Best Indian food I've ever had! This place is legendary! It's decorated like you are a guest at a wedding and it's so clean! The service is always top tier and very friendly. The owner is in often and thanks you for supporting his business which I think is above and beyond. Everything we've tried here is amazing and I recommend getting seriously anything on the menu

Yikes! These hot reviews are mind-boggling. This place is a total reminder of why most Detroiters settle for bad food. When the owner swoops by with your check and a QR code asking for your vote for best Indian food in Detroit after you've had bad service and a bad meal...you should smile and push the free "mango lassyi" aside. Our server wasn't able to come through with 2 apps and 5 entrees. She wanted our order before we had menus. The 2 orders of samosas arrived with a plate that contained 1 tablespoon of "chutney" in each well.*see photoo*. Anyone who has ever had real Indian food knows that yogurt and GREEN food coloring is not a chutney. They dumped sugar in the sauces. The naan was the only thing that deserved a few stars.

I dined here last night and I can't recommend it enough! From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. I kicked things off with the samosas, which were perfectly crispy and packed with flavor -- a great start to the meal. For the main course, we tried the chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, and chicken manchurian, and each dish was outstanding. The chicken tikka masala had a rich, creamy sauce with just the right amount of spice, while the butter chicken was velvety smooth and incredibly satisfying. The chicken manchurian added a fun twist, with its deliciously tangy and savory flavors with the perfect amount of crunch. What truly set this place apart was the service. The staff and servers were not only friendly but genuinely welcoming, making the whole dining experience feel warm and inviting. The colors of the restaurant are also so fun and royal, a great visual while dining in. If you're craving authentic Indian flavors served with a side of excellent hospitality, Star of India is definitely worth a visit! I'll definitely be returning for more.

What are friendly greeting we got when we walked in. Three of the staff members were openly friendly and happy to see us. It made us feel very comfortable and like we had been a regular that restaurant forever. The place is clean and fresh, the staff is very attentive on keeping the tables clean and set, it was a very nice ambience. Great vibe! The food was outstanding and there was plenty of it. We asked for some suggestion and they did not disappoint. I recommend that anyone going for Indian food for the first time, please stop here.

Excellent experience! 5/5 for service, ambiance and food! The people there are so friendly and enthusiastic. They greet you warmly and are very attentive for your needs. Cool decorations around the store. And food is amazing! Probably the best mango lassi I've had. Very fresh. You can tell they make it out of fresh sweet mango. Also got the lamb korma, which was a good portion for the price. Creamy and nutty. Lamb is very tender. Got mild spice level and was not spicy at all. Will try medium next time. The best part was the naan! They have so many different variety of naan. The one I got was coconut and raisin. It was sweet and freshly baked. Tasted like dessert. I can have this naan all day long! Would definitely return. Highly recommend!

A bit of a different feel compared to other Indian restaurants but in a good way. First of all I was greeted with a ecstatic server thanking me extensively for dining in at their restaurant. At 3:00 p.m. on a Sunday there was quite a bit of customers surprisingly and after getting to us a little bit later he apologized for the delay in service which I thought was very nice of him.I got the goat chettinadu and chicken tikka wrap. Both were great. The goat dish was not too spicy even though I got medium, and it was very flavorful with every bite without the feeling of it being too fatty. This was recommended by the server as something not too creamy but still had excellent flavor.I also got the chicken wrap which the server highly recommended as well. It is also very flavorful and very filling. The place is also very nicely decorated and unique. It truly makes you feel like a star. There are balloons on nearly every table that say we are number one, and there is a special table by the windows that gives it a star vibe.Service like I said was excellent, enthusiastic, delivered with smiles and warmth.

Came here for dinner tonight and it was fantastic! The food was so good, service was prompt, and you get a ton of food for the price. My spouse and I ordered the dinner for two, which was superb, especially the rice pudding at the end. The servers were very kind, they were being so sweet to my son and even gave him a free dessert. The restaurant itself was very clean and had really cool furniture. I would love to return here!

Awesome dinner and the service was great. Parking is a bit of an issue sometimes in Ferndale, but if you are patient you will eventually get a space and this restaurant is worth it!!They seated us at a table in the window, and it looked like king and queen chairs, which was kind of funny. I wish I had taken a picture of that. It was very cool!We had a really hard time trying to decide what to order because I have my favorite that I always order and my son likes to always order the butter chicken. I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and I ordered the Dall Tarka which is a lentil dish. I ordered it with medium spice and it was perfect (mind you I do like my food spicy!). my son ordered the butter chicken and he was so glad he did because he said it was one of the best butter meals he's eaten in the metro Detroit area For appetizers we got the veggie samosa and veggie pakora and they were delicious. They give you a dish with three types of sauce for the appetizers but the portions are very small so I asked for additional on the brown sauce which I don't know what it was, but it was delicious. Overall, I would definitely go back to this restaurant as both the quality and the service was outstanding

Okay, so I do not leave a lot of reviews. I only leave one if I am blown away, or if it sucks. Maybe not the best mentality, but whatever. Anyway, this place is amazing. The staff is the friendliest staff I have seen in I don't know how long. The food, phenomenal. I have eaten here 4 times now and had the same amazing experience every time. From chicken tikka, to fish curry, the lamb, naan bread... all of it was amazing. I highly recommend, and obviously, I will be returning.
