I love music and dancing. Generally, that applies to most genres. I also love the nostalgia of vinyl, and I live for a great cocktail and a fun atmosphere. All of which you get at Spot Lite Detroit. The place is tucked in a fairly isolated area in the Islandview neighborhood in Detroit off of Charlevoix and Mt. Elliot. The esthetics are dope. There is a coffee shop, a record shop section, a bar, a huge dancefloor and lots of seating. You can find obscure vinyl to take home and enjoy, order a cocktail from the tasty variety served, or a comfy cup of coffee and enjoy your evening laughing and dancing with friends. It's a really cool place to enjoy yourself.I only hope that the owners and also the area police make sure that guests' vehicles are safe. I worried the entire time I was there that my car would be fine when I returned to it. I was thankful that it was.Other than that, there is plenty of parking and a summertime patio area.

Super cool venue - by day it's a coffee/works space and record shop and by mid-day and night the bar and dancing begins. Local and international DJs are spinning every week and there is usually a food truck out front if you get hungry. You could literally spend all day and night here ! I stopped through midday to checkout the record store and they have an incredible selection of new and used jazz, r&b/funk/soul, rock and especially electronic music. There is a special section within each genre that highlights past and current Detroit artists which is an added plus. and a special section specifically for Detroit. The best record shop I found in Detroit but will be checking out others.

The low score has to do with accessibility wheelchair users would find a very difficult to gain access to this establishment unless they had someone with them. Once inside it is very accessible and there is one handicap bathroom. As far as drinks go, they make fabulous ones and if you're looking for a delicious cocktail, this is a great place to go.

Spotlite is consistently one of my favorite techno bars in Detroit. The music is fantastic, the venue is great, the drinks are cheap, there's outdoor options, you can come dressed up after a gala or come dressed in a sweatshirt and pajamas and no one will judge you no matter how you decide to come. The staff is nice, the music variety is plentiful, and this is Detroit's hidden gem

This is an amazing spot for shows! It is cozy & quaint, very personal. Spot Lite is an art gallery/coffee house located in the East Side, not too far from Gratiot off Vernor. We have been twice so far and loved the atmosphere and vibe! It's reminiscent of the underground parties in the 90's, I'm sure that's why the DJs love it so much! The sound system thumps & there are couches to relax & chill on between heavy dance sessions. The bathrooms are unisex- for the most part- & the bar gets thick with patrons looking for a thirst quencher. They may need to add on an additional bar in the front! We love Spot Lite & look forward to many amazing house shows in the future!

This place exceeded my expectations, so cool and unique. The place to be to feel comfortable and dance. Bartenders were accommodating and helpful when it came to figuring out what to drink. Drinks are cute and the prices is fair. They have art for sale on the walls and also little snacks! A must visit when visiting Detroit if you're looking for an edgy vibe and cool music. Xx

We showed up to a Saturday party at SpotLite around 11pm and parked a few hundred feet from the building. I was driving with 3 others in the car.It was 30 dollars each to get in so 120 total at the door. There were a lot of people there and the music was good. We were having fun. Between us four, we had 2 drinks each, the girls drinking Paloma's, which they said were good, and my friend and I drinking 2 beers. We couldn't check our coats because the cost check was taking so long and every trip to the bathroom was a really long wait. The bar tender seemed like he was having a terrible night and had a mean-mug pouty face on and seemed upset we were ordering drinks from him.We were ready for our third and last drink at 1:45 am but the pouty bartender told me the bar was closed and wouldn't serve anymore with no last call, even though someone 10 feet from me just got served and he served the guy right ahead of me.The girls were disappointed but we stayed for a bit longer and left. When we got to the car I discovered my passenger front window was smashed and glass was everywhere. It was about 9 degrees outside and it took awhile to get all of the glass off the seat...it was all over the car. The would-be thief opened the glove box and searched through it.I walked back to the club while my friend got the rest of the glass off of his seat and walked up to the security vehicle parked in front of the club. She was clam baking out the security car with weed and when she rolled down the window she seemed upset I would bother her about trying to get back into the building to talk with someone. After being as nice as I possibly could despite the callous attitude, she pointed me to a door I could try. I got back into the club and looked for the owner or someone in charge. Someone at the DJ booth told me they already left and said all I could do was talk to the people at the bar.I told them what happened and the guy was visibly annoyed and upset I would bring that up to him. I suggested I wanted to try to recoup a few bucks since we spent about 200 and that made him even more annoyed while he said in a sharp pissed off way, "we're not paying for that!"Very bad attitudes of everyone I came into contact with. No caring whatsoever by anybody or even someone saying sorry. They just said "that sucks" in a pissy way, while the high security officer wasn't doing her job.It will be 250 to fix the window with my deductible and I have to miss work tomorrow to have it fixed before Christmas, not to mention driving home freezing.Terrible experience and strange aggravated people at the club. Open drug use by the security officer Lolo and the people in the club...and not in a fun way, in a, these people have issues way. Very bad vibes and a dangerous area with no concern for people's safety, but expensive. We won't be going back again.
