!!Because I have an expansive palette and incredibly high standards (giggles), I knew that I should have just quieted the FOMO and continued to drive past this bar. The name "bistro", made me feel as though I was possibly judging the location and clientele harshly; and that maybe I should give it a try.I was sorely disappointed and will be a lot less likely to succumb to FOMO.I knew better.The two stars are for the waitress who answered my call and waited on me when I arrived, Portia. (sp)She was very friendly and professional. She even invited me back and told me that I should come when the "mature" crowd hangs out. I guess I'm old...well, I'm definitely mature and like the older crowds, so technically, she wasn't off.Anywho...I can't give any more stars.I'll start with the exterior. I won't beat McNichols down too much, but one has to really watch themselves while driving or walking down this street. I can say this as almost a lifelong member of the neighborhood. I live within a mile of this bar. There is only side street parking as there is a bus stop in front of the bar. The side street parking is mostly unavailable depending on what time you stop here. This corner is usually super busy. It would be best to have a driver to wait in the car if you carryout here.The overall atmosphere of the interior...I could not differentiate the staff from the clientele as it seemed that the patrons and staff were all talking and walking all around the establishment. There was lots of cursing and overall low vibrational conversations going on. Much of which my mature ears could have done without. One woman sat next to me at the bar while I waited, with her chair pushed up against mine, moving me each time she moved. Her conversation was deplorable and loud. I had to get up and move towards the door waiting for my change as Portia took incredibly long to bring.The bar was huge, I would guess it seats at least ten people. There were plenty of tables as well.Speaking of the bar, it wouldn't be my choice to drink here as the bar wasn't fully stocked. The place seemed downright seedy to me. I was thinking that I would only return if the food was super yummy, but after tasting it and comparing the taste to the price I paid, this place is a definite NO for me and anyone else I know who asks me about it.I ordered steak bites (medium), which were more like "steak bits". The meat was overcooked, hard to chew and there were way too many onions.I also ordered lobster mac and cheese and steamed broccoli. The broccoli was good. I wished there were more.The mac and cheese was edible, and would have been fine had I not expected lobster. I couldn't find more than two bites of it.The price I paid for my dinner, $27, was simply not worth what I was served. I don't mind paying top coin for good food, but this meal wasn't worth more than $10-$15.I hate to leave scathing reviews. This place is obviously fine for the customers that frequent it. It's simply not for me.

This is a great hall of you are doing a big event with your family. Nice staff and good looking place. The bar staff was very nice and helpful with picking drinks to try out. It's hard to find and in Detroit but it's a great place if you want something cheaper and nice.

If you give something a bad review, stick with it! I returned only be disappointed again. I asked what kind of steak was available, I was told ribeye which was a lie. I asked for medium well and I got well well. The lobster bites were fried too hard. The broccoli was good

The service is terrible!! Took 40 mins for an appetizer. The waitress didn't know how to multitask what so ever! My steak was salted as hell. Only go for the appetizers and drinks only!!!!! Be aware and careful. If i could give em a negative -0 i would

honestly a 0/10 took my girl there yesterday and they served us leftover food that had no flavor i was very disappointed with the service I got but the bartender was cool tho

I came here for comedy night. I enjoyed the environment. The catfish looked good (my significant other ordered). I read the poor reviews so I was skeptical. My experience wasn't the case at all. There was only one girl working the whole floor she was very nice and sweet. Although it did take awhile to get our food and drinks she was an all star. She's the reason for the 4*s.The reason why I didn't give 5*s is because there were technical difficulties with the speaker which turned out to be a bad cord in the speaker but the dude didn't know what he was doing. The show started about an hour late. They intentionally kept the comedian that we came to see second to last because he brought a big crowd when he should've been the 4th comedian up.

I checked online for which restaurants had LOBSTER mac and cheese near me and the reviews I found seemed pretty good so I gave it a shot. The young lady that took my order was pleasant and informed me that the price of the dish had increased due to the hike in food prices, which was no problem and I appreciated her making me aware. She tells me it will be 10 mins, and I give them 20 just to be safe.When I arrived I went to the bar and the bartender was speaking with another patron and it appeared that there was something going on regarding tender. So I asked "are you cash only?" She says "yes, did they tell you that on the phone?" I informed her that they had not and that I don't carry cash and that they could cancel my order. No love lost. She asks me to wait a moment and goes to the back.She returns to let me know that theres another 10-15 min wait for my order and pulls out a wireless card processor that connects to the register and can suddenly process my credit card. Magic!I get my order and go home.As Im eating, I notice that the "LOBSTER" has a interesting flavor, texture and shape (see below). Its round and isnt sweet like cooked lobster. I keep finding these round SLICES of "LOBSTER". I take a piece of the "LOBSTER" rinse it of and break it apart with my fingers, and its IMITATION KRAB, which I have not eaten in over 20 years.I have absolutely no problem with paying for the items that I order because I enjoy a quality meal and service. However, if they want to sell SEAFOOD mac and cheese that is what they should advertise. I really wanted to be able to have another small restaurant in town to patronize, but integrity is too important for me to go back or recommend to anyone else.

The food is good but I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. Especially if you're set on spending a certain amount on your bill.Waitress brought expensive Dusse' shots after we requested whatever was the cheapest. Those came out to $48 for 3. We didn't even want them and still had to pay for them so of course we drank them.Then they don't know how to accurately calculate entrees and sides. Instead of charging the difference in price for sides that aren't included, they charge the entire price which means technically you should get three sides with your meal.On top of all of that, you're forced to tip 15%. I'm already a tipper but I don't like not having the option.I keep trying to support Black owned businesses but most need to learn how to properly run an establishment without getting over on customers. Transparency is key.
